Emirtimes was quite responsive to our contact before arrival so we had a good impression. The reviews were really positive too so we were looking forward to our stay. ||Location was really good, with easy access to the metro & bus stations as well as ferry terminal. It's also a short walk to town & the numerous dining options in the vicinity. ||We got there quite late at night & the facade & lobby looked really nice & well kept. We were shown to our room & the key fob receptacle to trigger the power supply wasn't working. It was loose & the staff took it off & put it back on the wall a few times & it eventually stayed on & the electricity was working. It wasn't a good start & we were surprised he didn't put us in a different room. ||The room was quite different from the impression given by the hotel lobby! It didn't look great & the corridor leadung to it was quite sticky. The soap dispenser at the sink was really hard to get soap out of & the shower cubicle only had shampoo & conditioner dispensers but no shower gel. I suppose they expected us to shower with the soap from the dispenser at the sink? ||There was no shelf in the bathroom to place toothbrushes & there was only one hook for towels. There was a wardrobe in the room but only 3 hangers & no hooks near the door for coats. WiFi signal wasn't great and the phone on the side table was not plugged in as the socket was damaged so if we needed assistance, we would have had to go to reception. There was no remote for the aircon & heating was controlled centrally. There were tea & coffee making facilities & a fridge which was useful. ||The bed was firm & comfortable but the pillow was lumpy. The deluxe double room was meant to have a balcony according to the room description when booking, but there was no such thing! ||After we got back from our breakfast in the morning, the key fob thing predictably didn't work & fell off the wall so we had to go to reception. Thankfully we were offered a room change! We had to wait a couple of hours & instead of the first floor where we had a horrible view looking out to where there was an emergency exit, we were moved to a 4th floor room facing the street the hotel is on. (nb. for those not keen on cats, note there were a number outside the first floor room, some trying to get into the room through the windows. Luckily we hadn't left them open!) ||The new room was much better though there was less storage space. Again, there was no balcony which was mentioned in the room description! ||Although the lack of shower gel was mentioned to staff at room change, and acknowledged, nothing was done about that so we bought our own soap. ||Cleanliness in general wasn't the best; there were hairs on the toilet seat & in the sink. Soundproofing wasn't great as we could hear the person next door snoring at night 🤣🤣 Internet coverage was inconsistent & was interrupted every so often. ||In both rooms the seal at the base of the shower compartment has worn off so water leaked to the other parts of the bathrooms. ||There was only one cup in the new room; coffee & water was not topped up. Slippers were changed daily though there was no need - some were not sewn properly so they were unusable. Towels were changed every other day & bins were not emptied daily. Plastic cups of water rather than bottles were provided (bottles were stated in the room description when booking). It would have been better if there was a water cooler in the reception or in the corridor. ||There was no remote for the air con; there was a limited range for the TV remote so it could only be used close to the TV at an odd angle. ||Breakfast is included in the room price which is a positive. You get tomatoes, cucumbers, sausages, olives, boiled eggs, a few types of cheeses, bread, helva, cake, tea & coffee which wasn't bad. They also have hot food but these were not always available at 7am. While we were there, we tried lamb & mint soup, tomato soup, yoghurt soup, cheese pastries, menemen & sigara böreği which were mostly yummy! 😋😋😋😋 ||The hotel was always warm, so we didn't need the quilt but when we removed the quilt cover to use it as a covering sheet, we noticed the stains on the quilt which was off-putting. ||In general, staff were helpful & helped us to print out our boarding passes & also phoned the airline when there was a delay with the flight. Although they couldn't offer us a late check out as the hotel was full, they stored our bags. ||Overall, Emirtimes didn't quite live up to our expectations but we paid a reasonable price for the stay & the excellent location & decent breakfast made up for it. In spite of the niggles, we would have given it a "good" rating if...
Read moreWe checked in today and from the get go there were issues. We came in and the air in the room was very stale. The windows had been opened prior because as we came in they were still open but that didn't seem to help. But that can happen so we brushed it off. But next we found out there was no toilet paper in the room. Easy enough to remedy that.||||But on the top of that the whole room looked COMPLETELY different than on the pictures. It was very small and crowded so when you wanted to get to one of the beds you had to curve your back like the hunchback of Noterdame so you wouldn't impale yourself on the sharp corners of the TV or better yet get a concussion! For reference I am 162cm tall not sure how a grown man would manage.||||But then the bathroom. Oh well no bathroom stall for us because we got a wet bathroom in a size of a paltry larder. The great thing about it was that we could wash our clothing while taking a shower because they got wet anyway! That would be all nice and dandy if that was advised but the picture told quite a different story.||||Yeah and the door didn't lock from the inside. Very comfortable indeed for two females travelling on their own.||||AND NOW THE CHERRY ON TOP. THERE WERE BED BUGS. However disgruntled we were we payed our money and agreed on staying so we were getting ready to go to bed and as I lie down who do I make eye contact with? Your good neighborhood blood sucking bed bug!||||So we packed our stuff and left trying to get justice but were offered either another surely bed bug infested room or no confirmation at all! The receptionist refused to call booking which works non stop.||||Shout out to the random Turkish guest at the hotel trying to help us because the staff didn't even speak much English though.||||Oh yeah and just a funny side note. How were we supposed to boil our tea? With no cups I guess they assumed you should boil it in your...
