Regrettably I only spent one night at this hotel. The rooms were exceptionally equipped with everything you could possibly need. Their in-room TV gives you all the info needed on the hotel along with their schedules in multiple languages. I personally used it for Chromecast to watch my own shows.

I suggest wearing the kimono style bathrobe provided by the hotel everywhere. It was very comfy and great for the hot weather. Wearing it informs staff that you are staying at the hotel so checking your room card is unnecessary. They sell these in their downstairs store.

The outdoor onsen is located across the street at Mu Reserve. It was a simple bath area with showers and lockers provided on-site. I suggest doing multiple hot and cold cycles to fully enjoy.

Considering I went during their off season, their restaurant for dinner was a bit lacking. Some of the dishes were empty or the food was expired and left for too long. The staff provided exceptional service and offered to have them cook the dishes fresh for myself. If you have the stomach I suggest trying one of each dessert as they were all worthy of the 5-stars hotel label.

Their breakfast was very light and delicious with a fresh omelette station. All the food was fresh but the fruit station was empty by the time I went. They offer take out cups for coffee. I'll admit that I had one too many of their cream corn dish. 🌽

I highly recommend 2-3 nights to enjoy the area and all their pools and onsens and coming with your significant...

Checked in 2018/06/17, kid was a bit sick, so we stayed mostly in the room and quite enjoyed the spaciousness of it. Before checking out the following day, kid became feverish so we informed them we’ll havta ask for refund for the prepaid breakfast, they agreed over the phone. Upon checking out at 11:00 they claimed it was paid by a different credit card, although I insisted it was my card. Rushed out to get the wife and switched with her to calm the increasing more irritated crying baby who’s burning 39 degrees (C) by this point. Wife rushed back and told me they said it wasn’t her card either. Swapped baby duty with wife yet again only to be met with their under-staffed team of one now checking in about 6-7 groups of families. By this point I walked up to her and showed her the card that I told her I used to pay. She then proceeded to finish the check-in and took her sweet time to recheck. Then, of course she blamed it was system error and had the audacity to tell me it’ll take 3-6 weeks for them then process the refund!

Hence the 1 Star rating.

If you’re wondering why they have pretty decent reviews lately , it’s got everything to do with the freebies they’re offering. If you’re looking for hassle-free family-vacay, look elsewhere!

For your reference: Name of unprofessional employee: Chuang, Shihyi 莊詩宜 The supposed inept employee of record...

Usually stay on the mountain nearby but fancied a change.

Pros:

  1. Rooms are beautiful and well maintained, give a great vibe.
  2. Location is more convenient as far as close to convenience stores and the centre of town.
  3. Outdoor pool is fun and heated, with features for kids.
  4. Room service great, punctual and polite. CONS:
  5. Fatally flawed design to be split across 2 buildings seperated by a public road.
  6. Utilisation of space is bizarre, important areas like check in are side tables, onsen is next to the car park elevator in a nook. facilities require crossing the street.
  7. Hot spring faucet in room did not produce the effect I expected having stayed in other hot spring hotels. If it is true hot spring water it is heavily diluted.
  8. Worst experience was the restaurant. Terrible layout, very small choice of food, extremely slow service, with untrained staff. Family member was served a frozen piece of fish, the staff did not apologise, until escalated, still pretty unsatisfactory.
  9. Children's area staff were also strange, I layed a coat on a bench by a window, the staff closed a full length blind till it basically squished my coat, without trying to ask me to move it.

CONS far out way the pros. Will definitely not recommend this place, and will not stay in future. Incredibly...

Mu Jiao Xi Hotel, Great Hot Spring & Spa Hotel! The Stay! Having stayed 5 days at this wonderful property we have learned much why Ilan is so famous for its springs & spa’s We enjoyed not only an exceptional stay at a truly luxurious room, fitted with its own spa, which we used daily, we had great hospitality all around! While Ilan isn’t the prettiest city in Taiwan (reminds me of Taipei 37 years ago) it does have its wonderful outskirts, incredible beaches and of course the quality of the water, rich in Minerals is second to none! The hospitality of the Hotel was incredible, although the English language isn’t as prevalent as in the capital, the effort by all team members where superb! We can highly recommend this property, it’s simply a great way to Relax and enjoy! 2nd best Breakfast we had in Taiwan! (Best was at Méridien Taipei) came down early! 6.30, tried to call service, no one picked up! 😆😆😆, but front office staff super helpful, took me to the restaurant Servers & Cooks super polite, made it happen! Was a good morning! Perfect start to our stay in Ilan! Congrats ! #mutable #mujiaoxihotel #ilan #gourmetravels #hospitality #exceptiolanism #taiwan #travels
