A gems of French Restaurant in Samui, with one full course designed by Chef Chez Francois, it will be an unforgettable journey that he gave you.
Restaurant is run by Chez Francois himself, with Thai waiter & waitress.
Chez run this restaurant with concept that it is his house and customer are his guest, so he cooks by himself every dish, control quality from start till end and it delivered!
from the start the mushroom soup is very tasty and served in right portion, follow with starter seafood plate with three dish to share in the middle, Beef tatar, Sushi smoke tuna Duck & Foie gras
then we have been refreshed by sherbet ice-cream
then the main course we have choice of meats, - Duck, Beef, Beef cheek, NZ Lamb, and few more.
I choose Beef Cheek which boiled for 8-9 hours, it is very tender and tasty mywife choose NZ Lamb and she really love it, the smell of Lamb is good without odor smell of Lamb meat, it is very wonderful!
Dessert come in small 4 portion, all delicious and special thanks to chef to decorate our dish for our anniversary!
note : earlier Chef use Aussie Lamb, but because of its odor, some customer cannot finish the dish, but told Chef it is very delicious. so chef let his crew taste and try to figure it out until he get NZ Lamb, after that most of customer can finish dish without any leftover.
this story was told by waitress who service our table, she is very polite and full with service mind,
so this restaurant is excellent in food and service, decoration / atmosphere will be like you go to your friends house.
totally recommended, if you have just 1 night in Samui, this place should be the top list you should try to reserve in advance!
i want to give 6 stars...
Read moreMy wife and I recently visited Koh Samui, Thailand.Among the our "things to do list" on this trip was to enjoy a fine dining experience. I started by looking for lists of the best restaurants on Koh Samui. Chez Francois was on every list. Their menu was comprehensive and reasonable. We called the restaurant and made a reservation for a Wednesday evening at 6PM. Although the Website states that they open at 6:30PM we were accommodated without question for the 6PM request. We chose the four course fixed price diner. The first course was a chefs selection which consisted of a carrot soup with a petite tomato salad. My wife chose the French Onion soup for her appetizer and the Filet Mignon with mushroom sauce as her entree. I selected the Pan Fried Scallops with Seafood Ravioli as my appetizer and the Pan Fried Sea Bass as my entree. Our meals were meticulously prepared and served to us flawlessly with all the appearance of a food magazine photo shoot. Every course was an absolute picture. The food was truly outstanding. The beautiful appearance of our food was a prelude to the delicious flavors of this chefs most excellent cuisine. My wife and I both eagerly shared samples of the dishes presented to us. A tray of four desserts were presented to each of us to conclude the fourth course. Again, the presentation was equal to the flavors of these wonderfully pleasing confections. Their appearance was something I might expect to adorn a Holiday Table. The service was friendly, informative and very laid back. We were made to feel as if we were enjoying this most pleasurable meal with friends. I added a cup of espresso with a Sambucca to finish my...
Read moreWe were excited to go to Chez Francoise and had high expectations.
When we got there we felt it didn't have much atmosphere. Almost a bit dingy looking, expecially when you consider their prices. The door to kitchen was open all the time and it's a very small indoor restaurant, so we had kitchen smells the whole meal. We went away with our clothes and hair smelling of fried food. A bit off-putting really.
To compound this, the table next to us had a child crying every few minutes, in a very small restaurant. There was no music most of the time or so quiet couldn't hear it, even when the child wasn't crying. We could occasionally hear what sounded like the microwave bell when it finishes. May be it was some other timer rather than the microwave.
There were olives on the table which really didn't taste good. It would have been better without them.
We were not impressed by the amuse bush either - very heavy. Infact, a small portion of what tasted like plain pumpkin soup served in a small cup would be a better description.
We had the set menu. The fillet de beouf was nicely cooked. The salmon was OK. The potatoes and vegetables were very plain - like canteen food. I enjoyed the dessert. Overall the food was nothing special
The wine list for a restaurant with these prices was extremely limited. Water at 235 per bottle (not shown on drinks list) is a bit expensive.
We paid 4,500 (only had 2 glasses of wine and 1 bottle of water for drinks) - very expensive for Samui.
Overall...
