Room: Junior Suite Stay Duration: September 7 - 13, 2024
General: The hotel is located in a charming local neighborhood, right in front of the beach. You have the option to spend the day on a deck chair by the pool or head directly to the beach, with easy access from the hotel. However, if you want to use the deck chairs and parasol on the beach, there is an additional fee. The sea itself is incredibly clean, warm, and captivating. It was relatively calm, the locals were very friendly, and I felt extremely safe. The room was equipped with a coffee machine and a minibar, with drinks included in the price.
Staff: The reception, cleaning, restaurant, and massage staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. I’ve rarely encountered such welcoming and attentive staff at a hotel.
Gym: The gym is well-equipped, although it lacks a cable machine. It offers three chest machines, two back machines, four leg machines, along with three benches, plenty of dumbbells, and treadmills. Towels are provided in the gym, so there's no need to bring one from your room, and there are designated bins for disposing of them after your workout.
Restaurant: I only had breakfast at the hotel, and while the food was okay, the coffee was excellent. The juice was quite too sweet. For lunch and dinner, I explored nearby restaurants such as Picadilly (traditional Spanish dishes), Smashburger (just okay), Fusion (nice), and La Vaca Olivia (fantastic, highly recommended).
Massage and Spa: Due to a back injury, I opted for a massage and spa treatment (the spa access is included with the massage). The experience was great—the massage therapist was very attentive and helped alleviate my pain. The spa, which includes a sauna, steam bath, and jacuzzi, was clean and well-maintained.
Transportation: The bus stop to the city center and the cathedral is just a 2-minute walk from the hotel. The fare is 2 euros per ride, and the journey takes around 30 minutes.
Room Service: If you don’t need full room service, you can simply ask the cleaning staff for fresh towels and a new bottle of water each day (you’re entitled to one bottle per day).
The Suite: This is where I have my only major criticism. When I booked the room, the photos showed a suite on a higher floor with an exceptional view. However, upon my arrival on Saturday, September 7, I was given a suite on the first floor. There were trees and a wall blocking the view on the left, which was not what was shown in the photos on booking.com. Additionally, the air conditioning was very weak, causing me to sweat throughout the first night, and the refrigerator was warm and not cooling anything.
I reported the situation to the reception. They asked me to return the next day after breakfast to see if a room change was possible. A technician was sent to check the air conditioning, but he explained that it was part of a central system that couldn’t cool any more than it already was. Eventually, they provided me with a fan.
The next day, I was informed I could move to a different room on Tuesday (after already spending 3.5 days in the first-floor suite, leaving me with only 2.5 days to enjoy the upgraded room). On Tuesday at noon, I finally moved to a room on the 5th floor, with the sea view I had originally paid for. The air conditioning worked perfectly (I even had to turn it off at times), and the refrigerator was finally cooling properly. Only then did I start to fully enjoy my vacation.
Since this was my first vacation of the year, I was quite disappointed to have spent over half of it in a subpar room. In my opinion, the first-floor junior suite should be priced lower than the higher-floor suites and categorized differently. Therefore, I rate this...
Read moreGood things: Sea view from top floors is great. the hotel is right on the beach some areas of the hotel have been updated (new lifts) but not in the part of the hotel where I stayed spacious rooms every evening has an entertainment programme which is quite nice
Things to be improved (some massively): it doesn't say and I didn't see any pictures specifying that there is NO door to the bathroom. It's a sick design for me but if that's what the world needs these days I think it should be advertised so normal people can have a choice before getting inside the room. the hotel requires a refurbishment really badly. I would say in the current state it should be i the 2 stars range (not 3, I've allocated a significant amount of time thinking about this based on a full week spent there). Old lifts (1970s), old and dirty carpets observed in a few places not just isolated cases, damaged walls. first floor balconies are not private and are missing some privacy windows so people staying in other rooms can't easily look at you or inside the room food is worst than the one found in the UK and that is difficult to explain how since Spain has amazing cuisine and local products are incredibly tasty. Dinks with the taste of bad squash is hard to process in my mind since Mallorca is an island where lemons and oranges are in every garden and every place that serves refreshments also offers fresh orange juice for cheap prices. For a week at half board which costed close to 2 minimum wages for Spain (only the hotel half board, no flights included) I would have expected a higher standard since I know what Spain can offer in this area. Same goes for all the eggs used (marked with 3 - caged chicken eggs). A lot of corners cut but for a high price paid by me and others schedule daily activities later in the morning. Being woken by bin collections and bush trimming before 8am is not great. Small things, massive difference. It was quiet at the weekend and that was great.
Other things include no kettle by default (remember it's advertised as 4* hotel), paid luggage scale, old TVs some with generic remote control with no menus. No point in detailing these as they are not the end of the world but in the end they all add up and I would probably not have mentioned them but as I explained to staff I have a busy life and can only afford to be away for 1 or 2 weeks per year and then I am willing to pay the price to relax and not worry about all the above but in this case while I enjoyed the time away from the office and the great sea views it was difficult to get past all the issues.
Please take this as a constructive feedback. While you lost a client please find some passion and give the place the vibe it deserves for the benefit of future clients and also for the staff.
The pictures include a the points above good or bad since it's easier to say bad things but i tried to keep my feedback as honest and close to.my experience as possible. It wasn't all bad but it could have been...
Read more*this is the exact feedback I gave to the hotel. I just copy/pasted it to spare some time: "Everything at the reception is beyond dated and needs repairs badly. Hardly would consider this to be a 2 star hotel. I had been in hostels that looked better
First if you decide to NOT have a door at the bathroom, your customers should be made aware before booking (it would have been a no from me). Although I have paid 1500 euros for 7 nights for a sea view, I was given a first floor room initially with partial sea view, and with no privacy from the other rooms (you need to separate those terraces, so my neighbors don't look straight in my room). Rooms are extraordinarily cheap, with dirty walls, toilet seats smaller than the toilet, broken dryer held together by a piece of elastic, single ply toilet paper, no kettle, no coffee machine, no absolutely nothing that a 4 star should have. Very disappointing that you do charge for 4 stars though...
Guys, just go and have a look at the state of the carpets on the hallways: all are very dirty, with dated and broken walls. Also have a look at the state of the ceiling in the main lobby, the women bathroom in the lobby and your lifts. How are you claiming and charging your customers as if you would be a 4 star hotel is beyond my power of understanding
I have no idea how in a country that has a very tasty cuisine and fresh produce you managed to put out such low quality meals. I had half board but ended up avoiding to go to breakfast and dinner: at breakfast you're using low quality salami, cheese, and the fruit was either not ripe or gone bad. At dinner I had paella just once and that was the only time I have enjoyed my meal. Everything was dry or just generic with no taste. Very repetitive. The labels didn't state what is in the dish...have you heard of allergies??? I am allergic to mushrooms so I need to know what is in every dish.
This was a rip off in my opinion. Except for the location there is nothing going on for your hotel
You need to go to other 4 star hotels and see the difference for yourselves. There is no excuse in taking so much money knowing that your walls are cracked and dirty, that your carpets are beyond dirty, that your lifts are old and dirty and that you are using low quality produce for...
