To start, I rarely will rate below a 2 stars, but this was not it. I was highly anticipating this restaurant because my paragliding guide, who has lived here forever, recommended it, but Interlaken surely has a few better Swiss food options and this is not one of them. If you care about the actual food, skip this place. I care about food far more than service, and this place was a huge disappointment. I ordered the beef stew, which my waitress recommended, and the meat was unbearably dry and chewy, not even the gravy could save it. Seriously, it was the worst-quality beef I can remember having at a restaurant. The Pinot Noir was excellent, but that was the only highlight. Thad a reservation for 9 and showed up early at 8:45. On the phone they had said the kitchen closed at 9:30, but when I arrived no one attended my table until 8:58, when the waitress rushed over and told me the kitchen closes at 9. Meanwhile, the table next to me placed their order at 9:15 without issue. There was no silverware on the table, and I was never checked on once after my food arrived, which was very frustrating.

The most frustrating part is that my meal for one person, including the dish and two glasses of wine, was $50 Franks. For that price, I expect far better quality. I expect better, truly. Read moreIn August 2021, we have been attracted to this well-located and beautiful location by its good reviews. After a hard day of hiking and outdoor activities, we were ready to be delighted by a huge portion of fried meat and potatoes + beer. We were eager to taste some local food in the so-called more traditional and important swiss restaurant of the city with an amazing atmosphere and sunset view. However, from that moment, everything was disappointing. Let’s start from these premises: We have been living in Switzerland for almost two years, and we know very well what an excellent Cordon Bleu tastes like. The one that we ordered wasn’t even close. Indeed the texture of the breading was very poor and dry, and altogether the dish was disappointing. The same could be said for the Schnitzel… The worst part of the dinner, however, was the service: we waited around 45 mins for our dishes to be served while other clients (german speaking) were served before us even if their order was done after. We couldn’t get the waiters' attention to order more water or ask for the bill, while other clients were treated much more carefully. Starting again from the premise that we have been living in Switzerland for almost two years, we also know when Italians are not appreciated customers. The prices are quite high, also for the Zurich standards, over 90 CHF for one Cordon Bleu, one Schnitzel, two beers (the pleasant part of the dinner), and water.
We are very sorry for this experience, and we rarely submit negative reviews; probably we just witnessed an unlucky night, and we are spoiled from the average swiss quality of meat and kindness towards the foreigners that we...
Read moreNice place, cozy, quiet, tidy, service great, personnel multilingual. The food? some great, some... eh? Alpine roestli? Terrifically good. The cowboy schnitzel? Not so much.
A few things to note beforehand: a) they have a seasonal menu, which for the winter season, is shorter than what is uploaded on google maps b) they have serving hours. during day you can serve only drinks, only late in the afternoon you can serve something to eat c) corona EU certificate + ID are mandatory
Now about the food.... I served the Cowboy Schnitzel "with everything a cowboy needs". it came with boiled vedges (bland), french fries (cheap frozen fries, the kind one can find at McDonalds) served with cheap ketchup BUT with a great, REALLY great schnitzel. Very crispy, tender and seazoned. It's a shame because replace the fries with wedges, or sweet potato fries or even in-the-oven baked carrots with tomato sauce and it's sure to please many.
My wife on the hand had the Alpine Rostli which is something of a gem. The rostli is shaved potatoes with chesse (swiss), topped with bacon and an egg. It looks and it tastes amazing and the cheese just melts in the mouth. It's a great selection and a great combination of ingredients. whoever chose it, knows what's doing. Nontheless, leaving the restaurant i felt remorse for not having ordered the roestli. Not sure if it's worth mentioning, but the Rot Jungfrau washed everything down very well. not bitter at all, but flavorful, a tad bit sweet, not that spraking but foaming. would order again. Cobow Schnitzel: 19 Swiss Francs Alpine Roestli: 24 Swiss Francs Rot Jungfrau Bräu: 6.5...
