Very good except for a few things that can be easily fixed. Have the melanzane dessert! - December 2017
In short: Calm and nice atmosphere, great service, very good food. Expensive, but that's normal in Switzerland.
People, occasion: We were four friends (two couples), going out for our festive dinner a few days before Christmas.
Price: We had four starters, four pastas, 3'5 desserts (one was a half-portion) and a very expensive bottle of wine, for a total of 430fr. When I say an expensive bottle I don't mean costly, costly would be OK. But 145fr for something you can buy on the street for around 50fr is an expensive markup even for Switzerland. Anyway, we were celebrating Christmas so we went for it.
Food: the three different starters were all great (two of us had the same). Two of the main course pastas were great, one was nice but not fantastic (the same pasta that wasn't great was ordered by two of us). Same with the desserts: two were great (you have to try the melanzane cioccolato!) and one was just OK (passion fruit crème brulée, ordered by two of us). I think the issue is with the description, because the dessert we were served was a passion fruit cream but not at all like a crème brulée, so false expectations that had been generated by the dessert's name were not met.
Service: good, the only thing keeping me from saying "very good" is that the waiter forced me to order a half dessert because it was "too rich". I would’ve appreciated the warning (I guess they've had people saying that dessert is "too much"), but took issue with him imposing the size of my dessert. Let me decide if I want death by chocolate, please.
Verdict: we'll be back to try more pastas! The experience was all in all very good except for a few things that can be...
Read moreWe went here based on good Google reviews but, after seeing it from the outside, we almost turned back. We wish we’d gone with our gut. This was by far the worst restaurant food we’ve had anywhere for a number of years. It started with a strange, un-seasoned amuse bouche. It continued with stodgy, poorly baked bread. Then the mains happened. A stodgy greasy burger with more of that truly awful bread and a paltry few chips on one side, and a plate of thoroughly disappointing pasta once again with no seasoning and masses of oil on the other side. It was bizarre food that would be disappointing from a greasy spoon café, so to pay 30CHF per main was pretty insulting. The only positive was the beer, which was really lovely. The service was...
Read moreHere you'll get some real pasta alla carbonara, the way they're made in Italy and even perfected. They make a pistachio version of the carbonara but even if they're interesting, don't think it's worth choosing if it's the first time you come. Pasta are made in-house and are cooked al dente. Heads-up : they're so fresh and so al dente that they stick to the teeth. Consider 30 chf for a pasta plate. It's enough to...
