Nice ambiance, good selection of ales and super friendly staff. Love the historical connection as pub has been on that spot since 1550 and has been mentioned in Dickens's Pickwick Papers. Especial recommendation for landlord's dog who kept us company. A bit of a Tardis as there are 2 more levels below the ground floor.

Decent City centre pub. Good selection of ales, which tends to rotate. Wide selection of spirits too. Bar is atmospheric considering its really a modern building, and the outdoor area makes the most of where it is. On the pricey side, but it is reasonable for the location.

Where has all the great history gone from all the walls? Now it just has a wall of mugs! And a picture of a flower.

The day of the Christmas party, I had called to find something out and the bar manager had told me one of the food we ordered had been swapped out as you guys did not have this which was fine but it would have been nice if we were updated before and given options on what we could have instead. My colleague had asked to see the breakdown receipt and the only reason this was not questioned on the day was because I was not there at that time and was told about this after Christmas. The bar staff were drinking alcohol behind the bar. They did attend to our needs when we asked. When we saw the receipt there was tip that was deducted from our drinks tab, when i asked the question I got 2 reason 1) this was a normal service charge and 2) the normally stop the bar tap from going over this was not told to me when i first got in contact with the sales manager. We had paid £300 for the food and we expected the quality to be better, but it wasn't, going back to the tip when i spoke to the lady she did not apologies and she mentioned how they were disappointed as they did so much for us, yes... but we paid to be at the venue and we are disappointed as well! I sent my feedback to the sales manager and no response back which i thought was very rude and not really good...

Walking to the local area I was overwhelmed by the history and that is just what the bar used to it's advantage by proudly showing the fact that the area was used for public executions giving the true nostalgic London feel. The bar has a great buzz in the later hours on a Friday Night truly giving off a great atmosphere. They sell some of the best types of British foods such as pies, fish & chips and toad in the hole which is quite delightful.

A bonus is that it is quite close to St Paul's cathedral.

In conclusion this bar offers a true London experience with great staff. Shout out to Sarah who was hot on her heels working really hard to try and serve customers as fast...

Great pub near St Paul's. Friendly service and wide selection of beers. Nice intimate vibe until late evening, when there's often a DJ or music and it becomes more busy. Food (pizzas) is prompt, reasonably priced and tasty. On the whole, feels a lot less corporate / chain-like than most pubs in the area. You can also book a private or public area for a reasonable price, which makes it a good venue for after-work drinks...
