Unfortunately, the hotel was a big disappointment for us. Not worth the 3 stars for this price category. The rooms don't match the pretty photos.
Positive:
Good local transport links, good breakfast, some good staff.
Yasin was very attentive and helpful in the breakfast area.
Mert was apparently the most professional and the one who knew his job the most.
The rest were rather disinterested and often gathered in front of the entrance door during a smoking break.
Negative:
The rooms and furniture are very worn, dirty and partly broken.
In the double room there was only one place to sit (a wobbly chair).
The spring mattress was broken and had a hollow in it, so unfortunately it was not possible to sleep comfortably.
I estimate that the furniture, carpets and mattress are at least 20 years old.
The bathroom has apparently been renovated in recent years, but still has many flaws. The sink is not firmly mounted, which was probably the reason why it leaked from the drain on the first day, and therefore formed a puddle under the sink. This was repaired immediately. A lot of water runs from the shower into the toilet area, as there seems to be a missing seal in the lower area.
The air conditioning is centrally controlled. You could only turn it on or off. It was not possible to change other settings, such as temperature or fan speed. When it got too cold for me (at 23 degrees) I called reception and said that I would like it to be 2 degrees warmer (25 degrees). After a while, however, the controller said 19 degrees! When I called again, the lady said that the values were wrong and that the system works "the other way around", so 19 degrees should be warmer than 23 degrees! What nonsense. After a bit of Googling, I was able to find out how to bypass the central configuration and was able to set my 25 degrees myself.
The room cleaning was only done half-heartedly and on some days the shower was skipped altogether. After the room has been cleaned, two men apparently come into the room again to check the minibar. One day our room door wasn't completely closed and was just ajar (the door is a bit stuck). I suspect that the minibar checker didn't close it properly.
All in all, I have to say that I wouldn't book again in this condition. Unfortunately, it was a pretty...
Read moreOk, so let me start by saying I'm not a tourist, I moved to a different province and needed a couple of days in Istanbul to finish some appointments I had both on the European and Asian sides. I was pretty skeptical due to some of the comments. My main concern was cleanness. I knew I wouldn't spend much time in the hotel since I left right after breakfast (7:30+) and returned late, but still. *The room (twin beds) was clean and spacious, and the bathroom as well, all seemed clean. *The breakfast was my favorite. There was a variety of different dishes that suited everyone's needs (in my case, Keto options ). They change it too from day to day. *I didn't have much contact with the staff, but when I did , they were respectful and helpful.
The best part about the hotel is the location. Let me explain why: The hotel is literally no exaggeration 20 seconds from the Yenıcapı metro station. This station is basically the heart of the metro in İstanbul, if you need the European side or Asian side, you got it all in this station. I literally had 3 to 4 different appointments in both Euro and Asian side in the same day, so I had to take Yenıkapı Gebze then back to Halkalı, to Üsküdar then to my university and anywhere in the Asian side . Add to that you can take Hacıosman metro line inside Yenıkapı if you want to go, Taksim, Haliç, şişhane...and so on. So basically, easy access to all of Istanbul, which is exactly what I needed during my stay.
Few suggestions though: I wish the thermostat for the central cooling /heating was accessible and not fixed. It was quite cold at night but if you switch the heating its set on 28 degrees which made the room a sauna, and you can't change it from your room. So I wish you would allow guests to control their room temp. I would recommend water options during breakfast and more coffee options, too.
Anyway, personally, my stay was quick and pleasant. The hotel helped facilitate comfort in my stay, so I...

The reason why am I giving just 1 star is for that what happened us the next day. We told at the check-out, that we would like to have a taxi to the airport. We have taken the yellow taxi to and from the airport in Istanbul twice and it was in both times safe, fast and also affordable way to get there. Not this time! Our hotel didn't order normal taxi for us, but one specific friend taxi driver. The traffic was terrible as we wanted to go to the airport, but the hotel made us sure, that we the taxi will be on time and the traffic jam is just the next two streets and then nothing. We were so stupid, that we believed them everything.
There were taxis coming and coming, but not our taxi (friend of the hotel). He was probably somewhere stuck in the traffic jam. As we tried to take just other taxi, the hotel told us: "Don't do that, this is not a safe taxi! Safe taxi coming. Just 5 minutes".
We waited at least for 30 minutes. The price has been us told is fixed, which was also surprising because normally you pay taximeter price. But the hotel told, NO NO all safe taxis same price 400TRY. Which is like 80TRY more than we have would paid with yellow one.
As the taxi finally arrived, we didn't have other option that go with that, because time was up. The taxi driver (friend of the hotel) knew that as well so told us, that he can go fast, but the price is 450TRY. We wanted to catch our flight, so we just accepted that. We didn't have a choice. It was very stressful unpleasant experience and we feel so scammed.
SO PLEASE MIND THIS HOTEL, ESPECIALLY DON'T LET THEM ORDER A TAXI FOR YOU AND...
