Jurnal Hotel — Hotel in Beyoğlu

This is the first hotel where I have genuinely not felt welcome at any point, and the lack of basic hospitality set a negative tone for our entire stay.

This is a budget hotel with budget customer service, particularly with the evening reception staff, who acted like we were an inconvenience rather than valued guests, and got very rude and aggressive when we asked him to make a note of our card deposit. Perhaps a reminder is needed that his job only exists because of guests?

For the hotel itself, the Wi-Fi was okay, and the shower had good water pressure. The room was very basic, but was to be expected for a budget hotel. It was however very small and had poor lighting, with minimal space to hang clothes. The bathroom had a nasty smell coming from the drains, which we had to cover with soap each night to stop the room from smelling like a sewer. The mini fridge light worked, but the actual fridge element did not.

The included Turkish breakfast was very tasty, however based on other recent reviews, it appears the portion size has since been reduced by about 50%.

The morning staff seemed very nice and if they were at reception for the rest of the day, this review might be quite different. Unfortunately, despite its location, the Jurnal Hotel isn’t worth your money and I cannot recommend it, especially when there are so many other places to stay...

-Air conditioning never works in any room and they never fix it, the heat and the lack of air is unbearable, if you open the small and only window of the room you will not be able to stand the noise of engines, which are also heard loud with the window closed and prevents sleeping, the rooms are extremely small, they do not have closets, it is completely different from the photos they show, the owner came with promises that he never fulfilled, he also did not want to make money back to compensate for the suffering, the cleanliness is nonexistent, dirty sheets and towels, nails on the floor, under the bed I found other people's scumbags and dirt on the floor, blocked bathroom drain, the refrigerator is not a refrigerator because it does not cool down, they did not give me a double bed with a large mattress as I hired but two uncomfortable little beds, if you do not insistently claim or change towels you can have, the bathroom door is a table with top opening in bottom of about 40 centimeters each, without a handle that opens on its own, which does not give privacy, without an extractor fan or window.The employees will find them friendly but they only make promises to solve their inconveniences but then they never solve anything. It should not be enabled to function as a hotel. Don't be fooled by the photos...

Worst experience i have ever been whole staying in this hotel. The young evening receptionist attacked me one of the weekend after I extended my non-refundable hotel payments stay and the management denied that after my call to the police by protecting him from both sides, also they hire guests to threatening and annoying you while you are in your room to make you leave without getting back your remaining non-refundable payments.also this evening young receptionist send some police and gangs friends of him and the hotel management to make me live in fear, I did complaine anytimes but no one took Any action from the management and the police side. Also i discovered that they checked inside my private staff, luggage and they opened the safe box many while I am outside This hotel is not a safe place for tourists. Kindly be aware from these budget hotels because even the police in Istanbul they will never listen, believe and protect you. It is not a safe place to stay...
