Kinnaree by Vanessa WU — Restaurant in Khlong Toei Subdistrict

My husband and I visited Thailand for the first time this summer and while in Bangkok we were staying at the U Sukhumvit Hotel downtown near the huge mall and the Asoke BTS sky train station. We asked the desk staff if they knew of a good Thai restaurant nearby (within walking distance) and they gave us the information for Kinnaree. They even provided a Tuk Tuk ride to the restaurant for us. It was close enough that we could walk back on our own though.

From the moment we walked onto the property we knew it would be a good experience. Amidst the bustle and noise of down town Bangkok, this place is tucked back in a sort of alley/side street and is very quiet without lots of foot traffic going on in front of it. They have lovely gardens and water fountains and the atmosphere is just lovely.

The menu offers a great variety and we tried a little of everything from drinks to appetizers to dessert and everything was not only delicious but the presentation was FABULOUS! The wait staff was extremely friendly and prompt and courteous.

For most of the time we were the only people in the whole restaurant and I couldn't believe it with a place that nice!

The only problem we had was getting our card to run through to pay for the meal. There was a problem with the credit card machine and we ended up getting charged 3 times on accident, but they were SO apologetic about it and gave us cash for the 2 extra times it was charged. It definitely wasn't their fault, machines make mistakes and they handled it really well.

This was one of our favorite meals and restaurants in Bangkok! Everything was very clean and nice including the bathrooms. I highly recommend this place if you want good Thai food in a relaxed and fine dining atmosphere without breaking the bank! This was just about the most beautiful restaurant we have eaten in in Bangkok. We had a long day of travelling from Koh Tao through Samui to Bangkok and were looking for somewhere good to eat as we were ravenous. Well we absolutely couldn’t have picked a better spot!

The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeously decorated, nestled amongst trees and water features. It truly is stunning. The staff were immediately some of the most friendly people we have met throughout our time in Bangkok (and we’ve been to this city four times now), they couldn’t be more accommodating and friendly!

The food was sensational. Every dish had FLAVOUR! It didn’t just taste fried or put together, you could really taste each meal and ingredient and the way the sauces complimented what you were eating. Honestly if I could leave more than 5* I would just for the food alone! I would usually take pictures, but we actually ate it all before we got chance to take any photos of the food!
