While visiting Interlaken we stayed for one night at the "Adventure Hostel Interlanken" and found it to be the perfect hostel for what we wanted!
Arrival: We arrrived in the middle of the day at around 2:30pm and found that the reception was closed however, they had a self check-in box at the desk and there was an envalope with my name on it! The desk opens for check-in at 4pm if you need to meet a staff member.
The Staff: We met some staff membera later in the day and they were very helpful pointing out things to do in Interlaken.
The Room: The room was very clean and comfortable. The bed was the typical continental type double bed with two seperate douvet covers. The bed was very comfortable. The room had a number of multi socket extenders with four outlets in each extender. This was ok as it is a hostel and it is an old house. The room that we booked was an en suite with a large enough bathroom. The bathroom was very clean and the shower had very good pressure! The one thing that I did not like was the shower curtain as it kept blowing and sticking to me as I was in the shower. Since it os a hostel I had already packed my own toiletries as there was none in the bathroom. I would suggest that you bring your own as well!
The Common Area: There is a kitchen area but I think it is off limits however, there is a large tea/coffee making station with a fridge, microwave and toaster area. The restaurant seating area is large with loads of seating! They have a decent spread for breakfast but as with all hostels its first come fist served.
Friday & Saturday Night Fondue: There is a little pop up fondue restaurant that operates out of the Hostel's kitchen on Friday and Saturday night's! I highly recommend booking a spot and enjoying Interlaken best fondue!
Amenities: The hostel has wifi in all the rooms, there is an elevator in the center of the building however, it only operates between 7am and 7pm., the hostel provides a laundry services as well! Its is located just a short walk from the old town of Interlaken where there are bars and restaurants and it is surrounded with spectacular views of the mountians. In the lobby there is a wall with an aboundance of tourist information leaflets so there is pleanty of ideas for things to do!
Wheelchair Accessibility: There are a number of step in the lobby once you go through the front door however, there is a lift in place for when it is required. We stayed in a double bed room on the ground floor and I am sure that there was another bedroom on the grond floor which might also be wheelchair friendly!
Overall Experience: I recommend staying in the Adventure Hostel Interlaken. It is a great hostel and it is in a good location just a short wal from the town! Our stay on the 31st of March for the two of us was at a reasonable price of CHF 121.50. I did notice that the price for the busier season goes up considerably which I think is a little bit annoying however, all of Interlaken's accomodation goes up! I am going to rate this at solid 4 out of 5 stars for me. Definitely a good...

I stayed two nights in a little room with 3 beds and a small bathroom. I had my 16 year old daughter with me, and we booked via the hostel’s English website. In the USA, hostels are very clear about what rooms are co-ed, usually a large dorm type room. Hopefully the hostel updates their English site to better reflect this, as it wasn’t clear. The first night was fine; we shared the room with another female backpacker. The second night I asked at the front desk if anyone had booked and was told no, we would have the room to ourselves. Imagine my surprise to be woken up from a deep sleep at 11:30pm to the door being unlocked and a young man standing over my bed!!!
The hostel’s after hours number did not work and we were left in a very uncomfortable situation. The young man was also from the USA and had never had this happen at other places he’s stayed. In such tight quarters this was extremely awkward and I felt very unsafe. I felt like I’d put my daughter at risk. Had I known this could have happened, I would have stayed elsewhere or booked the third bed also. Not being able to reach staff was quite concerning as well (we followed the instructions on the handout they’d given us, to no avail). I did not sleep that night, and the hostel barely even offered the young man or me an apology. Never again.
The German version of their website has a male and female icon to indicate the rooms may be shared by both sexes. Hopefully they update the English site as well. My review is to make female travelers acutely aware they might be sharing a small room with men.
The location is pretty, and it’s a small walk into town. The beds make so much noise; very creaky. The rooms are clean and the mattresses are comfortable. Breakfast is ok. WiFi was decent. The vegan fondue was incredible; book in advance if you want to eat at...
Read moreThe hostel experience is the worst I have had in Switzerland by far. No safe locker for luggage in the room, there's a luggage room is the basement without surveillance or lock so forget about it. Beds are cheap noisy squeeky shaky metal frames, and you will feel the metal bars through the mattress probably unless you sleep very flat. Can't move or get off without waking up your bed mates. No tablets to put your stuff on the top bed, so if you want to drink water either keep your bottle with you on top and it will fall down during the night and wake up people, or wake up everyone due to the bed being noisy and bad quality. Either way, do not recommend. In front of a moderately busy car road so expect headlights and car noises. Also, due to the lack of luggage storage and tight occupancy of the room, expect the room to have no free space to relax and be filled with luggages. Oh, also, no decent common room for chilling. There's a single couch in the hallway, and then the "common room" is a table literally in the middle of the restaurant they operate downstairs with people dining and servers walking all around, so not really an available chilling room. Few positives: clean, shower works, self...
