We arrived here and the concept is really good. Converted prison. Reception is not 24 hr. We found our room (not easily). We weren't in the room long - but there was a constant clink of doors. The wooden floors don't hide this. The same wooden floors give it a cold feel - though the draught from the window also didn't help. The bedroom was 'snug'. Felt like basic student accommodation. The shower wasn't easy to work and with the fixed head, it was difficult to let it get warm. I would say that the best part of this hotel is the Atrium, which has been converted into a common area. It is really beautiful. It felt really secure too - there are two locked doors to get into the hotel. It is in a really good place for a visit to Liverpool. However, for £108 per night - I can’t see the total value for money. Plus there is a £50 deposit. The mattress on the bed was amazing. However, I was the shortest one of four of us and the other three struggled with the length with nowhere to put their feet. The other downside was the person who thought it was a good idea to play and sing along to acoustic guitar music at 4 am. This did not please! We are going to Liverpool again in the Summer and most definitely will not be...
Read moreIf you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to sleep in a former prison without sacrificing comfort or style, Caro Short Stay Main Bridewell offers just that—a quirky, character-rich experience in the heart of Liverpool’s business district.
Atmosphere & Design Housed in a Grade II listed building that once served as Bridewell Prison, the hotel cleverly retains its historical bones while layering in modern convenience. Think exposed brick, cell-like rooms with curved walls, and a central atrium that feels more boutique than bleak. It’s a bold blend of heritage and hospitality, and it works.
Rooms Compact but functional. Each room comes with an en-suite shower, flat-screen TV, tea/coffee facilities, and a hairdryer. The prison layout means no windows in some rooms, which might feel snug to some, but the clever lighting and clean design help offset the lack of natural light. It’s minimalist, but not soulless.
Service & Amenities Staff are friendly and helpful, with a laid-back professionalism that suits the vibe. Maid service is provided every other day, and while breakfast isn’t served on-site, there are plenty of cafés within a minute’s walk. Free Wi-Fi, a fitness centre, and baggage storage round out...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE FOR STUDENT ACCOMMODATION!!!!! While I got lucky and got the slightly bigger room with a nice bathroom, the sink was blocked upon arrival and has not been fixed 4 months later. The staff are basically non existent and they blatantly ignore emails or take days even weeks to respond at times. They did absolutely nothing to protect us against covid-19 despite me messaging them to say people in our flat had covid (they didnt even respond to my email) and people continued to party during the pandemic and staff did nothing to help. Bins and trash lying everywhere for weeks at a time and staff again do nothing despite having "notices" threatening to intervene if kitchens are messy - they have never intervened once. Gym was not open once and we still had to pay the full £5k despite having to go home for lockdown and only being there 2 months and none of the facilities we paid...
