On arrival, the restaurant was relatively empty and dimly lit, but there was a pleasant atmosphere with dark wood panelled walls, strategically placed mirrors, classy mood lighting and low non-descript music. The restaurant was air conditioned which was a welcome from the crazy 30 degree heat outside in the city. I overheard the staff telling new diners who hadn't booked or made reservations that they only had an hour before the reservations arrived, which I felt made me want to rush and certainly made those people feel the same.
I was met and welcomed by my Waiter - Agnelo who was a very pleasant and attentive young man with a charming welcoming smile and a good understanding of the concept of the menu and all that it had to offer.
Steak & Lobster pride itself on the simplicity of its menu, indeed their tag line "this or that" makes it very clear. It's steak or lobster! A 10oz rib eye steak or a 1lb fresh lobster with unlimited fries and side salad for £20. What could be simpler!? There's also the option to upgrade your steak to a 16oz for £35 or to a 2lb lobster for £40.
We quickly got down to business with drinks, there is a comprehensive cocktails menu, all made fresh at the bar. I witnessed the bar man whip up 5 tall mojitos which instantly made me regret my decision to go for the wine. There was a good selection of wine to suit any palate, I plumped for the mid range Pinot noir (2013/14) to accompany my appetite for steak. It came in a well sized glass which I personally love, giving it plenty of space to breathe and slosh about. It was a good vintage and had a good taste with no after burn or bitterness.
To start, I ordered the Prawn and lobster cakes which came with a lime and coriander salsa - there was a really good mix of prawn and lobster in the 3 cakes which were cooked to perfection in a crisp breadcrumb coat, and the salsa worked extremely well with the dish to compliment the flavour.
For main, I went with the 10oz rib eye steak with unlimited fries and side salad. It has to be said, that the steak was probably one of the nicest steaks that I have tasted. The flavoursome meat was a credit to the cow that it came from and to the chef who cooked it perfectly to the medium rare That I had requested, it was evident that the meat was extremely good quality. The other thing that struck me about the meal was that every detail was so well thought through to compliment each bite. Right down to the perfectly dressed side salad with croutons, Italian hard cheese and sunflower seeds to the garlic and herb infused butter knob that arrived on top of my steak which really released the meats flavour and potential. It simply made every bite an absolute pleasure.
Having heartily enjoyed every bite of the starter and main course, it seemed remiss of me to not try a dessert. Again, keeping it simple there were 3 choices on the menu, and as a sucker for cheesecake that's what I went for. And wow, I was absolutely delighted that I did.
Simply advertised as a Chocolate cheesecake in the menu, I feel did it an absolute dis-service for how well put together that it was. There was an instant explosion of great quality milk chocolate combined with an amazingly light creamy mousse which kept the texture nice and light after the meal but still allowed you to wholeheartedly enjoy every mouth full of the dessert which was accompanied by chantilly cream.
The whole meal was over in 45 minutes, a taste sensation of simplicity in design but left me absolutely in awe of how well it was all pulled together to leave my taste buds tingling.
The only thing that let the experience down was the feeling of being rushed out to make way for more diners, but apart from that the meal was phenomenal and the service was great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, as long as you...
Read moreI am a new customer who came to visit the Steak and Lobster back in December at the Marble Arch, Unfortunately I have to say the service was absolutely dreadful!! Not to mention emailed the manager and no response about this.
I had booked the Steak and Lobster for myself and 2 colleagues for dinner for 9pm on Friday 21st of December. Although we arrived at Marble Arch 9.10pm due to the Christmas traffic. We made sure to call Steak and Lobster Marble Arch soon as possible. My friend spoke to staff over the phone she told the corespondent on the phone that we would be late by just a few minutes. The correspondent said it’s fine that we should still come.
We arrived at the restaurant at 9.15pm approximately in the lobby of the hotel. As we changed shoe wear and go to the main desk. Anna the supervisor who wasn’t friendly at all, says our booking had been cancelled and we have to wait about roughly 20 minutes for tables to be clear for people to finish eating. As management it’s important you are as enthusiastic as possible, not grumpy, moody or too assertive.
Bare in mind we called the restaurant and proved to Anna that we called showed her the number we called. Which she agreed was the correct number. But Anna still denied any of her staff or herself spoke to any of us. She claimed it was somebody else and not the restaurant (doesn’t make sense).
We patiently waited anyway. While waiting she just cancelled our booking at 9.18pm while we was sitting waiting I received a cancellation email. Which was sneaky considering we was actually at the venue and called before hand to say we was round the corner before it was cancelled. After cancelling she came back and said people are still eating and it’s unlikely there would be space for us.
On Opentable it clearly states on your booking “Your table will be held for 15 minutes after your reservation time if you arrive late your seating time will still begin for original time booked” from this understanding we would have had a table for atleast a hour 30 minutes. Anna the supervisor didn’t mention this, neither did she try to be a helpful member of staff and we all didn’t quite like her condescending tone and attitude towards us as new customers.
She came back to then say she would see what she would try to do. And came back to say we would wait a further hour and couldn’t have enough time to eat our food as the restaurant would be closing.
Now, I understand as a restaurant it’s your duty to make things work the best way you can. But unfortunately Anna didn’t she wasn’t helpful or cooperative just told us to book another Steak and Lobster in your other branches that were due to close soon anyway at the time so that didn’t make any sense.
Figuring out our next option at the time, a large group came into Steak and Lobster and an array of customers standing outside the restaurant with not much help from staff either as they complained aswell about the service. They also had a booked arrangement and had nowhere to sit until later on that evening. Seemed like a day of just unfortunate events. However the group were seen to and we wasn’t. How convenient to say the least? Quite disrespectful and discriminative if you ask me.
It’s important as a business you speak to your staff on how to be as helpful and cooperative as possible. And because of this level of service I would not recommend this...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at Steak and Lobster Marble Arch was a delightful celebration of flavors and ambiance. Located in the heart of Marble Arch, this restaurant offers a tantalizing menu featuring steak, lobster, and other delectable dishes.
To start, I opted for the T-bone steak, and I must say, it was cooked to perfection. Juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor, it was a true delight for the taste buds. Accompanying the steak were the Surf and Turf Spring Rolls, which, while enjoyable, could have been more flavorful to match the excellence of the steak.
The croquettes were another highlight, offering a crispy exterior and a creamy, flavorful interior that left me craving more. For my side, I chose the fries, which were perfectly crispy and seasoned, complementing the steak beautifully.
One dish that truly stole the show was the Lobster Fettuccine. It was simply kickass, with succulent lobster meat tossed in a rich, creamy sauce and served atop perfectly cooked fettuccine pasta. Each bite was a symphony of flavors that left me longing for another plate.
While the Surf and Turf Steak had a bit of dry lobster and didn’t quite meet my expectations, the overall dining experience was still enjoyable. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting, with a cozy yet elegant atmosphere that set the stage for a memorable evening.
As an added touch, the staff went above and beyond to make my birthday celebration extra special. They surprised me with a birthday platter, which was a thoughtful gesture that made the occasion even more memorable.
Overall, my experience at Steak and Lobster Marble Arch was a delightful one. From the delicious steak and lobster dishes to the attentive service and inviting ambiance, it’s a restaurant that I would recommend to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Marble Arch. I look forward to returning in the future to indulge in more of their...
