We were two single friends staying 4 nights in flat 6 which is the top apartment with sea view. ||||Galata Homes is great for exploring the Beyoğlu area. Galata Tower is a 2 minute walk round the corner and the buzzing bar and restaurant district just off Istiklal Caddesi is just a 5 minute walk up hill. Even the beautiful Sultanahmet old city with all its stunning tourist attractions is within walking distance. Taxis are also very reasonable. ||||Ultimately we chose Galata Homes based on the fantastic reviews but unfortunately our experience seemed to be different to that of most of the reviewers. Despite booking the room through booking.com and after several email correspondences our apartment was not ready when we arrived. Instead we were put up in an inferior room for the night at Hotel Duo. It was left to us to haggle over the price as initially we were expected to pay the same amount on this cramped room as we were on a spacious apartment with roof terrace and sea views. ||||The apartment was ready for us the next day but not until 2pm which meant this cut into our day significantly and limited us to what we could do. ||||The apartment was spacious, bright and comfortable, accessed via stairs, (it's the top floor) there is no lift. The down side was that there was a strong smell of damp and the walls in the living room were stained (see picture). The floor boards in the corner of the room were rotting and I wouldn't have recommended standing on them for fear of falling through. The kitchen was not well equipt and what was there could have done with a wash. ||||The bedroom was comfortable, tidy and clean as was the bathroom.|||| The terrace was great. It was really big with views over the roof tops of Beyoğlu with Bosporous views at the front and sea views at the back. A great place for evening drinks. There was outdoor furniture which judging by the dirt looked like it hadn't been used in some time and could have been wiped down before we arrived. ||||Similar to other reviews we found the staff incredibly friendly and helpful and eventually we did secure a discount but this was something we had to ask for.|||| If you decide to stay at Galata Homes my advise is to ring them the day before you arrive. Check the room is ready and if you have booked a transfer check this too as ours was not at the airport when we arrived. ||||Istanbul is an amazing ore inspiring city with so much to see and do, day and night. Galata Homes could have...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at Inqlusif Hotel at Galata for four nights on our recent trip to Turkey. What a find! Firstly, the location is great. Galata itself is a quaint and pretty area of Istanbul with narrow cobblestone streets so just strolling around is delightful! The hotel is about a 2-minute walk from Galata Tower and is also walking distance to Galata Bridge and Sultanhamet (if you don’t mind a longer walk). For those who prefer not to walk too far the tram stop is only a 10-minute walk away which takes you to both Sultanhamet and Dolmabahçe Palace. It is also close to the ferries which cross the Bosphorus to Karakoy. Both the metro and Istiklal Street are also very nearby. The hotel staff spoke English and were welcoming and helpful and were able to give us some good recommendations for where to eat during our stay (restaurants are plentiful in Galata!). The hotel has its own coffee shop so good coffee in the morning is easy to find! The hotel is brand new and has great styling (we stayed in the Green Room, which had its own balcony). The two rooftop terraces were the icing on the cake! We will definitely be staying here again when we return to Istanbul and highly recommend it to anyone who values location, cleanliness, comfort and...
Read moreI am writing to formally lodge a complaint about the abhorrent service we experienced at Galataco Istanbul Hotel.
Upon our arrival, my mother and I were shocked to find no proper reception area and the owner came saying the reception guy is not there and he can assist us or, we can get directed to the other branch across the street for assistance, which was both confusing and unprofessional.
The situation worsened when, later that evening, the electricity in our basement room failed. With no phone or proper lighting, my elderly mother and I were left in a dangerously hot and dark environment. We had to leave the hotel in our pajamas to seek help at the other branch. The response from the owner was outrageously unhelpful; he was rude, shouted at me and my mum many times not respecting the elderly and accusing us that we are the ones who are shouting to cover up for the horrible service and behaviour , dismissed our concerns and claiming that the low room rate justified the poor service.
This experience was not only distressing but also completely unacceptable. The owner’s behavior and the lack of basic amenities are a clear violation of any reasonable standard of customer service.
I want to ensure that no other guests have to endure such...
