Disappointing Service Overshadows a Mediocre Meal -
We had made a reservation well in advance. Our email confirmation clearly showed a 19:00 booking. However, upon arrival, the staff insisted our reservation was for 19:30 and asked us to wait, even after we showed them the email confirmation. Rather than acknowledging their mistake, they remained unfriendly and simply pointed to their own handwritten booking log which has written as 19:30. This lack of professionalism and refusal to admit fault set a poor tone for the evening.
Once seated, we ordered the lamb shank, mixed meze, Turkish tea, and rice pudding. Wanting to enjoy the meal together and take a photo of the full spread, we decided to wait until all dishes arrived. However, a waitress came over and asked why we weren’t eating. We explained our reason, but she responded to us with visible impatience, saying there were many customers waiting and we should begin eating immediately. We felt rushed and unwelcome — if the restaurant expects quick turnover, it should clearly communicate a time limit when accepting reservations.
Despite all this, we only stayed for 1 hour and 15 minutes — a perfectly reasonable dining time.
As for the food, it was unfortunately underwhelming. The flavors were average at best, lacking the richness and depth we had hoped for based on the...
Read moreWe travelled throughout Turkey - from Istanbul, Ankara, the Black Sea coast, Antalya, Adana, Gaziantep, Urfa, Van, Kars and more. However, we never encountered a service fee in a restaurant before. Even more, in the menu at the entrance the 10% fee is not mentioned at all. Even so, if they charge the fee, they should also provide a good service and not be so slow and unorganised.
I didn’t want to review it at first since I understand that it is a kind of a touristy place and the usual matter of Turkish hospitality obviously don’t apply, however after reading their reply to the other review from our group, I simply have to point out their entitlement and poor customer service.
Their insulting response doesn’t only show their non-proffessionalism, it is also totally unacceptable to imply that we are too poor eat there. Besides that, there are other restaurants in Göreme which offer complementary meze when ordering a main dish for around 70-120TL, so I don’t understand why they state that their meze is the cheapest 😂.
To conclude: We came for an evening snack after a long hike and left full, but somehow disappointed by the poor and slow service, which amounted to a 3/5 rating. However reading their reply we think they need to reconsider their PR management and take constructive criticism instead of insulting...
Read moreA Cappadocia Gastronomic Experience that equates the Hot Air Balloon!
An intimate cave- dining experience of a short but quality menu list, friendly, extremely efficient staff and mouthwatering dishes (that are reasonably priced).
We had the Dining Mezze, Feta Pastry, Lamb Pastry, Chicken Bake, Lamb Bake and Baclava.
Dining Mezze was extremely good quality and provides a dips with variety of flavour profile that can cater to different palate.
Feta and Lamb Pastry is made fresh daily. The uniqueness of how each pastry is rolled gives a homecook experience.
Lamb and Chicken Bake has flavor explosion. I could not recommend the Lamb enough as it melts in your mouth.
Baclava with Ice cream- need I say more?
It is very easy to go to the touristy restaurants but trust me, this place is worth the wait and short hike. As you book in advance, come a bit early for your booking and just be patient, it is worth it!
Please be nice to the staff as well! People forget that as tourists, we are still guests welcomed to these locals’ home. We were extremely lucky and spoiled as we got in for dinner 2 nights in a row.
Special shoutout to Bilal for his warmth and friendliness and to Feyaz for...
