Abacus Oriental Restaurant — Restaurant in Bolton

Went here tonight, the staff where polite and the place is clean but food arrived in a matter of 5 mins so to me obviously not cooked fresh I’d ordered sczewan beef I was shocked when I saw it, I’m sorry but to me it looked like it was out of a tin, had a weird film on the top and was so sweet nothing like I’ve had anywhere else the rest of the food was ok but the ribs where very dry and chewy. The staff did ask what was wrong with my beef and I explained quietly what was wrong she proceeded to remove it from the table. We left quite abit of the food incl ribs staff weren’t really concerned that we where clearly unhappy with some of the food they did remove everything from the table promptly perhaps so no one else noticed we had left food ! I’ve definitely eaten better and fresher elsewhere the food seemed warmed up if it have been half the price I wouldn’t have complained as you usually get what you pay for! The bill eventually came but it was not itemised however it looked like they may have taken off the price of the Szechwan beef which was appreciated but to be fair they had removed it from the table without actually asking though the lady did ask if I wanted another I politely refused and she told me that the dish of Szechuan is very sweet !!! I won’t go here again not because it’s bad but because there’s just nicer places to eat and spend money Not the worst experience by any way...

Myself and my husband visited here today for the first time. We love eating out in Chinese restaurants and thought we would try here for a change. When we arrived there was very little people dining in. (Which wasn’t an issue just not a great atmosphere) they had more than enough staff which seemed more than happy to serve you and always looking to wait on customers. We ordered a selection of different dishes which came out within less than 5 minutes. The food was less than average, only just warm and the BBQ ribs were on a plate swimming in oil. After trying a selection of dishes I started to feel unwell. My husband didn’t enjoy the food and said it was tasteless. The staff commented on the food which was left and asked if it was ok. We said it wasn’t very good, however a woman joked and said ‘did you order too much’. When we got the bill it was just under £90 no money knocked off. We did comment about it being very pricey but we aren’t rude people and definitely don’t leave somewhere without paying. On another note we did hear the just eat recipes coming through to the restaurant so what we ordered sitting in to taking out is nearly half the price. Although the staff was lovely to begin with lack of customer care was demonstrated. We are really disappointed and won’t be recommending this place...

i am a bialteral BK amputee, it is my birthday today 20 January 2014, my friend and i decided that we would celebrate by going to this resturant as i had heard good reviews from my sister in law. This resturant blatantly flaunts their ignorance of The Disability Discrimination Act 1999 where Service Providers have had to make 'reasonable adjustments' for disabled people. It is important that service providers who have not already done so take reasonable steps to make their services accessible. 1st October 2004 it was additionally stated that service providers make reasonable adjustments to PHYSICAL FEATURES. the only way to access this resturant is via a steep three tiered flight of stairs. certainly no access for wheelchair bound users and certainly the steep staircase would have been difficult for the elderly and those with breathing difdficulties. We are now living in 2014 surely the owners of the resturant would benefit from the income it would undoubtibly receive if it was more accessible for all kinds of people wanting to eat. And surely the rent the owners of middlebrook receive would covser the installation of a lift. ! or maybe they wish to carry on flouting...
