What has happened…. I reviewed this restaurant 5 years ago and without a doubt it was my favourite Indian restaurant in the city and since then we have visited often and were always satisfied with the service and the food was constantly excellent until tonight! What has happened? New owners, new chef or something else! On arrival we were greeted and shown to our reserved table and drinks order taken which arrived promptly The order for the meal was taken we always order the same dish on our visits Noted that the size of the sharing platter has shrunk over the years 2 small chicken pakora, 1 x small vegetable pakora, 1 onion ring and a samosa each (we opted for no chicken chaat) The main arrived chicken tikka chasni The dish arrived and I was about to say I don’t think that is our dish the server confirmed the dish was chicken tikka chasni, the dish looks nothing like the past dishes we have had and worse than that it was almost tasteless! The nann bread was crispy in sections The meal was ok and only ok and fell well short of the meal we travelled in to the city for! The new POS system for card payments gives you a choice of tip eg 10% 20% then customise in this instance I would not have tipped as the food fell short of expectations but I was not for customising the service charge at the table side under supervision of the server Through out the meal there was constant moving of furniture upstairs and obviously do not realise how noisy this was down stairs lifting the tables and chairs rather than dragging them would have been a simple fix Unfortunately will not be rushing back The restaurant is spacious with good disabled access via the doors at the side of the rotating door, dining is available on this level and on the upper level Gents and female toilets are on the upper floor Location of disabled toilets unknown No parking for this restaurant though street parking is available a short distance away and SEC multi-storey is a short walk form this location The staff still maintain covid perception and we’re using masks and good cleaning of tables between guests was witnessed The restaurant site is well suited to a pre gig meal if you are attending the hydro or SEC Note: this is an update to my past review 5years ago is which I said this was a 5star restaurant and...

Read moreEdit: based on the owner’s response. you cannot expect someone to think you don’t serve traditional Indian Food when you name your restaurant “India” Quay serving an indian food menu The dal, paneer, curry was more than 75% still in the serving bowl. The only items that were “polished” was the naan, chicken pieces and papad. -Did you not ask the servers who came to pick up the plates why they asked us if we are really done? And did we not enjoy the curry upon seeing the bowl full? Say what you will, there were no peppers/mushrooms in the sizzler No one asked us if the food was good 5 mins in The server did mention what was sweet when we were ordering, but nothing was said in response to the paneer shaslik. The server in fact recommended the tandoori curry sauce for the spice, but that too was sweet.
Wish I’d clicked pictures to show what you term as Indian food. Pathetic response. Inability to take constructive feedback shows who you are. Agree to disagree. Not even going to address your point about why we paid in full without haggling for a “bad food” discount.
Original review: Pulao rice was just coloured rice, no flavour. Spicy onion chutney was sweet. Paneer shaslik was anything but grilled - coated in a sticky sweet marinade. Chicken sizzler did not have any peppers or mushrooms. Just loaded with onions. And to top it off dal makhni was just plain black dal. No tarka or makhani flavour. Did not enjoy at all. And not worth the prices.
Not recommended for someone looking for authentic...
