Dolce Vita Girona — Restaurant in Girona

After a wonderful week in Girona the last night of the holiday we dined here , a place we have enjoyed in the past . As you see by my review, I have given it five stars for the food because I cannot fault the food. It was exceptional. Two of us had pizza while our other colleague had pasta and yes, it was very good. Tasty fresh and really well presented the wine was very good as well and good value. The whole meal was very good ., however, we were sat outside and the two waiters that served us were absolutely awful. We asked for a table for three we got a grunt of the waiter. He then walked off to bring menus, so we just picked a table ourselves and sat down while taking our order, he was too busy winking and eyeing up the girls on the other tables so it took a while to get the order completed. Another young way to came over with the wine we had ordered. We were never shown the label offered a taste. It was poured out basically the entire bottle between the three of us and he walked off . The food arrived. We would’ve liked another glass of beer, but we never managed to get one because it was a different way to that brought the food to our table from the inside and trying to get the attention of the other two waiters who were working outside was pretty impossible. We finished our meal which again I have to say was very nice, one of my colleagues Couldn’t finish his he was just too full. The plates were cleared away we were never asked at any time if everything was okay or would we like anything else , we were just basically abandoned after that . My friend shouted the bill as we had got fed up of waiting. The waiter wasn’t impressed and was even less impressed that we didn’t leave a tip. After what “seemed” like potentially a decent restaurant, a middle of the park Carpaccio, although lacking proper seasoning but was still decent. I was expecting a big jump on the main gnocchi alla sorrentina and massive improvement but I couldn’t be more disappointed if it was possible. A very very bad dish that was lacked everything and yet MASSIVELY overloaded with garlic and should be sold as gnocchi alla garlic, had absolutely nothing to do with a delicate tomato based sauce dish! My guest’s main dish was Veal Milanese that was pounded to the point that an tortilla or poppadom had more life and depth to it and to add to insult, the veal had clearly looked like it had already been cooked 1-2 before that evening and instead of making a fresh dish, they decided to offload scraps and charge full price rather than disposing of it as it was unfit for even a dog!! All in all very disappointed and unless you really want to dine in a nice atmosphere of the independence square on a cool spring / summer evening and stick to basic starters and drinks, avoid this place as it will definitely leave a very soar taste and far than enjoyable taste in terms of its...

We had an awesome meal today at Dolce Vita Girona. We were only in Girona for one day — we biked from Olot to Girona yesterday and heading to coast by bicycle tomorrow. My husband was craving pasta and I was craving risotto. The food and the service were amazing. As an appetizer, they served small green olives. I had never seen anything like them before and I’m normally not a fan of olives. The waiter explained that they were a specialty of the restaurant - marinated with special herbs — unbelievable taste — mild but flavorful. The pasta here is handmade and my husband is super picky about his pasta —he was not disappointed. I asked for my mushroom risotto without cheese and they happily made it special for me. The mushrooms were so tasty and the rice was just perfectly cooked. My husband had the tiramisu and I had an oat milk latte for dessert. I was so happy to find oat milk as an alternative.
