I can't say enough about this property and staff, if they have availability, BOOK IT!
Location/Room/Property: We flew into Nevsehir Kapadokya Airport which was about 40 mins from the hotel. It was easy to get to and from the airport to the hotel (we arranged transportation with the hotel), however, there were taxis outside of the airport that ranged about $50 USD. They have a private car or shared shuttle service (we did a private car to the hotel and a shared shuttle to the airport). Depending on your group size, the private car was more comfortable but expensive (about $70 one-way, compared to the $10 for the shuttle).
The hotel property is beautiful and so unique. The courtyard is lovely and we lounged by the pool one afternoon, and the rooms are spacious and very very very clean! The hot water was always hot, the AC kept the room cool, the wifi was consistently working, and the bed was comfy (as long as you like firm beds). You can't beat the location of this property, it's still built into a cave, but it's not super high up so you aren't constantly walking up and down very steep hills to get back to the hotel. You are about a 3 min walk from a downtown area that has a lot of restaurants and ATMs.
Staff: Honestly we can't say enough about the staff here. They are some of the kindest people and so so so so helpful. They made our stay here the best part.
Terrace/Breakfast/Food: the terrace (which is located up some steep steps but worth the climb) is very peaceful and a great way to start and end your day. The breakfast is a traditional Turkish breakfast and very delicious. We were able to grab some beers and watch the sunset there as well. They have a cutie black cat that roams the terrace and is so cute :) The owners of the hotel also own two local restaurants so you can order food from the front desk and it is delivered to your room (which was great after a long day of touring and jet leg was kicking in hard :))
Tours/Hot Air Balloon: We also booked a tour and hot air balloon ride through the hotel, which was nice to have everything organized in one place. Unfortunately, the hot air balloon ride was canceled due to weather but the tour was fun and a good way to see the top sites. There are lots of travel agencies through so if you are looking for some hiking, ATVs, etc, you can easily find...
Read moreWe had a wonderful stay at the Tekkaya Cave Hotel in Goreme! We were warmly welcomed. Prior to our stay, they were very responsive in answering my many questions and were always available if we needed something beforehand and during our stay. They helped us with our trip itinerary and made excellent recommendations. We booked a hot air a balloon trip through them (the company they use is very professional and we loved it!).
Our cave room was comfortable and cozy and had all of the amenities we could ask for: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a great hair dryer (normally hotel hair dryers are horrible), a kettle for tea and coffee, water bottles, etc. Also had heat and AC. Our room was very clean!
The included hotel breakfast is 10/10, amazing!! The cafe has a breathtaking view on the outside upper levels, even from the inside the view is nice. They don’t mess around with breakfast in Turkey and neither did the hotel. They have a huge spread of traditional breakfast foods and it was delicious!
Location is just a short walk to a Main Street with many restaurants and shops. We were able to walk to dinner spots but they also have relationships with a few restaurants where you could have food delivered to your room if desired. It was also a 10 minute walk to the sunset/sunrise viewpoint.
We rented a car and they do have free parking for hotel guests. The GPS led us right to the hotel with no issues. Driving in a foreign country is challenging and the roads in Goreme are a little wild but the hotel wasn’t hard to find at all. You park in front of the hotel entrance gate or in a gravel parking across the street.
We were there in the winter so it was cold but they do also have a pool area that was nice. Many cave hotels are like this— made up of many different levels with steep and sometimes narrow stairs. We stayed on the bottom level which has ramps and would be more handicap accessible/child accessible but the upper levels would be a lot more challenging for someone with mobility issues or small children.
Overall we loved our stay at Tekkaya Cave Hotel and recommend it for anyone visiting Goreme. They definitely have one of the best rooftop views I’ve seen and their service...
Read moreI loved this hotel so much - we stayed in the family room which was huge! The room itself was amazing - I loved staying in a cave room so much. The room decor and everything was beautiful and super cute. The staff is extremely nice, they know how to take care of their guests and to be honest, they made our stay in Cappadocia so wholesome! I only had 2 days in Cappadocia and I did not have any tour pre-booked so upon my arrival I spoke to the receptionist who’s name was Ayesha I think (she was absolutely lovely) and told her about my situation and she suggested some tours and we booked the tours through the hotel. The tour was amazing! The tour guide we got was amazing - probably the best tour guide I’ve ever had he was the nicest person ever. His name was Tarek - i would highly recommend requesting his tours when booking through Tekkaya.
Oh and how could I forget the breakfast! During my visit to Turkey I stayed in Istanbul, Cappadocia and Antalya and I have to say the breakfasts I had in Cappadocia were the most memorable and the best! It wasn’t a lavish and extensive buffet like they have in hotel - instead it was all homemade and each and everything tasted AMAZING. We could even see the home kitchen at the back of the buffet and everything was being made in their and served accordingly so everything was fresh and tasted so good. Mind you, I am a picky eater! Also they would change up the menu a bit everyday to keep things interesting - their sweet section was amazing too! On the second day of our stay they had Turkish 3 milk cake and that was to die for - I could not stop eating it!
All in all, this was the stay I’ll remember the most during my visit to Turkey and it made my visit to Cappadocia super special - the people in this hotel are lovely, the service is exceptional - you feel like you’re apart of their family they are so welcoming! The food and breakfast was top-notch and the room itself was super cute yet spacious! Also the location of this hotel is really good and convenient - it’s located in the main town of Göreme so it’s close to everything! No complaints at all -...
