A Comfortable Stay at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown during my visit to Anchorage, Alaska, and overall, I had a positive experience. The hotel offers spacious rooms, a convenient location, and although the breakfast was of average quality, I would still recommend it to fellow travelers. One of the standout features of this hotel is undoubtedly the size of the rooms. Upon entering, I was greeted by a well-appointed and thoughtfully designed space that provided ample room for relaxation and movement. The furnishings were modern and comfortable, creating a cozy atmosphere for a restful stay. The cleanliness and attention to detail in the room were also commendable, ensuring a pleasant and hygienic environment. The hotel's location was another aspect that contributed to my enjoyable stay. Situated in Midtown, it offered a convenient base for exploring Anchorage. While not in the immediate downtown area, the hotel was still within a reasonable walking distance, taking approximately 50 minutes to reach the heart of the city. For those looking for a more leisurely option, public transportation and rideshare services were readily available, making it easy to navigate the area. Regarding the breakfast, I found it to be of average quality. While it may not have offered an extensive selection or gourmet options, the morning spread provided a decent variety of items to choose from, ensuring a satisfactory start to the day. The staff overseeing the breakfast area were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. One notable aspect of the hotel that added to my positive experience was the friendly and helpful staff. From the moment I arrived, the staff members went above and beyond to ensure my needs were met. Their professionalism and willingness to assist with any inquiries or requests greatly contributed to the overall satisfaction of my stay. In conclusion, the Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown is a hotel I would recommend to fellow travelers. With its spacious rooms, convenient location, and accommodating staff, it offers a comfortable and enjoyable experience. While the breakfast may not have been exceptional, the overall quality of the stay and the favorable location more than made up for it. Whether you're visiting Anchorage for business or pleasure, this hotel provides a reliable and pleasant option for your stay.

DIRTY SHEET!!! STRANGERS OPENING OUR ROOM!!! We had two stays with the hotel (the only reason we still stayed here for the second time was because hotels were all sold out in Anchorage). In the first stay, after we took a shower, we figured that the bedding sheet was not changed from last guest because there was still fresh pizza red sauce with food on the bedding sheet. After I report this to the General Manager, all he said was sorry. He promised to he would check the cleanness of our room in person to make sure our second stay to be comfortable, but he did not do it. He also offered nothing and did not follow up with me. How do I know he did not do what he said he would do? When we checked in for the second stay, the two rooms we booked were still separate and room were not assigned/confirmed yet, which is not too surprising because people always say things that they would never do. What happened next in our second stay really shocked me. Within 30 mins after we checked in for our second stay, two strangers opened our room by using the keys they just got from the front desk. I called the front desk, all I got was just sorry on the phone. We were told that those two people's keys have been disabled but guess what soon we figured that our keys were disabled. We called the front desk again and was told we had to go downstairs to redo the key, it was midnight, and the front desk had no apology. I am a loyal Hyatt Explorist Member and always choose Hyatt over brand if possible. I am super upset and disappointed this time by this hotel. I don't think this hotel is hyatt standard. They apparently have a lot of management issues. Worst hotel experience ever!!!

There was a slight hiccup with early check in request as our flight arrives at 2am. After a couple hours wait front desk finally allowed us to check in so we could finally put our heavy heads to rest. The rest of the stay was smooth sailing. Shuttle service was great, only used the service for pick us up at airport which was about 5-10 min drive. What was odd to me was the vast number of parking spots available. Water pressure was ok, could be better. Mattress was good, we slept well. The walls are definitely better insulated here as we could not hear the neighbors. Breakfast was the usual and always appreciated. The best part is the view of the mountains, can never get bored of them! Also there was a bunch of ducks just walking around the premises and minding their own business. There's a Starbucks and a few restaurants within walking distance from hotel. Getting to downtown was easy with a car.

Dear Hyatt Team,

I am writing to report a deeply unsatisfactory experience during my recent stay at your hotel, Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown, specifically concerning my interaction with the staff member Annette Samalaulu. I believe it is imperative to provide a detailed account of the issues I encountered, as they have left me profoundly disappointed and resulted in both wasted time and a disappointing meal.

Room Cleaning Oversight at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown: Upon checking in at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown, I had requested daily room cleaning services, a standard service that I expected to be upheld during my stay in room number 339. However, to my great dismay, my room was not cleaned at all, despite my daily requests.

Impact on My Experience at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown: I had planned to enjoy a meal from one of the top-rated pizza establishments in the United States within the comfort of my room. However, my plans were disrupted as I realized my room was in a state of disarray due to the cleaning issue. This resulted in a disappointing and cold pizza.

Front Desk Staff Attitude at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown: Upon encountering a problem with room cleaning, I approached the front desk for assistance. The staff member, Annette Samalaulu, not only failed to offer a sincere apology for the issue but also displayed dismissive and unhelpful behavior throughout our interaction.

Delay in Service at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown: On the evening of my stay, I noticed that the room had not been cleaned at 8:30 PM. Concerned about the cleanliness of my room, I waited until 10:30 PM for the requested towels until I went downstairs and g=finally got my towels. To my dismay, Annette Samalaulu had already gone off duty, leaving me without a resolution. Her coworker, who took the shift after her, confirmed that my English was clear and easily understood.

Lack of Trust and Racism Concerns at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown: What deeply troubled me was Annette's unwarranted challenge regarding the "Do Not Disturb" tag. Despite my assurance that I had not used it, she questioned my honesty. Her mistrustful behavior, in combination with other factors, raises concerns of racial bias, leaving me feeling discriminated against during my stay at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown.

Additionally, I would like to inform you that a similar issue occurred during my stay at Hyatt Place Fairbanks on December 31st, where my room was not cleaned as requested. Although I experienced a similar inconvenience at this location, the focus of my complaint primarily concerns the conduct of Annette Samalaulu at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown.

I firmly believe that these issues should not be part of the Hyatt experience, and it is essential to address the concerns raised during my stay at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown, especially in regard to the behavior of your staff member, Annette Samalaulu.

ll lead to improvements in guest satisfaction and the overall quality of service at your...

Pros of this place: ||In the middle of Anchorage. Easy drive to everything|Things seem orderly and clean in most common areas.|Free parking|Some of the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and seem to enjoy the hospitality industry.||Cons of this place:|NEVER was informed of a housekeeping schedule. Spent 5 nights here and had to request housekeeping FIVE TIMES - IN ONE DAY and it still NEVER CAME. ||My husband and I both feel that it may not be housekeeping’s fault but communication between the front desk and housekeeping. ||Three days into our stay, I requested housekeeping at 9:30 in the morning; the front desk attendant wrote my request on a scrap piece of paper. I requested housekeeping again at 4 pm, a third time at 6 pm (this after calling and being assured housekeeping was still on site). My husband visited the front desk at 7:15 and was told as soon as a second employee arrives, supplies would be delivered to us. Finally fed up and wanting to wind-down for bed, I walked down at 8:15 pm - determined to get my own supplies!||The night guy at the front desk said he couldn’t leave his post for supplies - - until I pointed to a sign reflecting that the desk isn’t always occupied. I told him I would cover the desk for him so I could receive some much needed kleenix, towels, toilet paper and coffee.|| I also wanted the bed changed and the room to be cleaned but I knew that wasn’t going to happen. Matter of fact, the night guy at the front desk offered fresh sheets so I could make my own bed. I don’t think they offer that in hospitality training! Five nights and only ONCE housekeeping came.||Breakfast hours changed twice on us. First time - no notice. The second day - a note in front of the coffee pot apologizing for the inconvenience! Who looks at the coffee area before you need coffee? ||I book a hotel on what I can save money on - breakfast included in the price of the hotel is something I can save money on. Twice - we had to go out for breakfast……sigh||In my opinion, I felt as if a few of the front desk people didn’t appreciate being bothered to look up from their phones or computers to help with our housekeeping needs or to answer basic questions. ||Only two women at the desk (within the five-day stay) were pleasant and could answer any of our questions about destinations and things to do. Again I question the training and communication in the hospitality industry.||Breakfast had a variety. Nothing out of the ordinary for the standard hotel breakfast. Cleanliness needs to be a priority while breakfast is being offered. Half the time - the parents were letting their kids make messes and leaving them for the clean up crew - the other half of the time it was the kitchen’s fault for not restocking food, coffee, beverages and dumping the trash before it is overflowing everywhere!!||The property has promise - but training, communication and interest in their careers needs to...

Lobby/Common Area Clean and clear mostly throughout my stay.  There were a few times that a bottle or can was sitting on a table for a few hours.

Outside perimeter and parking area is clean and well kept.

Staff Front Desk Staff is personable and friendly.  Always saying "good morning" or "good afternoon" when they see you.  Really helpful in answering questions.

Housekeeping Staff is not friendly... no greetings at all.

Food Staff is friendly and willing to assist with recommendations; clean up constantly and made sure all stations are stocked.

Shuttle Driver: I am not sure of his name, but he is Hawaiian; really friendly and helpful.

Room 324 Bed lamp closest to the window was unplugged, so USB ports did not work.  Had to re-plug in power.

All visible surfaces have been dusted, however the tops of the wardrobe, TV, picture frame, mirror and AC intake have not been dusted. Coffee maker missing the tray where you put the coffee in.

The curtain chains are not set up correctly.  The chain does not allow the blackout nor the privacy shade to retract fully.

Food Breakfast #1 Scrambled eggs, hash browns, thin bacon and pancakes... they have oat milk as a milk substitute. Breakfast #2 Scrambled eggs, potatoes, thin crispy bacon and belgian waffles. Breakfast #3 Scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage links and pancakes Breakfast staple: oatmeal; boiled eggs; cut fruit; assorted breads and toast

The Placery: This is a bar/cafe where you can order food.  I had the Fried Chicken ($16.95) you get 4 pieces of crispy fried chicken; a large amount of fries and a tiny container of coleslaw.... it was slightly less than a shot glass worth of coleslaw.  The bartender (Mariah) took my order and she was wonderful and personable.  She recommended the fried chicken and it was delicious.  There was light batter, but it had sweet notes to it... Thumbs Up for this.

Gym/Pool 2 Gender Neutral Bathrooms next to the Fitness Center and Pool have showers. Really Nice and clean pool and hot tub.  Plenty of towels available.

The Fitness Center is right next to the pool.  Really clean with ample space between machines.  There is water on demand from a dispenser.

Guest Laundry Located on the 4th floor to the right of the elevators.  2 washer /2 dryers and 1 commercial dryer.  The washer and normal dryer costs $2 each.  Machines only accept quarters.  Front desk has change available.

Ice makers Located on the 2nd and 4th floors in the elevator lobby.

Guest Elevators 2 available.  The doors in both elevators take about 7 seconds to begin closing.  You will need to press the door close button to speed this up. The hand sanitizer on the ground floor was out of batteries...
