Most unethical company I have ever dealt with. Purchased bottles in a June 2020 auction with shipping prices clearly stated on the company's website. They later tried to exorbitantly upcharge me supposedly for Covid related shipping fees. This was simply a lie as the timing did not make sense. Note that flights (excuse for trying to gouge me) from the UK to the US were ceased in March of 2020 (3 months before my auction), yet this company continued to hold auctions without updating their website to reflect the true cost of shipping. Folks like myself would not have participated. They chose to immorally withhold the information to preserve their auction prices instead of acting as any honest company would.
Eilidh and Craig from customer service have been extremely rude and unhelpful whenever I have been able to get a hold of them about finding a solution. They would not even let me relist the bottles free of charge to make up for their deceitful bait and switch on shipping costs. Craig refuses to speak with me or communicate at all. Beware of the toxic culture pervasive at the company. He has done everything he can to avoid me, even having co-workers lie about him being on a long weekend vacation.
They later told me that the loss and breakage coverage I had paid handsomely for entitled me to store the bottles until a certain date. Before that date came, they then tried to automatically charge me for additional storage fees after claiming to have made a mistake regarding the various dates. They admit to a lot of mistakes, but I believe they are intentionally trying to extract additional fees from honest customers - there is simply no other explanation for this many mistakes.
They have now tried to charge me once again for a Loss and Breakage expense that I already paid.
At one point they sent me an email about how my Loss and Breakage coverage would be expiring in the future - except they sent it many days after it supposedly had expired, but not before another employee had told me it would expire. A total mess. And no one will take responsibility for all of the mistakes - instead, they make excuses and act evasively.
I believe they have either lost, stolen, or resold my bottles and they are no longer even available for me to collect. My bottles are worth much more now than when I bought them and I have a feeling they are sitting on Craig's shelf at home - perhaps he already drank them on his "long...
Read moreIâve been a loyal customer of Scotch Whisky Auctions for about 5 years. On Saturday 14th June, I tried to add all of my won bottles to a shipping request, but couldnât include 3 of them because a longâterm storage invoice had been appliedâafter I missed the 28âday free storage deadline by just one day. So I sent them an e-mail on June 16th, Monday asking cancellation of the invoice. Their shipping page clearly says: âif you would like these bottles to now be made available for shipping, ⊠alternatively please contact us and we can cancel this invoice for you.â This wording gives customers a clear, actionable right to request cancellation of the invoice. Yet when I did exactly that, a representative called Josh refused to cancel. Their excuse? Theyâve cancelled my invoices in the past but "can't anymore for fairness to other customers."
Why this is unfair: They promised on their own site that contacting them would allow cancellationâbut are now reneging on it. Canceling storage invoices on request is a common practice across UK whisky auction houses, including SWA. Previously canceled invoices created a legitimate expectation, not a one-off favour. Now refusing only my requestâespecially when delivered via their official interfaceâis inconsistent and discriminatory. *As I was expecting to be respected as a loyal customer the wording used against me was a clearly...
Read moreFound two lots of the Springbank 10 yr for Ukraine charity at the newest auction, other auctioneers would refuse these bottles being auctioned or use the hammer prices to raise more funds for charity, like whiskyauctioneer did. It's disgrace for SWA not only allow the flippers' bottles in and ignored that many people's will to say the bottles will be auctioned like normal, it's disgusting to earn the blood money and shame on you. Everyone sees this review should spread the word and let more people to know how ugly flippers and bad auctioneer can be, your bid only make filppers and this auctioneer richer and greedier, but not helping the Ukraine people at all. Just think about it, it's only normal 10 years old with different inks on the bottles, Springbank acted for good cause and did all the hard work but only raised 11000 pounds for the people in need, will any decent people allow flippers to bag over 1000 pounds blood money? Please at least use your social media to let more people know and against these wrongly...
