After multiple accusations that the host wrote in the Expedia review of the situations that happened during our stay at Nazar Hotel, I had to write in Google review for further clarification. First of all, I was not there in the check-in process as he described as “he welcomed my sister.” He assumed that my sister does not speak English. However, my sister is a US citizen living in the US so it obviously showed the host predetermined Asians as non English speakers. I wanted to park the car as there were some valuables inside of the car. The host did not let us park our car and kept saying he wouldn’t be responsible for any damages to the car so he has to park our car. He became sarcastic when I made the wrong turn and kept saying he has to park our car. When we asked if there were any complimentary water as we arrived late at night, the temperature was at 100 F all day, and we were all tired. The first question he asked was where we are from and that only Koreans and Chinese people would ask for free water. He also said that all of the Turkish hotels don’t provide free water at all and that we are asking too much. We have been traveling the country for a week and each hotel we stayed provided at least 2 complimentary water bottles. His response was that since Nazar Hotel is not a 5 star hotel, do not expect too much from the place. The host also wanted to provide some information about the city as he is a licensed tourist all over the country. I was very tired traveling from another city into Selcuk so I told the host that my sister has all the information and we don’t really need anything. The host was not happy with this answer. After that conversation, he stated “So then, you don’t need a wifi password?” I stated “Yes I need a wifi password.” The host sarcastically stated “You just said you know everything and you don’t need anything.” When we came inside the room, the room was boiling hot. The host stated we can turn on AC but only at one temperature and we cannot lower the temperature at all. The host assumes the first review on Expedia was deleted but it was accidentally deleted by trying to report host’s false response. Lastly, the slippers provided at the room were completely used and repackaged. The slippers looked reused with brown spots all over and ripped out. They were very dirty. We do appreciate the host’s brief information on Ephesus and Hose of Virgin Mary. It does not matter whether 90 or even 100% of reviews are good. A bad experience with one stay is a bad experience. Please try not to fight back to the customer. Instead, please reflect on your behavior and think how you can improve as a host for a better experience for...
Read moreA gem in the backstreets of Selcuk! We spotted this (almost) family-run hotel offering all we needed and even more for our road trip in Turkey.|The best part is, however, what I called the experience with the host and his staff, which makes you forgive few imperfections of the accommodation. He is a professional tour guide willing to take time to explain what and how at best enjoy both tourists attractions around and places to go for shopping or to have a meal. Very warmly and nicely welcomed by him and his group of cats and dogs, which he takes care regularly. We wish all our trips were so charming and friendly like this, where you can tell, it is much more than the minimal to have you accommodated and justify the price. ||The rooms might not look brand new, but they have enough space and are very clean. Flexibility in timing for a early checkin or a late checkout was never an issue.|PARKING: quite narrow streets around the hotel with no fee to pay, but it also offers a private open air parking space (still for free). However you need to have someone around to get the gate opened every time.|WIFI/VPN: works|QUIET: very much|LOCATION: walking distance to any other spots in Selcuk. For the Ephesus ruins you still have to drive five minutes. They have a nice pool, so you don't even need to look any further to chill after a long visiting walking day.||CONS: no elevator and no mini fridge in the room. But water and other refreshments are provided refrigerated in the lobby for very little money. Also our room had only one side bed table and a single power outlet in the middle of the bed frame. But I won't call it a big...
Read moreWe stayed here for 5 nights at the end of September / beginning of October and very much enjoyed it. Everything is just right here ! Its excellent value for money, the location is great, the owner Ilker is very friendly and helpful and speaks amazing englisch. His wife (who we didnt met) and his mother in law (who we met, and she is so lovely) are french, so french speaking people like my mother will be very happy. ||The garden with the pool is fantastic. We enjoyed swimming in the pool, reading, playing games, stroking the cute cats etc. in the garden a lot. Quality time in between visiting or discovering things. ||The breakfast served on the roof top terrace with views over Selcuk and the fortress is tasty and includes cake and home made jams.||The rooms are clean and simple, but with everything you need. Really good shower and a comfy bed. We enjoyed staying in rooms with a balcony.||This is not a luxury hotel (but its not luxury hotel prices either ;-)), but its a really great place, and I could not imagine a better place to stay in, when spending time in and around Selcuk. ||P.S. on a personal note: My mother and myself love animals, and so we enjoyed seeing that cats and dogs (like Romeo) are well...
