Heladiv Tea Club — Restaurant in Colombo

Took my nephew and his mate for a quick lunch. (first visit to Lanka..) Approx 10 people outside and 6 inside. Hot day so sat in. Modern. Comfortable. Cool and reasonably good music. Ordered 2x milkshakes and an iced lemon tea. Ordered 2 x beef burgers and chicken and mango wrap. 10 minutes later milkshakes turned up with a lime juice. Returned lime juice 5 minutes later lemon tea arrived. 30 minutes later the burgers and a smoke salmon baguette arrived. WHAT THE!!!!?? Sent Baguette back. Tucking into burger distinctly had a very off fishy taste. After 1 bite halted eating. Went to counter. Explained the concern. Still wrap wasnt assembled. Paid full bill except for wrap. Rp3600. No reciprocation. No apology. Couldn't care less. After all there are many more idiot tourists to come. And whilst I was there i observed 2 other issues. And this was with 16 customers. Sad...

Something named as "tea club" is probably not the first place you'd think of when wanting some cocktails, but this is one of the best places for them around Colombo. They do some excellent tea based versions of classic cocktails, and on most nights they have great offers (1 to 1 free etc) They also do great teas, both hot and cold. The cakes are pretty good, especially the death by chocolate and the carrot cake. Other food items are pretty basic, but good enough for the price. The interior is nice, but needs a face loft pretty badly. Some of the wallpaper is peeling off, and the couches have a few splits here and there. Service is fast, efficient and friendly. Most importantly, they leave you alone and don't hover around, asking if you need anything more etc etc. Tip: try their version of the Long...

We went to this place on a Friday night and to be honest the service they provided was one of the worst I have ever experienced in my life. We ordered a dish at 7.00 p.m. and they couldn't serve our dish even till 8.30 p.m. and even after all that, the manager was very unprofessional towards me and my colleagues. When we first complained regarding the delay at 7.50 he didn't promptly attend to it. And again when we asked him about the at 8.15 he replied to us saying "I told you know that these things takes time". We only ordered a plate of deviled chicken. How much time does a person need to make this dish. Isn't one hour more than enough? Anyhow this is the treatment we received from this establishment. I'll be never visiting this place and I'll be telling everyone about this poor poor poor service...
