Do NOT stay here if you are travelling solo - especially if you're female. They do not prioritize safety, and if something happens when you stay there.
I stayed here for four nights when I went to Taiwan.
First red flag: No reception. Check in/out is automated. This means if there are any issues, you have to contact a number or visit the OTHER hotel.
While this may be fine if you have a fine stay, if something goes wrong it's a huge problem.
The hotel room was small, water pressure was weak but the shower water was hot, bed sheets had some stains on it. Not a fancy hotel, but not terrible. The air con worked well, the bed was comfy enough.
Location was good - very easy to get around from here, but lots of other hotels in the area. Better bet is to book somewhere else.
Also, I'm not sure why websites like google say they have free breakfast? This is misleading, as they don't. They offer water bottles, two tea bags in the room, and a little packet of cookies/crackers.
However - please note there is no chain on the door.
My last night in the hotel, it was 10:55pm and I was in bed scrolling on my phone. The next thing I know, a man I did not know used a hotel key card to OPEN MY DOOR AND WALK RIGHT INSIDE MY ROOM.
There was a strange MAN walking into my room at nearly 11pm. I screamed, jumped up scaring this guy back a few steps thankfully, slammed the door shut, dragged the chair in front of the door and sat there trying to figure out what happened.
I tried calling the hotel, texting the whatsapp number provided. They didn't answer, nor did they respond.
I booked through Agoda, so I reached out to their customer service, which was not very helpful. The lack of urgency when I said I was worried about my safety as a solo female traveler was disappointing. Anyways, they contacted the hotel (who of course responded to them, but still hadn't responded to my messages).
The hotel staff said that it was CLEANING staff walking into my room "by mistake" -- why is cleaning staff entering rooms at 11pm? Then they use the excuse that the cleaning staff was trying to enter room 402, and made a mistake and entered my room 4002. There were NOT any 3-digit numbered rooms in this hotel. The hotel explained that their OTHER hotel has 3-digit number rooms. So not only was this person entering the wrong room, but the wrong hotel. This man didn't knock, they didn't announce themselves, they literally walked into a room at 11pm in the wrong hotel.
Eventually after the agoda customer service staff said "The hotel says they're sorry" - I told them that the hotel has not responded to my messages still, and they finally responded to me, of course saying the same things. But a mistake like this and over half an hour later they still haven't apologized to the guest??
So in the end, all I've gotten from the hotel/agoda is that they're sorry and it won't happen again and "no one has entered my room" (after someone just did). The only thing the agoda staff had to offerw as "Really sorry you had to experience this" and "you can leave a review of your experience" Of course I was pissed. I was scared. I was shaking shaking. I was on a solo trip and someone has just walked into my room as I'm about to go to sleep. How was I supposed to sleep?
The hotel sent me a message with the front desk number (which I already had and called previously) - saying "please call if there's anything we can do to assist you!" I'm like what are you going to do, pay for my therapy? Nah, they offered a "free 2-hour late check out!" (which they charge less than $10USD for) Like I wanted to stay longer.
Anyways, TLDR; someone from the hotel entered my room unauthorized at nearly 11pm, the hotel didn't want to apologize for it, and their response was disappointing. I can't imagine how they would respond to a more serious issue, since safety clearly isn't a priority.
*Update, after I left they offered me a 19$ refund for my experience after I left (I paid $55 a night for...
Read moreWe booked their superior city view (via Agoda) and have been assigned to the top floor. Everything is a-okay! Check in & out is a fun experience for me. The room is big to accommodate all of our belongings, clean but not spotless. The water dispenser is located infront of our door. Hotel’s in front of 7-11 and quite near from Ximending & other resto’s.
There’s a mishap (coke explosion) in our room, and our bed sheet and floor were all wet and sticky - we did some cleaning though and messaged the staff thru whatsapp to change sheets. Note that they clean everyday & replace towels and water, except when you hang the DND sign. They’re very accommodating.
We haven’t got a chance to visit their other branch due to busy schedules. 🥲
Suggestions: full body mirror and a little tlc on some corners of the stand where you put some tissues & other items (as it’s quite dusty)
Overall, we had a great stay and...
Read moreGreat location, about a 5 min walk to ximen streets and 10 min walk to ximen station. There’s also a 7/11 just across the street. Rooms were very spacious and seems newly renovated. Despite having a room that is street facing and on the 2nd floor it wasn’t noisy. Do note that the Chengdu outlet does not have a a front desk staff. To check in/out you have to call the intercom and self serve.
Even though you can’t leave your luggage at the chengdu outlet directly, you can still go to the ximen outlet which is a few minutes walk away to leave your luggage after checkout.
Overall had a very good...
