Read moreJawa Lounge is a chain of coffee shops in Sri Lanka with âaround five 5 branches" (around?!), according to their website. I dropped in at their Fort shop in Hospital Street two days ago for a cappuccino.
The shop has a cozy interior with a charming, intimate ambience. A great place to a sip a coffee while conversing with your friends or family or just staring at passers by in the street through the glass front of the shop! If you are alone and have some time to kill, this is an ideal place to read a book or browse the net on your phone in peace and quiet because the place never seems to be crowded.
Their menu features a variety of beverages, their speciality being, of course, coffee. They also have a snacks counter serving a selection of savouries and sweets. The prices seemed to be a little on the high side.
I ordered a chocalate muffin followed by a cappuccino. They claim that they serve "world's best coffee." Well, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, because, while their coffee is alright, it is debatable whether their coffee is superior to coffee served in any other coffee shop of the same class, at least judging by the cappuccino I drank.
The staff are friendly and courteous
Anyway, if you are in the Fort area and looking for a place to chill while sipping a coffee, you should consider...
Read moreCappuccino was not good at all. My rating is 15 out of 100 . Just a NesCafe you get from a coffee machine tastes better for SL RS 100. One of the worst Cappuccino I tasted. It was watery with little bit of milk. I do not know the reason why they served this type of low quality Cappuccino. There is a milk/ food shortage in Sri Lanka due to the 2022 economic crisis so this might be the reason but it is not acceptable to serve something that taste watery when you do not have ingredients. The cakes were very dry and it seemed like it was about to expire. Just wasted SL RS 4700 for low quality coffee and cakes. I did not want to go here but my friend insisted yet I paid for both of us. Service was not good either. Their WiFi does not work properly. This place is no where near a France/UK coffee shop when it comes to coffee, WiFi and service. Well i was right from the start when I told my friend lets go somewhere else because she did not her Cappuccino. If you do not have ingredients that means you can not make the coffee item. That is the logic you have to follow . Do not dissapoint customer satisfaction by serving low quality products. The AC did not work well or automatically turned off due to the power cuts...
