Marine Suites — Hotel in Colombo

This is a newly opened apartment complex style hotel. The 4th floor apartment had ocean view and a balcony with chairs and table, to enjoy it. They have breakfast for USD $8 per person, Continental, fruit, hot oatmeal porridge, (French) toast, jam, marmalade, butter, juice, tea or coffee +$ chicken sausage or bacon & eggs to your preference. A grocery store, restaurants and Burger Hangover (the cheeseburger is the closest to a McDonald's kids burger) are walking distance. The staff are all very pleasant and accommodating. Noisy city streets at dawn so keep your airplane ear plugs. 3 bedroom suite accommodation was a good value for 2 adults, 1 diabetic senior who needs the kitchen and 2 children.

Items we had to request from reception and were eventually provided: • Cutting board & knife • bowls and large spoons • 7.5 kg capacity washer, Dry rack and a bag of Laundry detergent; an electric laundry dryer is not available

If ordering a cab or food delivery by PickMe or Uber, be certain that you confirm map location "pin drop" or the driver may go to the wrong street. The in-house restaurant / room service is worthwhile.

My peeves: • Heavy wood door used for the bathrooms which make it noisy, disturbing others sleep if used at night and it's sharp edged door handle • The smaller of the two bathrooms is Asian style drain room where much of the bathroom floor may get wet after a shower • No dish drying rack for the kitchen • One of the balcony door locks was installed inverted and opened a bit, when a strong storm rattled the door, allowing some rain water into the room.

We had only one unexpected guest, a small house salamander which was gently and quickly chased out by staff 😄

Like most hotels in Colombo, local calling is not possible and the room phone is just for reaching room service or reception desk. You can easily get a SIM card and temporary phone number or just use Airalo app for an eSIM data plan only.

Bank of Ceylon and People's Bank are the places to obtain ATM cash...

We were 4 person group. We booked one of their apartments from booking.com for the price of 150$ each night which is definitely not cheap. Here are the things you need to know before booking this hotel.

🔥Caution🔥: As of 19/09/2025, there is no swimming pool of this building. Also I saw a construction starting in front of the hotel. Maybe it will take more 3 to 4 years to finally block the sea view of this hotel. Anyways, here is the details of this hotel.

Room: 3 bedrooms (two master bedrooms, one single bedroom). All of the bedrooms had sea view and a soothing breeze going through all day and night. The flat had a kitchen, two washrooms ( one attached and one common), one dining and drawing room. Here is the most important thing. THE SINGLE BEDROOM DIDN'T HAVE AC WHERE AS THE DRAWING ROOM HAD AN AC. WHY??? IS THE DRAWING ROOM MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE BEDROOM?? THIS IS A VERY ILLOGICAL ACTION. Anyways, aside from that, everything was good about the room.

Kitchen: Authorities, if you wanna have the courtesy to provide some plates inside the kitchen deck then also do leave some spoons, knife and pan. How should I use the plate if i dont have any other utensils.

Service: Room service was good. They work fast. But the receptionist should be trained for much more...

If I could give zero stars, I would. Extremely disappointed in this place. Save your money and go elsewhere. After messaging and asking if their kitchen included pots and pans and they said yes, we saw that the kitchen was empty. No cutlery, no plates, no pots or pans- nothing. After confronting them about this they said “oh you have to ask for things then we’ll bring it, we don’t keep it in the rooms.” This is the first hotel where we were inconvenienced asking for each spoon or each plate seriously such bad business. The manager is no better - charged us $35 AUD for a food stain on the bedsheet which could’ve easily been washed. Obviously he did this on purpose on the last day because we told him we weren’t happy that our room wasn’t made, no wifi on first day and no utensils in the kitchen. Two days in a row they forgot housekeeping. So each and every thing such as shampoo, towel etc we had to call and ask. Eventually they disconnected my room phone so I stop calling them. For all the mistakes they made and the inconvenience they caused us, they could not even let one bed sheet go and had to charge us. Money grabbers. Would not...
