So there I was deluded into thinking I’d reviewed this wonderful hotel, but I hadn’t so I’ll remedy this now. ||We travelled around France and Spain for eight weeks and this hotel was in our top three. We had four nights. Relaxing, clean and comfortable. All the staff are real friendly. Bed cozy, air con perfect, WiFi great, great shower and so so quiet. ||We didn’t go for breakfast as we just wanted to have long rests in the mornings as it was our last destination before sailing home. ||We used their underground car park and it was a real tight squeeze as we have a big car and we had acquired a large Thule roof box on our journey but car parking in Bilbao is a real challenge; my advice don’t go by car without sorting car parking first. The hotel lift thankfully goes to the basement. ||As we made our way to the hotel it was downhill all the way having come from Jaca. As we got to 1000 yards from the hotel we got the feeling we shouldn’t be there. It felt like a tram/bus reserved area, but there was a police car behind us and the lights stayed off. ||The river was on our left and as the sat nav said we’d arrived it sure didn’t look like a hotel entrance. The guy behind check-in about instantly got off his chair to get us into the carpark and I was delighted. The next time it would start was departure day. €18 a night to park. ||If we return to delightful Bilbao we will be based here and we sure won’t have a car and once we drop our bags we’ll walk five minutes to get to Swad Himalayan restaurant then all...
Read moreFirst evening, I arrived late and talked the reception about food delivery. She said when a delivery comes in she calls the room to confirm the order and let's the delivery person in.
Working through the night, I ordered food and the super clever FBI receptionist said 'its not allowed', although 15 minutes back I went down to ask if the hotel has food.
I told him the information I had and said he needs to check this because it isn't smooth for the customer. I have tried to explain that this is a common practice.
At the end of the conversation, he left his desk, walked to the elevator (where I was waiting) and wanted to hit me. He thought that I was drunk but I don't drink, I just have a sleepy eye from the birth. Not professional, not customer oriented, silly.
If I saw my employee doing such a thing, I'd fire immediately. There is not even a single excuse for this behavior.
I usually come to Bilbao, it was the first time at this hotel but never staying here again until the management confirms that they cleaned out low IQ, high confidence...
Read morePros: The hotel is nice and clean. They offer parking for €19 per day. Just a heads-up: you’ll need good maneuvering skills to get your car into the elevator that takes it to the parking levels. The rooms are clean and well maintained.
Cons: Be aware that the hotel is VERY close to the Bilbao Crematorium. We had a room facing the inner yard, and we could see the crematorium building directly from our window. At night, the bright light box with the large word "Tanatorio" was clearly visible. I found it very unsettling. We closed the curtains, but it still felt creepy.
If that doesn’t bother you, the hotel is a good option. Otherwise, you might want to choose a different place.
I asked to change rooms after the first night, and they said it was possible for an extra fee. However, because we had already booked and paid for a city tour that day, we couldn’t meet the time frame they requested for the room change. So we had to stay in the same room for...
