Dear Hyatt Team,
I am writing to report a deeply unsatisfactory experience during my recent stay at your hotel, Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown, specifically concerning my interaction with the staff member Annette Samalaulu. I believe it is imperative to provide a detailed account of the issues I encountered, as they have left me profoundly disappointed and resulted in both wasted time and a disappointing meal.
Room Cleaning Oversight at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown: Upon checking in at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown, I had requested daily room cleaning services, a standard service that I expected to be upheld during my stay in room number 339. However, to my great dismay, my room was not cleaned at all, despite my daily requests.
Impact on My Experience at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown: I had planned to enjoy a meal from one of the top-rated pizza establishments in the United States within the comfort of my room. However, my plans were disrupted as I realized my room was in a state of disarray due to the cleaning issue. This resulted in a disappointing and cold pizza.
Front Desk Staff Attitude at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown: Upon encountering a problem with room cleaning, I approached the front desk for assistance. The staff member, Annette Samalaulu, not only failed to offer a sincere apology for the issue but also displayed dismissive and unhelpful behavior throughout our interaction.
Delay in Service at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown: On the evening of my stay, I noticed that the room had not been cleaned at 8:30 PM. Concerned about the cleanliness of my room, I waited until 10:30 PM for the requested towels until I went downstairs and g=finally got my towels. To my dismay, Annette Samalaulu had already gone off duty, leaving me without a resolution. Her coworker, who took the shift after her, confirmed that my English was clear and easily understood.
Lack of Trust and Racism Concerns at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown: What deeply troubled me was Annette's unwarranted challenge regarding the "Do Not Disturb" tag. Despite my assurance that I had not used it, she questioned my honesty. Her mistrustful behavior, in combination with other factors, raises concerns of racial bias, leaving me feeling discriminated against during my stay at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown.
Additionally, I would like to inform you that a similar issue occurred during my stay at Hyatt Place Fairbanks on December 31st, where my room was not cleaned as requested. Although I experienced a similar inconvenience at this location, the focus of my complaint primarily concerns the conduct of Annette Samalaulu at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown.
I firmly believe that these issues should not be part of the Hyatt experience, and it is essential to address the concerns raised during my stay at Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown, especially in regard to the behavior of your staff member, Annette Samalaulu.
ll lead to improvements in guest satisfaction and the overall quality of service at your...

Easy drive to everything|Things seem orderly and clean in most common areas.|Free parking|Some of the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and seem to enjoy the hospitality industry.||Cons of this place:|NEVER was informed of a housekeeping schedule. Spent 5 nights here and had to request housekeeping FIVE TIMES - IN ONE DAY and it still NEVER CAME. ||My husband and I both feel that it may not be housekeeping’s fault but communication between the front desk and housekeeping. ||Three days into our stay, I requested housekeeping at 9:30 in the morning; the front desk attendant wrote my request on a scrap piece of paper. I requested housekeeping again at 4 pm, a third time at 6 pm (this after calling and being assured housekeeping was still on site). My husband visited the front desk at 7:15 and was told as soon as a second employee arrives, supplies would be delivered to us. Finally fed up and wanting to wind-down for bed, I walked down at 8:15 pm - determined to get my own supplies!||The night guy at the front desk said he couldn’t leave his post for supplies - - until I pointed to a sign reflecting that the desk isn’t always occupied. I told him I would cover the desk for him so I could receive some much needed kleenix, towels, toilet paper and coffee.|| I also wanted the bed changed and the room to be cleaned but I knew that wasn’t going to happen. Matter of fact, the night guy at the front desk offered fresh sheets so I could make my own bed. I don’t think they offer that in hospitality training! Five nights and only ONCE housekeeping came.||Breakfast hours changed twice on us. First time - no notice. The second day - a note in front of the coffee pot apologizing for the inconvenience! Who looks at the coffee area before you need coffee? ||I book a hotel on what I can save money on - breakfast included in the price of the hotel is something I can save money on. Twice - we had to go out for breakfast……sigh||In my opinion, I felt as if a few of the front desk people didn’t appreciate being bothered to look up from their phones or computers to help with our housekeeping needs or to answer basic questions. ||Only two women at the desk (within the five-day stay) were pleasant and could answer any of our questions about destinations and things to do. Again I question the training and communication in the hospitality industry.||Breakfast had a variety. Nothing out of the ordinary for the standard hotel breakfast. Cleanliness needs to be a priority while breakfast is being offered. Half the time - the parents were letting their kids make messes and leaving them for the clean up crew - the other half of the time it was the kitchen’s fault for not restocking food, coffee, beverages and dumping the trash before it is overflowing everywhere!!||The property has promise - but training, communication and interest in their careers needs to...

Food Breakfast #1 Scrambled eggs, hash browns, thin bacon and pancakes... they have oat milk as a milk substitute. Breakfast #2 Scrambled eggs, potatoes, thin crispy bacon and belgian waffles. Breakfast #3 Scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage links and pancakes Breakfast staple: oatmeal; boiled eggs; cut fruit; assorted breads and toast
The Placery: This is a bar/cafe where you can order food. I had the Fried Chicken ($16.95) you get 4 pieces of crispy fried chicken; a large amount of fries and a tiny container of coleslaw.... it was slightly less than a shot glass worth of coleslaw. The bartender (Mariah) took my order and she was wonderful and personable. She recommended the fried chicken and it was delicious. There was light batter, but it had sweet notes to it... Thumbs Up for this.
