Na Tha Phae Hotel — Hotel in Chiang Mai Province

I've got to admit, I've been putting off this review for a long time and I just figured out why--this place is so good I don't want to share it with anyone. It is now my "go-to" lodging when I visit Chiang Mai. ||||It's quiet, in a soi (small street) off the main road but is convenient to ThaPae Gate, Loi Kroh Road, and within walking distance to the night bazaar.||||It's clean. Much cleaner than many hotels in Asia with 5 star ratings.||||The rooms and furnishings will take you back in time, reminiscent of the truly old guest houses in Bangkok and other parts of Asia.||||The staff is first-class and they will do everything to make your stay an enjoyable experience.||||It's very affordable. Most nights the rooms are from $30 to $35 USD.||||The only downsides are: There is no elevator but it's only a three-story guest house so that's not a big deal. There is a 2000 baht deposit which needs to be paid upfront but will be gladly refunded upon check out. They have stocked refrigerator so I guess I understand the need...

I got this room for a very good price but it is well maintained, clean and has enough space. This hotel does not have a lift but i stayed on the 3rd floor.Location is great, very near Thapae Gate with lots of food options and a 7/11 across the street. The popular Loh Kroh barstreet is nearby and so are the nightmarkets.cleaning staff is excellent and so is the other staff, very friendly and helpful.Only thing is this hotel does not have an active reception. Upon checking in the door was open and I had to call a number on the desk so the staff could come down from an adjacent location. The front door is open during the day but also often at night until somebody closes it. Very easy to bring guests but still.. You get a keycard so you can get in and ou tas you wish but the staff has to work reception for one or two other hotels too so oftentimes there is...
