What a find! We’ve dined in and ordered delivery from Shanti and I can safely say that the quality is both great and consistent.
We’ve had the following in total on both occasions: Oignon Pakoda - onion fritters with spices Chilli Calamari - grilled squid scented with ginger, chilli & fresh lime Butter Chicken - chicken curry simmered in butter, tomatoes & spices Poulet Briyani - chicken and rice simmered with spices Tikka Masala - chicken tikka in tomatoes and onion sauce Thali Agneau Set - lamb curry & 3 vegetarian dishes kerala style served with papadum and basmati rice Crevettes à l’ail- sautéed prawns in garlic paste into a sauce of onion and spices Garlic naan Cheese naan
And we loved everything… Everything we had! The basmati rice was fluffy and along with the naan that just soaks up all the delicious flavourful sauce/gravy.
Service at the restaurant itself in general was good but it took a while for someone to come take our order. Our appetiser and mains arrived pretty quickly though! And it arrived at the right temperature, not too hot yet better than warm, if that makes any sense.
The portions are generous in the sense that one portion is good for two! But no one wants to share because it’s so good and we want to try more dishes so it’s perfect for lunch the next day. Taking into consideration that it is 33 CHF making it $50 SGD which is pretty costly but that goes for most F&B when dining out in Switzerland.
However, all in all, delicious authentic Indian food and definitely worth...
Read moreMe and my wife went to the restaurant (without reservation) around 1845. My wife was pregnant (around 8 months). We asked for a place, they told that they are full tonight. As, at that moment there were very few people so we kindly asked if they can accommodate us and we plan to eat quicky. They said very arrogantly that come after 2130 (or wait until 2130) as they will be free and then we can have food then. The way they said really shocked me. On that, I said that we will not wait for 2.5 hours only to eat at your restaurant. On that, they said go wherever you want.
They could have easily said NO to us in a polite way but I really felt that the staff was very arrogant and highly disrespectful. But thanks to them, on that day, we tried for the first time another Indian restaurant (Nandanam) nearby.
I wish all the best to the staff and the restaurant.
PS: We live in Lausanne since 14 years and often eat in Indian Restaurants in Lausanne area (Indian Zayeka, Royale India, Laxmi, Maharaja, New Delhi, Chandigarh Tandoori...
Read moreHands down the WORST Indian food I have ever eaten (except for the mango lassi which was excellent)! And before you read this review, please note that I lived in southeast Asia for over 15 years and have been to India many times, so I have eaten a lot of Indian food before this experience.
Today I had the vegetarian baingan bharta lunch set menu. First, the baingan bharta was unrecognisable- the eggplant was so mushy and the dish lacked flavour or rich body as it should: it was slop with curry powder. There was a watered cabbage dish with no flavour and the raita was the consistency of watered down yoghurt. The dhal was equally bad and lacked flavour, but I ate it as I was so hungry. I am now in bed with such a horrible upset stomach thanks to this meal.
Positive comments: my son had the tikka masala and loved it; the service was excellent and friendly and the restaurant is decorated lovely and super clean. And as I said earlier, the mango lassi...
