Route Hotel Kaleiçi (+12) — Hotel in Muratpaşa

Very good value for money.

Great: The breakfast is great, every morning there is a nice surprise as well so you never get bored with getting the same things over and over of you stay a bit longer. The rooms are cleaned daily, towels are always fresh. Toiletries are available. The room was modern and clean, with a good bed, TV, minibar, en suite bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower. The courtyard is nice, the fireplace really adds a touch of warmth to the chillier evenings. There is a shop right across the street. Really close to the main streets in the Old Town (Kaleici) and to the old harbour.

Good: The restaurant is OK, though I was a bit underwhelmed by the burger and the small amount of fries. The staff is mostly friendly and nice, but this varies from person to person. The level of English is acceptable. Though the bed and minibar are OK, the storage space is really minimal. The shower is good, though you have to wait five minutes for the hot water. The WiFi is adequate, but not that fast.

Bad: Every evening the whole place smells of campfire, because the chimney of the fireplace lines up perfectly with the windows on the first floor. There is a big sign out front, the light of which shone right into my room. Every morning at 8.30 the music starts, so you'd better be ready to start your day then. During evenings music often plays until late, also from other bars in the neighbourhood (this is everywhere in Kaleici, especially during weekends). The street outside can get quite noisy with drunk tourists, vehicles, the shop across the street opening or closing, bars playing music or dogs barking, and the single pane of glass does nothing to keep out the noise.

All in all I enjoyed my stay, and the hotel does offer great value for money and a great service. Some minor details keep it from...

I was a regular and I was there with a friend that evening. The owner was sitting at a table with 2 friends, both of them rather drunk. At one point, one of the owner's drunk friends came over and grabbed a chair to join us, and almost sat down, but we quickly and politely told him to leave us to ourselves. We were polite and straight forward. He went back to his table, lowered his head, and was laughing hysterically, because he was drunk, and the other drunk friend was also laughing loudly. It was uncomfortable to say the least, but that's alright, they can laugh out loud and count themselves as bold for this sort of behavior. I smiled and waved at the owner to let him know we are not terribly offended and all was well. At the end of our restaurant visit, the owner told me and my friend to never return. He did not tell us this during the visit, but at the end. There was no reason for it. If we had done anything, he would have removed us at once. This was clearly because his bold and drunk friend felt defeated in his sex quest, and the owner is fine with his guests being treated like this. Ladies, be advised that you may be required to entertain an inpromptu date with a drunk guy that you have never met, or you may be banned.

EDIT to respond to owner's response: You infer that if no one else knew about it that it did not happen, but the whole staff and restaurant knew about it because, after you banned us, we pleaded that it is unfair to demand that your women customers entertain your drunk friends or...

My girlfriend and I stayed here from Aug 10th-Aug 24th 2024. We looked at many hotels in Kaleici with swimming pools etc etc. This hotel doesn't have a pool but more than made up for it in the form of a very modern and clean hotel, with extremely friendly staff and Manager Sezgin ATLAS. The resident Golden Retriever (dog) Ranch is absolutely gorgeous too, and always greeted you in the restaurant area, and is extremely friendly......almost famous in his own right, looking at other peoples reviews.|The Route Hotel is situated in Kaleici old town and is perfectly situated for Marina, Restaurants, Shops and only a 15min approx walk to the main town and Bazaar with a tram to Konyaalti Beach etc. ||All of the staff were very friendly and helpful too. We were overwhelmed with a gift from the Manager when we checked out, which was a complete surprise because we all got on so well with everybody who worked there and made our stay very pleasant indeed.||We will certainly be coming back and staying here again in the near future. As the title suggests, it really felt like a home from home and was very clean, modern and secure with wonderful breakfasts every morning served between 8-11am.||Best wishes...
