Stayed here for 1 night on a quick visit to Samet. Don't believe the few overly negative reviews on here. The staff were all excellent and really friendly and helpful, always smiling, chatty, and super attentive. Constantly on the move brushing the sand from seats before we sat down and collecting the fallen leaves as they fell from the beautiful overhanging trees as we sat in their shade and moving the umbrellas to make sure the guests were in the shade, the place was spotlessly clean. I hope the owner commends them for their good work.||The food was delicious to the extent that we seriously over ate and I will have to work off the extra pounds that I gained on my 24 hours there! I would recommend the fried chicken wings (we had 3 plates). Life doesn't get much better than being sat at a table under a tree on a beach, with a cold beer and some crispy chicken wings, watching the world go by. ||The room was great. We stayed in room 2 (which is a family room with 2 beds so costs more) and had great sea views and deck chairs on the veranda. I think 2,3,4 and 5 have the best views. They also let us check in early at about midday. But this depends on if someone else checks out early of course. Unlike many Thai hotels where the beds are like concrete, the beds here are super soft and comfy so I was very happy. They have chilled out music playing on a radio, western tv channels and to my absolute delight a subscribed sports channel so I was able watch my home town Bournemouth play in the Premier League! Some reviewers mention a slight smell in the bathroom, it's not that bad and covered with air freshener. I think some people forget that this is a small resort on a small island in Thailand and not the Marriott in Bangkok. But I would choose this place over a 5 star in Bangkok any day. ||The only negatives are not to do with this resort, so I can't mark them down but will mention them. I think this is on one of the more busy beaches on the island so as with many Thai islands there are a lot of speed boats. However, in front of the resort there is a large roped off area meaning you can swim safely and no boats come ashore. When we arrived by speedboat further down the beach it was really busy and the crew were shouting at swimmers to move out the way as they dropped us off. A major plus for Summer Day is that their beach and sectioned off part of the sea didn't have any drop offs. There are some big busy beach restaurants nearby so the peace was a little interrupted by some live music but you can still escape at the resort. It's fine if you don't mind being around some activity and makes for a good walk on the beach at night. ||When we checked out we were guided to a songthaew taxi which took us to the pier where we got the fast catamaran back to the mainland which only takes 10 mins. We will get this both ways next time. ||I'm a tough person to please and can sometimes be overly critical. Ive stayed on many Thai islands but this resort definitely stands out as one of my favourites. ||I'll add some...
Read moreKoh Samed is really a really nice place! Beaches and waters are clean and kept that way pretty well! ||||The Summer Day is at the main beach, which has a lot of services, lunch and dinner places etc, and only 1 minute away from the "main street".||||The hotel has only 6 rooms, and all the activities, breakfast and lunch happen right at the beach. The staff is very friendly and doing really their best. Rooms are tidy and in good condition.||||There are every morning readymade sunbeds for each room, and you don't need to bother reserve anything, yes! ||||Almost 100% of the guest are westerners, and most of them with children, must tell something of the hotel quality?||||Owners' daughter "Tod" (? don't know how to really spell it)) is very kind and speaks pretty good english. Also, I need to mention one member of the personnel, she is a really nice and competent, sort of 2nd in command, I guess: Nat is her name. A truly great person. If owning a place, I would like to have this loyal and diligent worker!||||Our family will definitely coming here again, to Samed and to Summer Day!||||Ps. make sure to find the optimum route to main street and 7-11 just after room 6! Very interesting route saving time also! 😃||||Pps. hint for a quick trip to see sunset: Afternoon, hike to the end of the Sai Kaew beach, then go pass the mermaid, go to the end of that beach. Then to road, and hike to Ao Prao beach at the western part of the island. During hike, make sure to wonder the strange empty lake... enjoy the sunset, then back to Sai Kaew Beach Resort with taxi, that way you get very close...
Read moreWe did not expect much when we booked a room at this small boutique resort along the beach, but it surprised us and we ended up regretting not having booked a 2nd night there. Worth every penny! ||||The room we had is right in the middle of the 6 rooms they have and the view is just amazing. The beach is literally just a few steps from of the room, which you can see the beach from the glass door and have an amazing view during day and night. Such a relaxing and romantic stay. Room is very clean and nicely decorated, no issue with hot water/aircon. We had a walk along the beach and I would say it's the best resort along the beachside in the area. Free breakfast is tasty with good portion. Staff...
