Livea = Erdem!
Livea garden, a little luxury tucked away in the ancient streets of Selcuk, is a 3-5 minutes stroll to the Basilica of Saint John, the museum of archaeology, some of the best restaurants and cafes in town. The property is a 10 minutes drive to the city of Ephesus and the house of Virgin Mary.
The rooms are new and plush, totally refreshing, spotless and extremely welcoming. The staff is very charming, attentive and go out of their way to make you feel overly comfortable. The boys - Karim and Najo (excuse spellings) are adorable and love taking care of guests anytime. The ladies behind the counter ensure the exquisite local breakfast is served well in-time and style.
Breakfasts are an extensive mix of the locally available exotic fruit, an amazing variety of preserves/ jams, a cheese board, fresh breads and choice of eggs. For those who enjoy an authentic Turkish breakfast, they have the extended spread of fresh veggies and olives too. All this best enjoyed in their beautiful garden overlooking the pool.
The chef puts together lovely dinners - best grilled fish, meats and large portions of complementary Meze at the most reasonable prices. Of all the meals we had in this charming old town, the dinner at the hotel was one of the most memorable ones. The bar is well stocked and open all through, we enjoyed sipping them beers under the gazebo during the day. Ali, the owner made a cool cocktail of my choice for our welcome.
Now, for the best part of this stay, the centre and true heart of the property - Erdem, the man of the hour.
Erdem, brother of Ali (owner) manages the property to a T. Literally. He is warm, witty, attentive, has a lovely personality and is a true charmer. He is all about love, charm and smiles. He truly made us feel extra special through our 3 night stay in the hotel.
Erdem, you filled our stay and bellies (thanks to the amazing food) with love and happiness. Thank you for being an amazing host. We sure left with heavy hearts, missing your hospitality and presence during the rest of...
Read moreWe stayed two nights to explore the area including Ephesus. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a very late flight into Izmir and we were able to easily park our rental car on the street and access our room. A/C worked well, which was great given the high temperatures outside. Room had a refrigerator. With three beds, the room was tight but we were barely in our room. Breakfast was served outside next to the pool in a very lovely setting with shade and fabulous service. Traditional Turkish breakfast was served (selection of cheeses, fruit spreads, breads, etc, tea, coffee, juice, eggs were to your style preference). There is no parking lot, parking is on the street. We drove to most locations but I believe you could walk to restaurants nearby, though the hotel has a small cafe/restaurant. Pool closed early, which was our only complaint as we selected this hotel specifically for the pool give the high temperatures and really looked forward to cooling off in the pool after a busy...
Read moreWe stayed at the Livia Garden Hotel for seven nights in late September and very much enjoyed our stay. We arrived in Selcuk by Dolmus from Izmir and managed to get ourselves and luggage to the hotel by foot. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. It met all our needs. The hotel staff were respectful, courteous and helpful. From the hotel we could quite easily walk to restaurants, cafes, bus & taxi station, banks and shops. The Ephesus Archaeological Museum was easy walking distance, as was the Basilica Of Saint John, Ayasuluk Citadel, and remains of The Temple of Artemis. The walled garden & pool areas were welcoming and remain very well lit overnight. The hotel could improve by urging guests who sit in the outdoor dining space and garden at night to be quiet enough so as to not disturb guests who are sleeping. I would recommend the Livia Garden Hotel to anyone wanting to...
