We had the most PHENOMENAL stay at No. 21. Simon and Andrea were incredible hosts and their property was beautiful. Our room was cozy and all other room amenities were perfect. The small touches like the mini fridge with sparkling and still water, as well as fresh cream for coffee made us feel at home. Honestly our favorite part of the day was getting to come back to our room, make a cup of tea and munch on one of the homemade cookies from the cookie jar as we wound down for the night. The breakfast was... amazing. A true and proper English breakfast. Simon is an incredible cook. It wasn't just one of the best breakfast's we had during our two week trip through England and Scotland, but it was one of the best breakfasts I've EVER had! If you're there during/around the Easter holiday you might even be lucky enough for Simon to have made hot cross buns!
The location was also perfect. Close enough to the train station to walk with suitcases, close enough to town to hop into the action, but also secluded enough to feel peaceful and relaxing when you needed some down time.
We've already insisted to a few friends who are also planning holidays to England that they MUST visit York and that they MUST book a night or two with Simon and Andrea. If we ever happen to make it back to York someday, No. 21 would be the only place I would...
Read moreA stones throw away from the station, no 21 York was a delightful stay for my wife and I when we visited York over a long weekend. Simon and Andrea were amazing hosts, who couldn't do enough for us. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The shower was also very nice and the products provided smelt great. You complete a form in your room the evening before to order your breakfast, we were pleasantly surprised at the number of options and even more surprised at how good the breakfast Simon made was. Simon went out of his way to cater for our dietary requirements and likes. When I asked for Worcestershire sauce the first morning, Simon said they didn't have, however, the next morning when I sat down and my breakfast was served, a brand new bottle of Worcestershire sauce was put on the table. It's small gestures like that which will make you remember your stay forever. Overall Simon and Andrea were very friendly, chatty and accommodating....
Read moreWhat a gem of a find No.21 York was. Our experience was more than excellent. The correspondence with Simon and Andrea before our stay was really useful and although we arrived later than we thought Simon was there to greet us. Our room was lovely and had everything you could need, the homemade biscuits were delicious and it was a lovely touch to have real milk in the fridge. I had not realized quite how close to the Hospitium we were - so handy. Simon also showed us the route to get there and recommended places to eat too. Breakfast was scrummy and again included homemade and local produce - it was stunning. Simon went above and beyond as well to bring us an extra key - thank you so much for that. I really cannot recommend No.21 enough - for value, location, comfort, friendliness, amazing breakfast and so much more. A big thank you to Simon and Andrea and I now need to find another reason to visit York so that we can stay...
