We stayed 3 nights, it's time to review. We have mixed feelings about this hotel. Why some elements are worthy of the 5 stars. Other areas are really lacking. I'll start with Rooftop bar is good but not great very forgetful with orders but staff very friendly. Breakfast and dinner are very good in terms of plenty of choice and tasty. But some service members let it down again just forgetting that you have asked for coffee or tea. It can be a slow process getting a cup of coffee to your table in the morning.The tea room with cake and pastries is excellent quality and great value. Again yesterday afternoon asked for tea for 3 from a young man twenty minutes later still no tea. The independent restaurants are very expensive. The Steakhouse and Japanese is outrageously priced. General inspection around hotel, it's starting to look tired. The rooms could do with a re vamp a paint and a good clean with better linen. Carpet not a good idea looks filthy. Bed is comfortable.The pool area has to be the biggest negative. Looks very tired, the back of the hotel needs rendering a painted. The pool has loads of tiles missing the hydro spa under maintenance, no where near enough sunbeds for the demand but loads of tables and chairs taking space not being used. No bins around pool area for rubbish. Why not? A lot of staff standing around doing nothing and service is average. A glass bottle of water blew over yesterday, nobody looked interested in cleaning it up with my children and others walking around barefoot. We cleaned it ourselves after asking 3 different staff members. I've stayed in better 3 stars when it comes to the the pool area. It's looking very tired. I'm sure if I came back this time next year, the pool area would be no different and still with a sign "under maintenance" The crows are annoying also hanging around scavenging drinks or food. Very over staffed and managed this hotel, with this in mind the service should be only 5 star but isn't. Why do you need 4 men to handout pool towels??? This is a 4 star hotel in my opinion. All in all it's been a nice finish to our time in Sr Lanka but this place has much need for improvement to be anywhere near to being 5 stars. Also Check in and check out far to slow.
