Let me tell you my experience with Aspen Suites on Tudor Road. I checked in on December 18, 2020. As it is when ever I check into any hotel, I ask for a room off the ground floor, the gal put me on the first floor. I asked if she did not understand my request for anything above the ground floor? I was there a total of 5 nights, the trash was not removed from the room on any given day, the towels were never refreshed. I did not trash the room, but by the last day, I could smell the trash that had built up under the sink, I was using the cleanest dirtiest towels I could find. I would have to go to the front desk to get a packet of coffee each day, I was reluctant to do that, because every time I walked out of the room, the keys would be deactivated and I couldn't get back in, The room was paid 5 nights in advance. The internet did not work, but yet when I would ask, they would say it was "GCI fault", but it was because they had no clue as to what they were doing, The passcode for internet access is "anchorage907" it has been that for the last 7 years I stayed in that hotel, but it doesn't work. They had washer and dryers, but wouldn't sell you quarters to do your laundry, when I asked the answer was "We don't do stuff like that" I asked at the front desk for them to call me a cab, I waited for an hour but a cab never showed, when I inquired whether they called or not, the gal says, "They are busy", I called a cab from the room, it was out front in less than 10 minutes, I mentioned that to the driver, he says that hotel has a bad reputation, they are not in the business for helping people. In the past, there were several times the cops showed up, running down the halls, slamming guys onto the floor and cuffing them, I've seen that happen more than once, but it's been clean, quiet and used to be very helpful towards the customer. It is no longer. What you get is: a room, the bed is never made each day, the maids don't even show up to freshen the room, the trash is not removed, you don't get fresh towels, your key is deactivated once you walk out of the room, even if it is to go look for coffee. If you want good customer service, the Aspen Suites is not the place to stay. I do not recommend the place, as an Alaskan Resident I paid $95.20 a night to stay in that room, that was just to lay on a bed with a thin sheet and a pillow. The front desk...
Read moreMy problems started with WiFi. There was a serious issue with WiFi and it was not connecting to any devices (note that I have an electrical engineering degree and have worked on this stuff before). When I reported this issue with the reception staff, a young lady, the response was "this is what we have in Anchorage". Oh, I paid $461 for two days for the wrong room description! Furthermore, I was there for two days, and they neither did anything to repair it nor contacted me on this. I was on a business trip and had to work at night, and this completely ruined my comfort.
On top of the above experience, on my last day, unfortunately, I decided to use their washing machine, and it turned out to be a horrendous experience. There was an automatic detergent dispenser. I put the coins, nothing came out. After contacting the receptionist and waiting for 25 minutes, I was given a detergent packet. Then I loaded my clothes into the washing machine, poured the detergent and inserted the coins. OMG! It didn't work (I have used such coin-machines before and realized something is wrong with the machine). All my clothes were soaked in the detergent in the washing machine, and it was around 12:15 am, and I had a flight at 6:00 am. The reception was closed by that time, and there was a security person. He was from a third-party company and was not aware of anything and didn't have access to their storerooms. I didn't dare to try another washing machine (more than that no more coins left). That night was horrible for me. I had to hand-wash my cloths and dry it with cloth iron. I couldn't sleep and my business appointment in the morning didn't go well.
Yes, I admit that I didn't plan it well. But they could have at least put a name board and checked all the machines promptly. More than that they neither have the courtesy to contact me later (the security personal wrote down all my details) nor to return the money I inserted into the machine.
Suppose something worse happens at night (like a serious plumbing/electrical issue) and your reception does not work at night (12:00 am - 6:00 am, I guess), who will the customer contact?
In short, you will get a good room, but never expect a service for the price...
Read moreHorrible experience! Reservations made 2 months prior. Go to check in at 1530 (check in is at 1500) room isn’t ready and they have no idea when it will be. Literally, no idea when it will be ready. We wait 30 mins, still no idea. Manager comes out and starts arguing with me when all I want is to know when the room will be ready. All the while they’re giving people who’ve come in after us rooms. So, we leave to go find food with no idea when our room will be ready. Call at 1730 to make sure it’s ready and let them know we’ll be another bit but not to give my room away—she says “it’s been ready”. We go there at 1915 and they give us a room. We unload our bags, find our room, only to open the door and there’s already people in there!! We go to the desk, and they’re not even sure if they have a room for us now… positives are that the front desk lady was very kind and wildly embarrassed, all the while apologizing profusely. We get a refund (hopefully, will have to watch the card…) and go to leave. The friendly front desk lady comes out to the car as we’re getting ready to leave and asks for my number so she can talk with her manager about compensation. I know mistakes happen, but after traveling all day we wasted almost 4 hours waiting for a room that we would never get. Then the hassle of finding a new room… It just would have been nice to know so we could have laid our heads down sooner before departing for the airport at 0430 the next day… and thank goodness the occupants of “our room” weren’t in there and I pray that never happens to me when I’m in...
