The Sportsman Casino — Attraction in London

I actually liked this place until they started telling lies.

I had a membership at one of their other casinos, Empire, which I used to enter this casino, I showed them my ID and all was fine. I entered the casino and played there many times, very rarely won and lost about £20,000 overall in a three month period. No problem, I never got angry, never abused anyone and was always courteous.

One day I was entering with a friend who was also a member and was told I couldn’t come in. Apparently I had three memberships! Two previously at this venue and the one from Empire... the trouble is, I had never been to this casino before using my Empire membership! I didn’t even know where it was!

I wrote to them and challanged them to produce evidence of these make believe memberships! I had only ever had one membership at Empire as well, by the way. So after a week of no response by email, I called and was told the manager would review the situation. I pointed out in my email that every membership at every casino would require photographs to be taken of the customer upon joining so they would have to have photos of me when I allegedly joined on these two previous occasions. This manager who was supposed to call me back didn’t, so I called back again and was told he had reviewed it and I was still not allowed in and I had one other previous membership.

A couple of weeks later I was emailed by someone claiming to be the manager who said he would refer my case to head office. I’m still awaiting a response but clearly this is no way to conduct business.

If I had one or two or even fifty previous memberships and wasn’t allowed in, I should have been refused entry the first time or maybe the second time but not the umpteenth time having lost so much money!

Since I have been so poorly dealt with, I feel 1 star is 1 too many for this establishment. I’m happy to give it a re-review when they stop with the lies and resolve the matter fairly.

Update 08/02/2019: Despite the response below, no further contact whatsoever has been made. I will be taking my case to the Gambling Commission and, if necessary, court.

Update 20/02/2019: My case is being reviewed by someone from head office now, has been a few days...

Update 23/03/2019 A very obnoxious man by the name of Viv Ross has written back to me claiming that I had previous memberships at other casinos in 2007, that I had been nationally banned then and that this information all came to light at the end of 2017 when the casinos merged information!!! So basically it took 10 years for them to get told something which there is no information about, it’s all a big London Clubs secret and it just happened to all go on The Sportsman casino’s systems over 10 years later! Hilarious. If anyone wants to read the utter nonsense this man has written to me, please reply to this post!

After I posted the below review I had contact from a gentle called Craig who has totally restored my faith. I have yet to go back in there but the response I had and the offer of an apology was what was needed to change my mind. I have changed my star rating to 4 but will hopefully increase this to 5 when I go back. The overall place was very nice so feel maybe my experience was a one off. And we all get off days. Please visit this place and create your own opinions.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but our experience here was so uncomfortable I feel it needs to be said. A group of us visited this casino recently and were initially allowed in — we bought drinks and spent money at the bar with no issue. However, not long after, one of the staff — a woman working on the door — approached us and was extremely rude and judgmental to one of the women in our group.

She commented that her clothing was “not suitable” and made her feel completely singled out and humiliated. It was not only unnecessary, but also incredibly unprofessional. We were stared at and made to feel unwelcome and vulnerable, as though we were being judged rather than treated like customers.

It’s unacceptable to allow guests to enter, spend money, and then belittle them based on personal appearance or arbitrary dress codes. We left feeling upset and embarrassed — not how anyone should feel at a venue like this. Definitely won’t be returning, and I’d advise others to think twice if they expect to be...

Me, my wife & another one girl we 3 people visit at oxford street and At 1:00 clock outside wether is too bad.. & my wife’s situation is not well.. she have already kidny issues..& she need to use toilet.. we ask for using a toilet.. but the security guy didn’t understand our situation.. even i told him we don’t want to use only toilet.. we are spending some money and time as well.. but he call his manager and his name may be MIHAL OR Something.. i explain the whole situation again.. but still he didn’t understand & he don’t allow to come inside.. That’s the Worst Experience of my life.. They don’t have humanity to understand a girls problems… I hope the owner see my review and give me a reply..And...
