We’re a family of four from the UK with kids aged 12 and 14, and we had a fab stay at Maya Resort from April 7th to 19th in Villa 3. We picked this place because it’s super close to Fisherman's Village, and there’s a 7/11 just across the street – so handy!||The villa was absolutely gorgeous and really well-kept. It’s got two blocks with a nice pool right in the middle, all secure with a tall fence with sliding gates. On one side, there’s a big double bedroom with its own bathroom, plus a kitchen/diner and a modern living room area with a large TV.||The kitchen had all the essentials – loads of cups and plates. The only thing we couldn't find was a pair of scissors. We didn’t really use the oven or stove, but the microwave came in handy. There’s a big fridge/freezer that was perfect for keeping our drinks and food cold, and the mini bar items in the fridge were priced pretty reasonably.||On the other side of the pool, there were two large bedrooms with a shared 'jack and jill' bathroom in between, which was just perfect for the kids since they had their own space.||In the middle of the villa, there’s a nice pool with easy step access and a covered seating area with fans to help keep you cool. The fans even helped keep the mosquitoes away. There were a few tiny ants around, but they were really small and didn’t bother us at all.||The villa was cleaned every three days, and included changing the bed sheets and towels, which was great. They provided us with eight pool towels, super handy for our daily swims!||Now, about the location - it's in the best spot, just a 2-minute walk from the main Fisherman's Village walking street. If you turn right out of the village and take a left down a little track, you can get into Fisherman's Village that way too! There are a few bars and restaurants on this street that are easy to miss if you don't know about them. We loved the Lemon Sports Bar, where you can play pool for free, and the toilets are really nice and clean!||On the day we left, we had a 6pm flight, so we asked if we could stay in the villa until 3pm. That was no problem at all since the Villa wasn’t booked until the next day. The owner was super friendly and didn’t charge us for the extra time. It felt like we gained another day around the pool which was really appreciated.||The taxi ride from Maya Resort to Koh Samui Airport took just 12 minutes, so it was super convenient.||Besides the villa, there are some cute bungalows with kitchenettes. The resort also has two big pools that we could use, plus a trampoline, a little pet corner, and play stuff for smaller kids.||We would definitely...

We booked and paid for a room through Agoda in March for the week of Christmas (at a very competitive price). However, when we arrived at the resort, our reservation was not in their system. The resort was fully booked, leaving us without a place to stay during the busiest week of the year. Initially, the owner appeared distressed about the situation and offered us one night in a room that was available until he could contact Agoda, as he claimed they were unresponsive. The next day, we had to book another hotel for the rest of the week at a much higher cost. However, they said our daughter could use the resort’s facilities and was invited to the Christmas celebration there. Despite the disappointment, we decided to make the best of a bad situation, keeping the energy positive for our daughter and trying to salvage a pleasant holiday.
When we contacted Agoda ourselves regarding our reservation, they informed us that the resort had canceled it in October due to a large group booking. However, this large group was nowhere to be seen, and no one had informed us of the cancellation. The reservation was still marked as confirmed on Agoda’s system. Agoda attempted to contact the resort, but they didn’t respond.
During the Christmas celebration, every child at the resort received a gift—except for ours. The next day, we were presented with a bill by the Thai manager for the one night we stayed, at a price twice as high as the rate in our original booking. The Hungarian owners instructed the Thai manager to issue this bill over the phone but refused to discuss the matter with us personally. After explaining the situation, the Thai manager went out of their way to find a gift for our daughter the next day.
Based on other reviews, I anticipate a defensive response from the resort, which should serve as further evidence of their lack of responsibility and fairness.
The resort is beautiful, children will enjoy themselves, and the Thai staff are incredibly kind and genuine. However, please be very cautious regarding the dishonest and...
