Had the pleasure of stopping by for a quick coffee and cake break prior to taking a stroll down İstiklal Caddesi towards Taksim Square. Prior to dining here we had openly communicated to the wait staff and the floor manager that my sister has a life threatening allergy to pistachio. While we knew there was a chance they would not be able to ensure that no cross contamination was present, the floor manager and wait staff that greeted us took the time to understand exactly what we were asking of them and ensured us that they would personally go to the kitchen to bring a slice of cheese cake to the table that had been cut with a clean knife from a freshly baked cake, before it had the chance to be placed in the same cabinet as products containing pistachio. The floor manager did exactly. The cheese cakes and the coffees were both exceptional, however in this case the service was even more so. Once we finished up we never got the chance to thank the two that assisted us in our request (as they had likely changed shifts). One was a younger girl and the other a male with a walkie talkie. I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a slice of San Sebastian cake near the Galata Tower.
If you are visiting Istanbul and looking for the ultimate dessert experience, stop searching. Gallant Galata is, quite simply, home to the best San Sebastian cheesecake in the city. While there are many cafes in the shadow of the Galata Tower claiming to have the best, this place is the real deal.
The Star of the Show: The San Sebastian The San Sebastian here is "the one and only" for a reason.
The Texture: It strikes that impossible balance—perfectly burnt and caramelized on the outside, while remaining incredibly creamy, almost molten, on the inside.
The Chocolate: Unlike other spots where the chocolate sauce can be oily or overly sweet, the pour at Gallant is rich and high-quality, complementing the tanginess of the cheese perfectly.
The Atmosphere & Location Situated right in the heart of the historic Galata district, the vibe here is exactly what you want from an Istanbul cafe.
The View: You get a fantastic perspective of the Galata Tower, making it a great spot to rest after climbing the hilly streets of Beyoğlu.
The Service: Unlike the tourist traps nearby, the service here remains warm and welcoming. Even when it’s busy, you don't feel like you're being rushed out the door.
This street is full of a vast array of dessert shops to enjoy the view of the Galata Tower.
With social media and reviews on different platforms, it was a difficult decision but we definitely made the right one.
We went for the dubai chocolate version of the cheesecake and the pistachio tiramisu.
The cheesecake - delicious! A generous amount of pistachio sauce and the crunch with the soft cheesecake flavours was fantastic. My wife would have liked the sauce seperate so she could have a bit of the cheesecake by itself as well - but I enjoyed it
The pistachio tiramisu - loved it - best choice. I did expect some coffee flavours but wasn't offended that it didn't and it was just pure indulgence of creamy pistachios and soft cake. Probably in the top 5 I've had to date.
There were a couple of other desserts that looked great but we shared these two but if we go again, I'll definitely be trying the others that looked great as well.
I can't comment on the other restaurants but I do recommend this place to check out.
