Family stay 2 adults, 1 children, 7 night. My family and I love Majorca. We come back every year. This time, we decided to try a different location on the island. After reading reviews, we decided to choose the BQ hotel. After staying at this four-star hotel, we had a mixed experience. Below are the pros and cons I encountered during my stay: PROS. Air conditioner, mini fridge, daily room cleaning and towel changes, large balcony, nice bathroom with newly installed shower, free bus service, large pool area, plenty of sun beds. Small shop inside the hotel. Fresh food. Cons: • Rude Staff: Unfortunately, I encountered several staff members who were unhelpful and even rude, which detracted from the overall experience. Only a few staff members understood English, which made it very difficult to communicate, especially at the restaurant or bar. Even when we tried to explain what we needed, they ignored us. • Long Waits at the Bar: The bar service was notably slow, with long waits for drinks, especially during peak hours. This was frustrating and made it difficult to enjoy a relaxing time at the pool. At an all-inclusive option, I don't think I should have to wait 20 minutes for a glass of tap water. (They only give tap water if you want sparkling; they use a machine.) The range of drinks at the bar was also very poor. The hotel does not have self-service for soft cold or hot drinks. • In-Room Issues: The room itself, while clean, smaller than normal family room. Also, on the day we arrived, I found many ants in the bathroom. I notified the reception, and they promised to send someone to clean it. When we returned to the room, I inspected it more thoroughly and found some dead bugs under the mattresses (they didn’t look like bed bugs, but they were still concerning) and many dead ants in the corners. As I understood it, the room service used some spray to kill the ants. I asked them to change my room, and they wanted to charge me £20 because I requested a room change. I was very surprised by the answer, as if these bugs were not bed bugs—and sometimes, yes, they can have cockroach and moth infestations—but it is not so dangerous. This explanation left me speechless. After 40 minutes, they decided to change my room. • Restaurant facilities. With all-inclusive, we have 3 meals, bar, and bar snacks access. Drinks are not self-service for lunch and dinner . Just for breakfast, they give access to the coffee and juice machine. Also, water is just from the tap, which has a very strong smell of chlorine. Not too much diversity in food, fruits, or vegetables, but it is fresh, which is very important. So I think it is more challenging for people with special dietary or allergy requests. Some days they do not display labels on the food. Repetitive food. The day before we were leaving, someone from the staff who had access to our room stole £60 cash from my hotel room. The money was in a small wallet on the table, just some extra cash that I had left outside of the safe. The staff at the reception didn't seem to care much and just said they would report it to management. This is complete ignorance. They could easily check the cameras and see who from the staff came into my room, but they don't want to do it until the manager decides whether or not to conduct an investigation. Overall, the hotel has great potential with its impressive facilities and location, but the service issues need to be addressed to truly meet the 4-star standard. As I mentioned they have and some positive things but definitely my family will not back again. Thank you for the experience

Let me start by saying that there is a lot of very hard working members of staff in this hotel and that this should be a five star review, but sadly it won't. Building is a bit dated on the outside but inside everything looks quiet modern. Grounds and pool are well maintained. Most of staff members are polite and helpful. Rooms are OK. Beds bit uncomfortable and there is very few plugs around. Cleaning is of good standard. Air con was working well. Shame about the lack of fridge (available at extra charge) or kettle. We were initially happy with a hotel but it all went wrong when we got unwell after one of the dinners. Hotel was in denial that it was them even though we were 100% sure what we ate and where. I spent a day in local A&E due to this. Not something you want to do on holiday. But what crossed the line was the way we were treated on the last day. After the whole food poison issue we were told that they will give us a late check out as we have very small baby with us (we asked to purchase this upon arrival but were denied and told have to wait till last day) on the day when we went to reception we were told that it's impossible to have late check out as they are fully booked!!! Asked to speak to manager but he didn't want to come out. We went back to the room to pack but decided to go back to reception and complain. Again manager chose not to see us but the story changed and for extra €25 we could have late check out. How magical there was no rooms but now it's OK. We decided to pay but I asked for a complaint for as I was unhappy with the situation. They try to tell me to complain to tour operator rep but I wanted to complain directly as this had nothing to do with tour operator. Had to ask three times before the form was handed over. Shortly after that the manager realised that apparently he made a mistake. Apparently we were told we can't have a late checkout as he locked the room or something and reception staff seen it as unavailable. If that's the case why he did not want to speak to us despite several requests and more importantly how did the €25 payment made room available again?! If it's unavailable it's unavailable, isn't it?! Don't believe the word they said. They gave me the money back but it only shows that they will go to great lengths to avoid complain being made. I filled the complaint form but have no confidence that it will go anywhere as the member of reception did not even know what to do with it! Bottom line is that if you will have uneventful stay you'll probably be happy. But if things will go wrong then it's only your problem. Good facilities and mostly polite staff but management is very poor. Take this to consideration before booking.

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN. Ours and other families were checked in and placed on the 8th/9th floor. Not practicable for buggy access as the lifts are incredibly busy AND outdated. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. Is it sensible placing families on the upper floors for health and safety? Children on balconies. Escaping with children in the event of an emergency. The bed we were given was marketed as a double room not a ‘twin’. So I would expect a double bed not to singles pushed together. 3 LEGS ON MY BED WERE BROKEN. The beds do not remain still on the tile floor and slide apart which makes it impossible and INCREDIBLY dangerous for anyone with small children who struggle to sleep through the night. I also witnessed one customer explaining this at the reception and requesting a double bed due to their child needing to sleep with them on occasion. He had to explain and argue for 40 minutes with 3 members of staff before they heard is VERY REASONABLE point. I was sitting in the room with my child crawling around on the floor, AS CHILDREN DO AND AS IS EXPECTED. When I went to the floor to play with her I noticed several ants. I then moved the beds (with one finger as they do not remain still) and found a swarm of ants under our bed. HOW IS THIS ACCEPTABLE IN A 4 STAR HOTEL WHICH MARKETS ITSELF AS A FAMILY HOTEL. I understand sometimes this cannot be helped but when I went to reception and explained and showed them the video I was met with the response of ‘we live in nature’ and a shrug of the shoulders. I was not combative or argumentative as I know this is not the receptionists fault so I was hoping to be met with a bit more empathy and understanding given I’m in a 4 STAR HOTEL. Other than Miguel at the snack bar and the staff who run the entertainment ALL of the other staff need serious training in customer service. Met with grunts and upturned lips when smiling or greeting throughout the day. On one occasion I brought our 1 year old down to breakfast in the pram by myself. I found a table that was set-up and got the pram positioned out of the way of other customers and staff. I then got a baby chair and as I was lifting my baby into the chair 2 MEMBERS OF STAFF approached me and told me to move to the table beside. No justification. No explanation. Just ‘move’ and a finger point. Accessibility and location is great and the bus services are also very good. DO NOT STAY HERE OF YOU ARE A FAMILY WITH YOUNG CHILDREN OR IF YOU EXPECT TO BE TREATED HUMANLY AS CUSTOMER. This may be a Spanish resort 4 star but if it was the UK it would be a 3 at most.

First time visiting this hotel as a couple in September 2025 for 6 nights (5 days). ||We originally booked under self catering but upgraded to all inclusive for 44euro per person per day - which is a bargain considering you get all meals, snacks, drinks and ice cream at the pool bar. ||Great hotel, is a bit on the smaller size but if you’re aware of this before you go it’s perfect for a small getaway. The pool is pretty deep though and for much of it you can’t stand in it so just be aware for this if taking any children. There is a really small extra pool for little kids if needed though! There were also plenty of beds and never a fight for them like you get at some hotels. However you do need to pay 10euro per towel with a 10 euro deposit if you wish to rent the hotel towels for the sun beds (this also needs to be in cash but there is an atm at the front of the hotel). This is usually pretty standard at most hotels though. ||The food for all inclusive has a range of options, and is standard I would say. There is a different theme per night for dinner but I wouldn’t say I was wowed by the food but it had plenty of selection and had what you expect for an all inclusive. The plates are sometimes a bit dirty but you just find a clean one if needed. The pool bar is good for quick easy food and is made fresh. You also get a range of free ice creams at the pool bar during the day (if all inclusive). Although I wouldn’t recommend the whippy ice cream / frozen gelato as it’s very yellow and not tasty at all! ||For drinks they do need to all be served by the staff and it’s a maximum of 3 per person so sometimes a little bit of a wait but nothing major at all. As expected at most hotels the premium spirits are not included in all inclusive but the majority of things are.||We didn’t look around the local area but we did take a free bus to palma nova which is a little day trip to do. Not much to do in palma nova but this can take you to further bus stops to go to palma, water parks etc. ||There is a supermarket in the hotel but it’s a tad pricey but nothing too bad - unless you’re needing more sun cream it was 22 euro! However that’s our fault for running out and you could likely get cheaper in palma nova. ||The room is small but suits fine for me and my partner but you may struggle if more people in it or if used to a larger space. The safe needs to be paid for if you want to use it. I would say the rooms aren’t that soundproof but there wasn’t a large amount of noise so we slept fine. Bed and towels are changed everyday. Air con can be a bit tricky to work but they have instructions for this. ||The staff at reception are friendly (especially the woman with short grey hair) however I would say most of the waiter and bar staff aren’t overly friendly but they are polite and “get the job done”. However they are probs nearing the end of season and sick of us tourists but you won’t get much conversation or quick to attend. We usually got served one drink at dinner but never asked for refills etc and it was difficult to ever catch someone down. ||We never saw the shows as we didn’t know where or when they were on - there maybe were signs but not clear to us! However we aren’t that fussed about shows so depends what you like. We also went when there is less kids so that might also be a factor. ||The weather was overall pretty good, some overcast days but nothing major - but this can’t be controlled by the hotel!! They did however try to do some activities like darts etc to keep folk entertained. There is also water polo and dancing in the pool on most days. ||Overall I would say it’s a pleasant stay for a short getaway in the sun. If you’re staying for a week or more you may get a bit bored as there isn’t much to do and it is a small hotel but it’s a great place especially for the price it is. There are also no major complaints from me. I think it’s very much a what you see is what you get hotel so if you have researched and aware of what it’s like then you ...

If you like ant infestations, unclean rooms, unaccountability, high prices and unfriendly staff, this is the place to stay! This is at best a 2-star hotel. I stayed for three nights. I woke up after the first night to hundreds of ants crawling in my room on the floor and on my luggage, and I had ant bites. I notified the front desk, who was extremely rude and abrasive when I said there was an ant infestation. They took no accountability. First, I asked for a room change. They refused, saying that first they will send someone to clean the room. There was not a single apology. No one came for hours to my room. No one investigated my complaint or the room promptly.

Housekeeping only came hours later, which they sprayed some chemical but left multiple ant carcasses on the ground and did not clean the room. There was a strong chemical smell, and when I asked for a room change, because I could not stay in that room without coughing due to the fumes, I was again greeted with rude staff and refusal. Eventually after a lot of hesitation, only one staff member was kind enough to help me move rooms. That single staff member was the only somewhat pleasant staff I encountered over the course of my trip. Low and behold, the washroom of the new room had again many ants crawling around the minute I entered the new room. Mind you, I had not eaten a single piece of food and the room was supposedly fresh, clean and a "nicer" room. In this new room, there were papers left behind the desk from the previous guest, who based on the papers had stayed 1 month ago. Meaning, they had not cleaned behind the desk for a month. Absolutely disgusting and I had to spend as little time as possible at the hotel.

I had booked through Expedia. I reported to Expedia within minutes of seeing the ants the first time, and they promptly called the hotel to attempt to deal with the issue. When Expedia called, the hotel proceeded to blame me for ants, saying I caused the ants to come because I ate in my room. I did not know I was not allowed to eat food in the room that I paid nearly $200 a night for. They treat their guests by childishly blaming guests and failing to take accountability for their own hotel's infestation. I have stayed in 2 star accommodation with cleaner conditions, ie. with no ants running around. They also failed to cooperate with Expedia by being completely unresponsive. On that note, maybe the hotel should provide a tissue box or even a mug in the room would be nice.

On top of this, the staff was completely unfriendly and unwelcoming. Not only was there no apology for the fact the rooms were in a disgusting state or the fact that the ant infestation ruined my vacation, there was a clear level of judgement towards solo travellers. For example, when I would walk into the hotel, those older walking in front of me in a pair would get a warm welcome. I would simply get stared at as I was walking in. If I am paying the same rate as others, not sure why the judgement is necessary.

Finally, this hotel is clearly eager to pinch money. The hotel safe and pool towels both had to be paid for, in cash. I have never had to pay to use a safe or towels in Spain, and never in Mallorca. If you are going to charge your clients for every single thing, you may consider offering the option to use card at least rather than maximize your profit by taking cash only.

Overall, this was a horrible, expensive experience. This hotel needs to learn first, how to treat an ant infestation and second, how to treat their clients better. I will never visit a BQ hotel again, which is disheartening given that they brand themselves as a premium resort experience and have many hotels across the island. Your money is better spent literally anywhere else...

Family stay 2 adults, 1 children, 7 night.

My family and I love Majorca. We come back every year. This time, we decided to try a different location on the island. After reading reviews, we decided to choose the BQ hotel. After staying at this four-star hotel, we had a mixed experience. Below are the pros and cons I encountered during my stay:

PROS. Air conditioner, mini fridge, daily room cleaning and towel changes, large balcony, nice bathroom with newly installed shower, free bus service, large pool area, plenty of sun beds. Small shop inside the hotel. Fresh food.

Cons:

• Rude Staff: Unfortunately, I encountered several staff members who were unhelpful and even rude, which detracted from the overall experience.

Thank you for...
