I recently had the pleasure of staying at a family-owned Chada House guesthouse in the old town center of Chiang Mai, and I have to say, it was a truly wonderful experience. The guesthouse was located in the heart of the old town, and it was the perfect base for exploring all that this vibrant city has to offer.
Upon arriving, I was warmly greeted by the family who ran the guesthouse. They were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The guesthouse was charming and cozy, with comfortable beds and clean, spacious rooms. The family had clearly put a lot of effort into maintaining the property and ensuring that it was well-equipped and well-maintained.
One of the things I loved most about my stay at the guesthouse was the opportunity to experience the rich culture and history of Chiang Mai. The guesthouse was located in the heart of the old town, and it was easy to walk to all of the city's main attractions, including the night bazaar, the Wat Phra Singh temple, and the Chiang Mai City Arts & Cultural Center. Overall, I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Chada House in the old town center of Chiang Mai.
I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and authentic experience in this beautiful city. The family was incredibly welcoming and hospitable, and the guesthouse itself was charming, comfortable, and well-located. It was the perfect base for exploring all that Chiang Mai...
Read moreI stayed here for a week during Songkran festival (Thai New Year). I booked this not knowing what to expect as it was SO cheap-the equivalent of £3 per night or 120 Baht for a dorm room! A lot of hostels were fully booked already because of it being busy for the new year. However I absolutely LOVED staying here and extended my stay by a few more nights which I hadn't originally planned. It was in a great location, within easy walking distance of the city centre, attractions, markets and major bars. I didn't pay an overpriced tuk tuk to get around the city once! I also found a couple of fantastic little cafes on the doorstep too; 29 Cafe and the Corner Cafe. ||||The wifi connection was super speedy and there was a strong connection in the rooms. The beds were ridiculously comfortable and everything was really clean. Each floor had its own bathroom facilities. The sites receptionist Nueng was so lovely and did her best to accommodate for any of my needs. The only downside was that the rooms were supplied with fans only, so if it was a hotter time of year this could get a little sweaty! The positives definitely outweighed this though! 100% the best budget hostel I've stayed...

Pros: -Well laid out room with space for luggage and clothes, which is something many other hotels in Chiang Mai lack -Desk suitable for working on a laptop -Good location in the old town, walkable to restaurants but quiet at night -The entire hotel is clean and well maintained -Each room has a nice balcony area
Cons: -Terrible sewage smell in the bathroom. They provided air freshener sticks to cover it up but the smell permeated through. I found I could temporarily reduce the smell by pouring water down the drain so that helped, but it was honestly a relief to leave this hotel. -Poorly designed shower area. The shower nozzle points straight forward with no way to bend it down, so I had to hold it in one hand while showering to avoid shooting water across the shower. -Shower area isn’t fully separated from bathroom so the floor gets wet. -No common area. This isn’t a hotel where you can meet other guests (maybe that’s a pro for some, though!)
Overall, the room was better than other hotels at this price point, but the...
