After a lot of research, ended up picking Divan Cave Hotel in Cappadocia. Was traveling with family (young kids) and stayed here for 2 night in late December during the NYE rush, hence paid premium prices for a triple room which otherwise goes for one third the price.

Few things which were a bit of surprise to me:

  1. We booked a triple room which showed pictures of a large bedroom with sofa, a living room and a hammam bathroom. When we checked in, what we got was a regular size room (no living room or hammam bathroom) which was shocking to us. On complaining with Begimai who was the front desk person (and not helpful at all and might I say rude), we were told pictures on their site while booking are of a room category (and not of the exact room you get) and room you get may not be the same as pictures (so please note this while you book your stay and set your expectations accordingly). But upon complaining further and making a big deal since room category pictures cannot show a living room and hammam bathroom and then you end up getting a normal room, we were taken to Abdullah who is the property manager. Abdullah really tried to help us and gave us a better room which at least had a living room (still no hammam bathroom) even though they were sold out as it was NYE. Abdullah apologized and even offered the best room in the property to us as he was really kind and trying to help us which we appreciated (which is why we are giving 3 stars and not 1 star).
  2. This hotel is not wheelchair or stroller friendly or accessible. There are multiple parts of this hotel with separate entrances and each has some steps (no ramp) and of course no elevators as this hotel is built inside a cave. For example their breakfast area is on the first floor (no elevator). Their famous viewing balcony area is on the 2/3rd floor (lots of steps) and no other option to get there.
  3. This is not what I would call a full service hotel as there is no room service. They do deliver milk (for kids) to the room when we requested but it seemed more like an exception request where they tried to help us out than normal. Beyond breakfast there is no food available at the property.
  4. Begaimai (their front desk staff) was very rude when we tried to call for some things from our room. We reported this behavior to Abdullah.
  5. Their wifi was poor during our stay with almost no internet connectivity.
  6. The access to the hotel (as its located uphill on one end of Goreme) is a bit difficult especially if walking from the Goreme main area as its a pretty steep uphill walk. You can of course choose to take a taxi for 115 Turkish Lira which is what we ended up taking.

Breakfast spread was good (you could order eggs dishes other than the buffet they serve), staff was okay, we didn’t had the great experience which other guests did here from the breakfast staff. And yes no Cappuccino (not even paid) but they do provide coffee with milk as an option.

Abdullah was great and helpful, kind and considerate, which is why we are giving our stay an average rating. It wasn’t a great start but we had a comfortable stay, all thanks to Abdullah!

I would not come to this property again (especially with kids), there are many similar type of properties in Cappadocia! We felt this was the best option after our research but this is not really the case based on our experience. I would suggest to pick an...

We spent three beautiful nights at Divan Cave Hotel in Cappadocia, starting with my husband’s birthday and it turned out to be so memorable. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel truly welcome.

The real highlight of our stay was Doa, an absolute gem of this property. She is incredibly sweet, kind, and genuine, always ready to help . She went out of her way to make our experience memorable, and we’re so grateful for her warmth and generosity. Anyone visiting should meet her, she will take good care of her.

We also want to sincerely thank Ahamed at the restaurant, who made our last morning extra special. We had an early flight, and instead of just handing us a takeaway breakfast box, he woke up early and set up a full breakfast table just for the two of us. What truly amazed us was that it was either his day off or he was not suppose to report so early, yet he went out of his way to make sure we had the best breakfast table even on the last morning. His kindness, commitment really stood out and made a lasting impression. Thank you so much for your brilliant service Ahamed.

We booked a Junior Suite, which was spacious and beautifully designed in a cave style. The terrace views were absolutely gorgeous, especially at night, perfect for relaxing after a day full of activities.

The breakfast buffet was impressive, with a good spread and delicious food. While the overall stay was fabulous, a couple of small things to note: housekeeping could be more detailed in certain areas, and the entrance to our room had a slight odor, possibly due to nearby drainage, though it didn’t significantly affect our experience.

In short, Divan Cave Hotel is a warm, romantic, property with excellent service, beautiful interiors, and a prime location. I love their interior. It’s great value for money, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone...

We stayed here for 2 nights and narrowed down on the hotel based on its ranking on travel platforms.

I did a terrible mistake of booking a room with twin beds - should have called them earlier to fix that or requested a change but forgot. So was quite disappointed with the room (it was tiny and cramped) and its largely myself that I have to blame. If you plan to stay here, don’t go for the base category and I would recommend the cave rooms if you have the budget.

While I quoted the only negative first, everything else here was flawless otherwise. They organise private and group transfers. The group transfers are easier on your wallet and worked like a charm. Group tours and baloon tours : we booked both of these from the hotel directly. While I am sure somebody could have managed a better bargain elsewhere, the quality of these experiences were completely unique. The balloons weren’t excessively crowded and eventhough we were just two couples for the mixed tour, the tour went on. Special mention to the guide - he works as a freelancer and seemed to have a tie up with divan cave. Very well informed, well spoken, patient and friendly. Breakfasts - all dished made fresh and served hot in the morning. While the spread is limited, there was nothing on the their buffet that I would not want a second serving of. Service - they mostly had just one person or so at the reception but always managed to surprise me at how quick the responses to request were. The staff were the kindest we met in the entire trip across Turkey. Rooftops - while they did not have a functional restaurant on the rooftop, the bar was open in the evenings. The rooftop offers great view of the baloons in the morning and rock formations through the day.

Highly recommend Divan cave house if you are planning a visit...

Divan Cave House is perfect for a Cappadocia stay. They have unique rooms with local flavor, kind staff, and a great location. We stayed with our four young children and the staff were so accommodating when we needed extra sheets/towels, printer paper for kids to color on, etc. They were eager to help! Our room happened to have an enormous tub that our children also enjoyed (all four fit at once!) plus fluffy towels and individually wrapped bath scrub sponges. At the breakfast buffet we enjoyed veggie omelets for us and an array of fruits and sweet treats that our kids were all too happy to sample. Plus a massive honeycomb we could scoop from to spread on our bread. Our beds were cozy and the darkness of the cave room, plus thick curtains, blocked the light and enabled us all to sleep a little longer. Lovely! The family that owns it has lived in Cappadocia for generations and they know everyone. When I suspected my son’s food poisoning came from a yogurt drink at a certain cafe down in town, where we ate right before checking into the hotel, one of the owner’s daughters expressed concern. She said she knew the lady who runs the cafe and would speak with her about it. I’m grateful for our stay there and for the memories we’ve made. It was our third stay there and we’ll hopefully be back again!
