As a solo traveller planning staying only 2 nights, the price was fairly good to me, for the designs (only the lobby as in the photos) and good reviews here. Little did I know, I should have gone for twice the price somewhere else, just so it wouldn’t ruin the first day of my 2 day trip..
I was offered a room on highest floor, 5th. The lift opened and it felt like an oven. No ac across the hall, it was 3pm in Bangkok weather. It’s the highest floor closest to the roof. I entered my room, even hotter. They use a very small weak single AC. I was sweating in the heat for an hour but it didn’t cool down. Requested to change the room and moved to the 4th floor, slightly better. If you book, be aware electricity will cut off 10 minutes if there’s no motions. There’s no way to keep ac running. If you’re out for a whole day, it’ll take you an hour for the room to cool down or maybe never. Same thing for my 2nd room.
Noise. It wasn’t big problem to me until 4:30am when a lady next door got on the phone. It wasn’t loud, just a normal phone call. I found out the wall is super thin, not concrete. I could hear everything. I was so upset to the point I wrote to Agoda I wanted to cancel my 2nd night.
Location: you will need at least 12 minutes to get to cafes, restaurants or a bit more for bts. The closest one is 7/11 like 200m away. Else there’s nothing, and I mean nothing.
If you like the pictures, like I did, keep in mind it’s just the lobby. You won’t stay in the lobby. Plus it doesn’t smell nice in the lobby either, there’s like a clogged drain kinda smell. It’s quite a shock for me since most hotels I stayed in Bkk have very welcoming lemongrass/fragrance scents in the lobby/hallway.
Staff: The day I wanted to change the room, the male staff did assist me. Tho there was no apology for the inconvenience, he gave the impression I was being picky and he just wanted to get it over with. The second day I was telling the other new staff about the noise, they were helpful and offered to change my room again. I found out that there’s nobody staying that night next door, so it was much better.
Overall, I got what I paid for. For the same price, I believe Bkk has way more better options. This is very average and just...
Read moreThe good parts: The staff at the hotel was amazing, they were able to help us with everything we needed and they were really nice as well. Next we have the breakfast. They got two options were we can truly recommend the American breakfast. It was made to order so everything was warm and it tasted really good. Even their orange juice was great. We have been to a lot of hotels and no one has had a better orange juice so far. Then we have the atmosphere of the whole hotel. If you want to take some really good pictures this is the hotel for you. Everything is well designed with a Japanese inspiration great for photos. Lastly we have their locking system for the hotel rooms, you won’t need a key or a card which is very smart and effective to use.
The bad parts: The walls between the hotel-rooms. We could hear EVERYTHING from our neighbors and we got woken up by them every single night when they had their fun and it felt like we could have been in the same room as them, you could even hear it from the hallways. Because of this we don't think it’s a good hotel for kids to stay at because you might have to make some explanations depending on your neighbors.. The location is quite far away from the BTS and other things in Silom so you either have to walk a lot or grab a taxi everywhere. To give them a plus they do have a lot of restaurants around the area and they also got a list of the best ones at the reception so they know about the problem and tries to make the out of it. Lastly we have the other breakfast option (the healthy choice). The breakfast in itself tasted really good with a lot of fresh fruits, but it was way to small, I ordered it the first day and had to leave hungry because you had to pay extra for more food. This I did not like because I could see that they put a lot more money into the American breakfast compared to the healthy one. They also didn't have a chef working on Mondays so then everyone had to take this option which was bad when you pay the same prize. The good thing about this though was that the staff knew it was way less food so they gave me extra this time because I left hungry...
Read moreTraveled solo to Bangkok, and Beanstalk Bangkok was perfect for what I needed in the 3-star category. At first, I thought I would be close enough to Yaowarat (Chinatown) but I didn't realize how massive Bangkok is or how horrendous the traffic is between 9 am and 7 pm. However, it wasn't the clean, design of the hotel itself or its amenities that impressed me, it was the young, friendly and attentive staff. I must have met at least 7-8 of them and I appreciated their positive energy and enthusiasm. You don't always get that from older hospitality workers, particularly outside of Asia.
The Beanstalk staff came through when I had left my iPhone in a Grab taxi. Finn and Jet, helped call Grab taxi's customer support line and stayed on hold for over 30 minutes for me even as guests were checking in. They were able to reach the Grab taxi driver who was a good Samaritan, reporting it to Grab himself. He wouldn't be able to drop my iPhone off until the late evening and by then, Finn and Jet would be off their shift. But the entire staff knew about the situation due to good internal communication (unfortunately didn't get the three ladie's names, but they were great). I got my iPhone back as promised that evening and couldn't be happier. So thank you Beanstalk team.
I would definitely stay here again because of the staff and value. The rooms are basic yet clean and comfortable enough, but I don't need much. Location is so-so for me because I'm solely traveling for food. There is a local morning market nearby (Soi Prachurn Market) that might pique...
