Kaleiçi Steak Gastro Bar — Local services in Muratpaşa

The food was good. I enjoyed it very much, even for the price it was worth it. However, my partner and I had a bad experience with the service.

We are a younger couple (definitely the youngest guests in the restaurant), and were clearly not the most wealthy customers to be served on this night. I feel that this impacted the poor level of service we received. We sat next to a rude (needy and pompous) fat man and his partner who caused many problems, and the staff did more to make sure he was happy, unfortunately at our expense.

We were sat at a 2-person table, which was okay, however they gave us an additional side table for our food and drinks (which was much needed for our T-bone steak, large salad, beer tower, olives, bread, waters, plus 2 additional personal plates provided for eating). This side table was taken away when the fat man (who was a party of 2, sitting at a 4-person table) complained many times about his food, and was given table service for cooking. I understand this is a service that is offered, however I do not think it is equal to cram our food and drinks onto a 2-person table so that this (presumably wealthier and higher importance) man could have a better experience.

It is unfortunate and unethical, but as I said, the food was good. I will never return.

We reviewed the reviews online but nothing added up. They had 0/ no steaks available and it seemed to just be a shawarma and kebab joint they convinced us they would give us steak etc, and a platter of what they have. The platter consisted of just meat like shawarma and chicken/ lamb cubes. Nothing beef. The gentleman at the front convinced us of a good offer and swindled his way into letting us eat as 2 person but charged us 5.5k in Lira for just kebabs and shawarma. He begged me for 15 minutes to provide tips even though nothing in terms of service was given as an extra. Furthermore he had the cheek to try and charge me 10% extra on top on my bill. Either in euros or GBP or dollars it costed me and my wife more than £100 (not Lira, but GBP/Euro/ dollars. The food was not worth that amount at all and I was falsely advertised please avoid this place at all costs. They had no shame in trying to make (not make me but force) me to tip. Worst place. This might be the worst "steak" restaurant I have ever visited.

Where to start...? They advertise dry aged steak.

They provide mass-market frozen steak instead.

Look at the photos of the steaks in these reviews.

They are identical 90 degree char marks across months. That means the char marks are not from a local grill. They are mass produced in a warehouse.

I had to return the calamari appetizer. Frozen calamari, reheated and microwaved.

Then I had to return the beef I ordered

It was clearly frozen as well. Soggy, fake char marks, full of defrosted water. A disgrace.

Water poured from it when I cut into it.

That does not EVER happen from a fresh grilled steak. EVER.

If you want fresh beef, this is NOT the place.

Amongst the worse "steak" restaurants I have ever visited in my life.

I should have just set fire to my money and eaten the ashes. It would have been more pleasant.

Maybe in the past it was different.

I have no idea why this place has good reviews.

Certainly it is not the result of good food.
