I really have no idea where to start!
Having stayed in the area before and found it to be a great location for sight seeing we found this on booking.com and it stated it was family friendly - it certainly was not!
When we checked in the lady on reception was not overly friendly. Explained out room was not ready and we were asked to come back in 20mins. This was not a problem we took our children a short walk and came back 20.mins later. We were then told it would be another 5 mins. Again not a problem. There was no apology though which I felt was rude.
Once the room was ready we were given our key and pointed to a staircase case down to the basement. We had to navigate our way over rubbish and dirty laundry with 2 suitcases and our children, not the best start to our city break.
When we finally unlocked the door to our room we were underwhelmed to say the least. There was damp on the walls, the room was far too small for a family of 4. The bathroom was tiny and there was a broken soap dish on the wall which my husband subsequently hit his head on whilst having a wash - causing it to bleed.
The shower screen did not fully close and the sink was to small so you could not fill the kettle provided. The wardrobe was too small to be any benefit to a family and there was no where for suitcases.
We were not pleased but said it was only a place to sleep as we had a busy few days planned.
Unfortunately our first night was awful. The area was what I would call 'shady' not a place for children. There was noise all night long...slamming doors, guests coming and going. People walking around...even outside our door. Our room was on the street side so we could hear all the comings and goings on the street. To top it off the double bed we shared had a broken headboard and the bed was really hard and uncomfortable.
The second night was even worse. My husband went to complain about noise twice (midnight and 2.30am). The male member of staff was friendly but did not speak with the guests that seemed to be having a party right above our room. Our children were scared and none of us managed much sleep. Husband complained again in the morning but again the staff didn't have much to say.
Our 3rd night was slightly more peaceful and the noise subsided around midnight until 6am so we managed to get some sleep.
We checked out this morning much to all of our relief. My children are now weary of staying in another hotel.
This is not family friendly. The area is not the best and the hotel is full of noisy people and staff that are not willing to help.
The only problem is the price...but now I realise why its so cheap.
Avoid at all costs if you...
Read moredo NOT book this hotel! my friend and I arrived around 2:30 pm to check in (check in time was 1pm), and our room was not ready. The room itself was very cramped (which we can work with) but we get in, there were used towels in the bathroom, and dirty sheets still on the bed with garbage laying around. We told the gentleman at the front desk (who was nice enough) that we want to get settled in first instead of leaving our luggage in the room while it was being cleaned. He moved us to another room, which was "cleaned" - if your definition of cleaned is finding hairs in the bed sheets and a pubic hair on the counter. And most importantly, the wifi wouldn't work on both my friend and mine's laptops and cellphones, which are in perfect condition and had no problem hooking up to wifi just an hour or so before. We ended up checking out that same day, despite the fact that it was a non refundable booking. There was no way we were going to get a good night's sleep or enjoy our trip while staying there. Our hostel is soooo much cleaner, and more spacious. Don't make the same mistake as I...
Read moreKing’s Cross inn more like King’s Cross hostel. We didn’t even stay was too dangerous for us to stay. To start the door would not open from outside, the hall and room smelt of stale cigarette smoke. The bathroom was…. Awful ! The light fitting was hanging off the ceiling with wires showing, the ceiling in the bathroom was hanging down. The air con didn’t work when on it vibrated the room and was so loud that it was useless. The delightful view out the locked window was of scattered rubbish and piles of rubbish. The pillows stained with goodness knows. The topping on this delightful hell hole was the pube found in my daughter bed (she didn’t touch the bed). ||The man on reception offered another room… with added eau de damp, stale cigarette smell and general unpleasantness. ||Please save your money book elsewhere!! Most hostels I’ve seen are safer, cleaner with a...
