Although, the other reviews will say some interesting facts which are true, but in a nutshell the place is amazing. In my mind, this hotel deserves a ten star evaluation. The rooms are eloquent and the location is to die for. The only thing that I can say is the entrance to the hotel was hard to find. I have enclosed a picture of the entrance so that my readers will not have the same challenge as I did. As for the room, the bed is huge and the room would be considered to somewhat romantic. The bathroom is nice but please keep in mind the shower is set up European style (walk-in type). If your planning to shower for a long period of time; there can be a potential of flooding your bathroom floor (picture enclosed). The shower system has a shower head and a hand held shower head so that you can direct the water to where you want it to go. The amenities is great! You are given free stuff from the fridge (soda, water, and juice). They also provided a toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash, shampoo, shaving gel, razor, lotion, chocolate, coffee, pen, and a small note pad. The lobby is small but the staff is awesome. They are polite, caring, professional, and they do speak and understand most of the English language. They do offer their guest a light continental breakfast in the morning but unfortunately I did not take them up on it. If I should ever return to Salamanca there is no doubt in my mind that I will return to this place. And please keep in mind — Spain does not sleep! This hotel is right in the square! WARNING —you will be awaken to loud noises through out the night and if you are a light sleeper you will get very little sleep BUT THAT IS WHAT SIESTA ARE FOR!!! You have...
Read moreSpent 1 night here, since I was a kid I had always wanted to stay at the Plaza Mayor. The site in unbeatable. Room overlooked the Plaza and the views are postcard perfect. The room itself was comfortable for me, if I had been with my significant other I would probably have chosen their biggest room as it can be a little tight for 2 people. I had arrived in car from Madrid so parked in at the very close Santa Eulalia 24hr parking, a 5 min walk. The main con I would have is that the AC is not available all the time, as someone that lives in the USA and accostumed to have it available even if freezing outside, that may be something to consider. It was a little warm initially in the room but opened the window and it cooled quickly in the afternoon to the point than in the morning it was very cold, but the heat was working well and warmed up the room in no time. There was no noise issues coming in from the Plaza, very good noise insulation. Bathroom a little tight, but functional. I like to stay at luxury hotels when I travel (Park Hyatt, Four Seasons, etc) but this was a very charming hotel and will for sure come back to it next time I come to this...
Read moreWe have stayed in many great hotels in the world but the experience in this wonderful hotel in a stunning location overlooking the Plaza Mayor in lovely Salamanca was second to none. Much of the credit for this goes to the front desk team of Blanca and Javier whose personal service and personalities were exceptionally good. The best we’ve experienced anywhere. Nothing was too much trouble and the very unexpected last night treat of sparkling wine was a great touch. They really made our stay a special one. Thank you. ||The rooms are spotlessly clean, very comfortable, beautifully appointed and have a free mini bar. The view across the Plaza is very special and the noise from the square minimised by the double glazing and door shutters. It can still be noisy but it’s part of the experience. ||There is no restaurant but there are many many good restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. Salamanca is a fantastic place for a two day stop. Highly...
