This felt like a bait & switch. From the moment we entered I regretted the booking. Great location and price after that it was artificially handled- probably AI generated. Difficult to get into what felt like a hostel. I communicated concerns immediately only to get pleasant responses (AI). The smell from the sewage felt awful & while it was cool outside it felt stinky, and hot inside. Attached is my communication. Please look further for a place to stay and don't be fooled by the pictures and price. Yoga mats are provided but what a joke... there isn't a place to open your luggage let alone do yoga.

We're at the Bob W hyde park room B105 and there's a strange odor in our room. Magdolna • 2h ago I'll connect you with someone who can help with this right away. Meanwhile, could you please share any other details about the issue to help them assist you better? Bob W • AI Agent • 2h ago Profile image for Bob Bob joined the conversation Hi there! Thanks for reaching out 🙏 Oh no, I'm sorry to hear! Can you please explain a bit more of that so I can ask our team to have a look? Thanksss Bob • 2h ago It has a chemical smell. We left for breakfast and came back it still smells. It started around 7am Magdolna • 2h ago Like fuel Magdolna • 2h ago Thanks for the notice! I'll ask our team to check this 🙏🙏 Can they pass by before 5pm to see? Bob • 2h ago We're checking out today Magdolna • 2h ago Ohhh good notice! Then we'll have a look after your check-out so you can get ready 🧡 Bob • 2h ago I have to say, I'm not likely to give a good review. The beds were comfortable but everything here is super cramped and the awful smell is coming from the toilet. The motion light going down the stairs activates after the hardest part of the stairs where it's tricky to step (curve with different widths). Thought I'd share before I share with others. Magdolna • 1h ago Oh please, we really appreciate the honest comments on each stay! And, I know taking the time to share with us directly is not something happens often, so thank you for it! I'll make sure our local team is aware of it 🙏 Bob • 1h ago I loved the self check in etc but definitely do not love not having anyone here to physically respond to concerns. If I were staying anywhere else I probably would have had a room switch. Fortunately I'm known for my positive reviews and because I research places extensively I am rarely disappointed. Magdolna • 1h ago Oh, I understand! 🙏 Our online team is always here and if possible we can also do room changes, this is so difficult to manage when we are fully booked when the need comes and I'm sorry we couldn't make the change possible this time 🙏 Bob • 1h ago

Read moreWe arrived 9am June 18th to store luggage, as we had paid extra for an early 12pm checkin. Housekeeping was on site, and explained they have some storage locations available offsite, but I didn't get specifics. They offered to store our luggage for us until the room was ready. Unlike the BobW we had previously stayed in Helsinki, the BobW Hyde Park location doesn't have self-service storage onsite.
When we arrived back just before noon, housekeeping had already taken our three luggage to our 4th floor room (5th floor US). It's important to note that there is no lift. Having just arrived after a nine hour flight, that service was very much appreciated.
We had upgraded to the "Comfy" room, which was more spaceous with a good size desk that would provide enough space to work. As with our previous Bob W experience the room was clean.
When we walked into the building, the first thing I noticed was the hallway temperature. It was warm and I was thinking that's ok, as I'm not sleeping in the hallway. Little did I know...
The outside temperature on June 18th when we arrived at our room was 23.8C/75F. The high temperature on June 18th would hit 28C/82.4F. Unfortunately, the inside temperature was well above that. Our room was on the top floor with westerly facing windows. The sun had already begun hitting that side of the building. The windows were already set to the max opening of about 4 inches and wasn't wide enough to get much airflow to cool off the room. The two provided fans were not designed to pull external air, and were only circulating the air within the room. I did manage to lodge a fan against the window that helped slightly, but my wife was already showing signs of heat exhaustion.
Bob W uses WhatsApp to communicate, and I contacted them about the heat and needing to switch to a cooler room. They said they were fully booked and would inform the team and let us know the next day. We couldn't wait for just the possibility of an option and booked another hotel for the next two days of our stay. I informed BoB W management that first night we would be checking out in the morning.
The following morning, as we were waiting for our Uber, a Bob W guest we had met during our initial check-in was outside. They were on the floor below us, in an easterly facing room. They were only able to get about four hours of sleep due to the heat. Since they were only there one more night, they were opting to stick it out.
It would be valuable for Bob W management to experience a stay in their rooms when the temperature is going to be higher than 24C/75F. Maybe then they would truly understand and resolve the issue.
Had we been refunded the two remaining nights, I would have been satisfied. But we had to pay for an additional hotel with air conditioning just to recuperate from that one night stay.
I do not recommend staying at Bob W Hyde Park if the temperature is going to be over 70F outside, as the temperature inside will be a great deal warmer and likely to...
Read moreThis is my first review of a hotel. I have spent over 100 nights in hotels so far in 2024/2025, and this was by far the worst. The concept is good in theory, but you cannot remotely deal with things like being locked out (as was the case with TWO of the guests I ran into during my 15-hour stay); boiling hot room with NO kind of airflow, a window that will only open 6" and a broken small, inadequate "air pusher"; being trapped in the entry corridor because there is no signal or WiFi available to actuall access your door codes and toggles; and most disruptively, noise that was so loud, thumping, stomping, heavy thuds, it sounded as though peole were moving furniture and this went on until after 1 am then started up again at 7 am. I slept for less than 5 hours under these circumstances. You can get through via the chat on the "app," but they will just offer apologies--because an app cannot physically help.||So many things were bad, or went wrong, with so many of us there yesterday, that it would be funny--but I boarded a 12-hour flight on very little sleep that had real consequences. Whoever is on the human end of the app was responsive and apologetic, but when I asked for them to consider a partial refund, I got a "nope". To me, this was legally negligent — I had one of the worst nights I have ever had traveling in their hotel, directly due to their issues and inadequacies. I will never* stay in a Bob W again and feel compelled to warn people about how this sort of stay can go here. ||It looks cute, the location is great, but the full self-service features ONLY WORK if their technology works and their hotel is adequately appointed, which this is not--certainly not my room (203). And it was not inexpensive. You are far better off booking somewhere with at least one living person to help out with these things, and there are hundreds of places close by that also have good airflow or air conditioning...
