TLDR: Rude and odd service, especially if you're an English speaker, but food is good.
Full information: On Saturday 25th March, myself and two friends visited Ach'i to celebrate one of my friends’ birthdays. We sat down in our seats, ordered our food and began eating our meals. The food was great – no complaints there. My friends and I all talked and laughed together. The noise in the restaurant was loud in general with other people also talking and laughing amongst themselves. We naturally had to talk louder than usual to hear each other speaking, just like everyone in the restaurant. Abruptly and in not a nice way, we were told by the waitress that we were being too loud. All of us were speechless and confused... In a full restaurant that was very busy and already so loud? We were English-speaking people, surrounded seemingly by those who were speaking Swiss German, so we felt discriminated against for our language as no others were approached. Perhaps our voices stood out more, but it felt more about us being stereotyped as "loud English speaking expats". Also, being told to be more quiet (although it didn't make sense), could be acceptable if at least it was raised in a respectful and considerate manner. Then to make matters worse, we were VERY rushed out of the restaurant. My friend was just about to open her birthday presents at the table and the bill was already placed in front of us without us even asking for it. The waitress then proceeded to clean the table and put four new menus down right in front of us as we sat there (pushing around the gifts on the table). Then she brought in 4 new people to sit at our table and just had them stand next to us awkwardly while we were not even done. We had booked the table in the first place and it had only been an hour or so (nothing long)! We found this very rude and we were treated poorly. We were overall very disappointed about the service here, we felt so uncomfortable, especially as we were there to celebrate my friends’ birthday. We couldn’t even talk to hear eachother well and we were rushed (basically kicked) out. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to any expat, especially if you speak English. They seem to have a huge...
Read moreWent to this place after seeing the good and sizable number of ratings and reviews that they received. Especially when they touted that they specialized in DongBei (North East région of China) dishes. However, my group was very disappointed with the quality of food. The skin of the steamed dumplings are too thick (though the meat fillings inside is ok) - 3/5, the sweet&sour chicken is ok - 3/5, stirred fried vegetables is the best of the lot - 5/5, the chicken in chilli oil - the chicken pieces are tough and likely due to the use of frozen chicken, but the mala sauce that it is cooked with was ok -2/5, aubergine cooked in garlic and YuXiang sauce was really bad. The vinegar used for the dish tasted really weird and we hardly touched the dish - 0/5. The place is also extremely stuffy, we had to take turns to step out to get some fresh air during our meals. The only redeeming grace is that the service was very good and attentive. I think that the reason that they have gotten such a good ratings could be that they had adjusted the authentic dongbei food to suit the more western palate. Understandable since they are operating in Switzerland. A suggestion is that they should cook their authentic style for the people that knows DongBei food or even Chinese food. We were conversing with the service staff in Mandarin which is the native language of the Chinese. The menu need not be large but the quality of the real DongBei dishes must...
Read moreVisiting Zurich from USA, needed a break from the bleak grocery options we had available to us on Mt Rigi so we decided to look up Chinese take out since we are familiar with most of their menu options. Took a tram from Triemli with our 3 year old and were invited inside by a nice older gentleman who gave us a place to sit out of the rain while they made our order. They were very nice interacting with our daughter which we always appreciate. The restaurant is very clean and very ornate compared to establishments back home in the states. We ordered spring rolls, chicken skewers, fried pork dumplings, vegetable Udon noodles, mango chicken and orange chicken with sides of rice (all for about $100 which is comparable to what we have back home) and The food was ready in less than ten minutes. they packaged everything very nicely for our trip back and even included a neat reusable bag that my brother decided to keep. the prices were much more reasonable compared to some of the restaurants we had dined with so far and we really appreciated their hospitality and convenience. Would definitely dine here again, if we...
