1 star for the service. The whole crew seems to be young and work like they are selling snacks at a university's canteen. Not professional (for this price range of Udon people do expect a better customer service for sure), especially the girl in black outfit on Friday, 9 December 2022. I hope the owner looks more into this before it's too late. Why put someone who is not doing a proper job there to ruin your reputation? What she did was like passing food right in front of customers, I mean you're Thai and should know this is quite rude for Asians. Putting stuff (like bills, paperwork, phone, etc) loudly and careless while there were customers at the bar?? Plus her tone of voice and some other behaviours. Just awful! Please train your staff properly before losing your business slowy. I'm sure some customers don't even bother to write you a review but please don't forget that word-of-mouth is more powerful than...

The home-made udon noodle here was good , it's not the gluey type, good for children and old people as well. Tempura dish was good, not oily or heavy.

Green tea came in a big beer mug.(The biggest I have ever seen for green tea glass, creative I guess ;)

The udon soup was light. (People who like 'mild taste' would love this.)

Oh, and they didn't use a serving tray to serve the hot soupy udon bowl and tempura dish to my table, just carried the hot bowl in one hand and tempura dish in another hand.

I was so afraid that the hot soup might accidentally drop on someone because it was heavy and hot.

I hope the young staff use serving trays every time they serve something to their customers, as a part of good service standard.

Overall, this was a good eating experience in cnx. I encourage all udon lovers to visit this place for good udon experience...

There was a queue when we arrived for lunch so my husband put his name on the wait list. We were told it’d be a 30 minute wait but we were pleasantly surprised to have a table not long after😍 We were given seats by the counter which was perfect. It’s where the ‘action’ was. The service were prompt and efficient. I had the beef udon with tofu skin - it was a huge bowl of deliciously chewy handmade udon noodles, flavorful dashi broth and mounds of delectable beef slices! 😋 Although the portions were way way too large for me, I still managed to finish eating it because it was that GOOD!! My husband has the clam udon in a mild broth. We also had a serving of karaage and mixed tempura. Our iced green tea abc peach soda was fabulously refreshing and came in huge jugs!

We plan for another visit soon to try the creamy mentaiko aka...

Gin Udon is a very modern and beautiful Japanese restaurant. At the front of the shop you can see the staff making the Udon noodles. Majority of the food here is Udon and I find that the udon here is well made and delicious, although the soup felt a bit underwhelming, I enjoyed eating the noodles very much. If I were to visit Chiang Mai again in the future, I will come and dine here again! Note: be aware that if you are going to come and dine during lunch, you should arrive at the restaurant before opening hours due to limited number of seats and a decent amount of customers waiting for the opening time (so you don't need to wait). While waiting you can watch the staff make noodles in front of the shop windows!

A charming eatery by the canal in Chiang Mai’s old town. The udon noodles retain their original chewy texture. The soup noodles are light and flavorful, while the stir-fried ones are a bit sweet for my taste. Friendly service. The restaurant is clean, with Japanese-style restrooms. We came back to the restaurant for a second visit in the afternoon and noticed a lovely little café right next door. We're also very thankful that the Udon restaurant had an air purifier — such a nice touch! The staff were very welcoming, and we ordered the curry, which was delicious. Just a small note: be careful with the tempura egg — if you bite into it too quickly, the runny yolk might splash out unexpectedly!
