My experience here was largely negative. The hotel seems aged and that isn't an inherent problem, but my impression is maintenance has fallen to the wayside.
The most negative thing was my AC was largely non-functional. Calling the front desk and letting them know of course resulted in someone coming and telling me it was operating normally which is mostly what I expected given that there is probably nothing they can do and/or they aren't paid enough to care. Of course it wasn't operating normally, as my room was 30c when outside it was 30.5c. My friend's room was 24.4c at the same time so I didn't appreciate what I would construe as being straight-face lied to. I ended up buying a fan for 25 euro at a store as not being used to the heat made it difficult to sleep and I don't much enjoy getting 4 hours of sleep while I'm on vacation. The person did end up providing some type of horizontal hotel fan after my complaint, but I don't really credit or appreciate the hotel for it, as it literally looked older than I was, pushed no real amount of air and had some horrific screeching sound while it was on (I'm 29 for reference).
When I arrived, it took 20 minutes for my friend and I to be checked in, even though we booked and paid in advance. The lady at the counter was nice enough, but they seem to be using some type of paper system so its slow.
Having had half-board and eaten at the restaurant 6 times, I can say the food was good once out of the 6. During breakfast, free juice/coffee/milk is provided, however during dinner no drinks are provided which is fine, but they also seemingly don't allow you to have your own drinks as my friend was told to put away his. I suppose it is so they can likely upcharge a few hundred percent on their drink menu that they probably bought from the super market just down the street. Mostly struck me as disrespectful as it really feels like the hotel is just trying to squeeze money out of a person while also flipping them the bird.
Truth be told, I would not stay here again. I don't mind the cheaper option (actually prefer it), but if one isn't used to sleeping in the heat then they shouldn't stay here. I wish I would have paid another hundred or few hundred euro for a nicer place just to sleep easily. The food didn't bother me at all as I'm very basic and don't care what I eat. My girlfriend...
Read moreI still can’t forget what I experienced here two months ago, so let me write. I’m a young and chill traveler who doesn’t want to write or say bad things towards others, but the experience I had at this hotel was a total disaster.
I booked a room for a night. When my partner and I tried to check in, they said there was no reservation. We showed them our printed reservation confirmation and told them I had already paid for the room. The female receptionist even confirmed the papers.
BUT they still didn’t let us in and claimed our reservation number had been used by someone a few days ago.
Like what? Why and how?? After a long day of traveling, and since we were checking in at midnight, we were exhausted and just wanted to rest. We even showed our passports and all the information we could provide. I felt like they treated us like scammers, even though we did nothing wrong.
In the end, I had to pay a deposit of the same amount I had already paid just to stay there. After paying, they finally provided us a room, and we could take a really really short break thanks to them.
In the morning, the receptionist told us a manager would come to explain what happened, so we waited. The manager did not show up on time, even though we had to leave soon. There was no respect or sense of apology. When the manager finally showed up, he asked me to write my bank account number to send my deposit back and provided an email address for further assistance.
After checking out, I sent an email to get my deposit back, BUT HE DID NOT RESPOND. I waited for a few days and just couldn’t wait any longer. I contacted MLL Hotels, and someone finally wrote back. They sent the money, but I had to pay an extra fee. Unbelievable. Since I am Japanese and was traveling from Japan, they transferred the deposit to my Japanese bank account, and I had to pay a fee to confirm the international transfer.
They should have covered that fee because they treated us so badly. I will never come back here and wouldn’t recommend staying here while...
Read moreFive stars! All of the staff - at check-in, the pool bar and the pool itself - were super friendly and kind, and spoke English to me.
If you are considering staying here and are worried by some bad reviews, please read the reviews, the reasons for giving bad reviews are ridiculous- one person complained about the font of the room number, one person complained the pool was being cleaned (annoying to happen on your trip but necessary) and also complained to have been given a free bottle of champagne despite being pregnant??!
I stayed 4 nights in early May- my room was exactly as the photos said, I chose a sea view and woke up every morning on my little private balcony looking at ships going in and out.
The shower pressure was excellent. The room was clean with plenty of space. It is worth bearing in mind, this hotel is a beautiful, eye-catching Modernist style building, built in 1977 - so almost 50 years old - and has many original features. I loved the faded peach and lemon of the outside and the decor inside is also quite ‘old-fashioned’ if all you are used to is sterile white hotel rooms with no character.
The pool is 15m with five or so lanes and ample shades and sun loungers, towels are provided and the bar is right next to the pool, with tree-shaded areas to sit around and enjoy a beer or a coffee. There’s also a little paddling pool so great for families with small children. The whole pool area has many trees and cacti and is just extremely nice!
Check out is 11am but you can leave your bag in a locked room and they even provide a shower after you have checked out.
Lastly, the area is sublime - far away from the clamour of Palma centre, with enough small restaurants and bars to sustain you on your trip - including delicious bakery Palma Bread and the amazing vegan cafe Ahimsa - so you don’t need to go to Palma. But if you wish to, there are 3 buses to take you there for €2 or you can walk on a pedestrian path along the sea.
I couldn’t have had a better stay it was...
