The location of the hotel is great. Very easy to get onto Seward Highway from here. It’s right next to the mall and grocery store so you can walk around and shop. We stayed in a two bedroom unit on the second floor so that we could have space and the kitchen. We were not expecting luxury accommodations, but the furniture in the living space was ugly, outdated, and grungy. There was nothing really comfortable to sit on. The table and chairs were huge and heavy and took up half the living room. The air conditioner seemed very dank and musty and loud. It didn’t work very well to cool down the room on the two extra warm days we had. I also had a headache the entire time I stayed in the room and it felt to me like it was some kind of a mildew situation.||We left for almost 2 days during our 6 day visit, and asked for a room refresh while we were gone, we arrived back to the hotel to find that there was no room refresh. When we asked about it, they told us we weren’t on the schedule. The next day we had a room refresh which included that they made the beds - but no clean sheets. They gave us new towels. I had to go to the desk and ask them for another roll of toilet paper and to replace the conditioner which was empty in the shower dispenser. ||They did take out the garbage. Speaking of garbage because of the every three days room refresh, people turn to put the trash out into the hall and it sits there for days and days on end. This is not an experience that makes you feel like you’re walking into a clean situation. ||They have a coin laundry, which is clean and worked well. The pool was nice. The spa jets don’t work. There is a patio with a Barbeque off the pool. We went outside to check out the barbeque I got locked out and had to walk around the building to go in the front door in a wet bathing suit. Also, the barbeque was broken. There were no signs telling us we would be locked out if we went out there. I had my key card with me, but the scanner was broken. ||The breakfast is what you would expect any place, so that was handy. The staff was really polite and friendly, but didn’t go out of their way to offer any hospitality. We did get a call from the manager who assured us that the paint crew would not be painting in front of our room in the evening we returned from a long day trip only to find them pulling up to the building and unloading at 5 PM to start doing maintenance on the building. ||All in all an adequate place to stay, my overarching feeling leaving is that I spent a lot of money and that I am happy to be returning my own home, which is far more clean and...
Read moreI had a four night stay at this hotel (Room 412) and it started off well. The front desk associate that checked me in was very friendly and helpful – five stars for her. The problems came with the lack of cleanliness of several areas of the hotel and damage to my personal property by housekeeping. When I first waked into my room it appeared clean, but there was a very strong food odor. Not a big deal, maybe a few sprays of air fresher would be helpful though. I ended up buying a $1 air freshener from the store for my store. Second, the bathroom sink had food stains in it and there was dried up make-up on the sink. Slightly annoyed but I just cleaned the area myself and went about my stay. I also visited the fitness center on several occasions and there was some type of vomit/food spill on one of the exercise balls. The first day I just let it go and figured they would clean it overnight- didn’t happen. Just make sure you wipe everything down before you use their fitness equipment since they do minimal, if any, cleaning in there.
My main complaint came on my second day when I left for business, and expected housekeeping service. After arriving back to my hotel late that evening, I came back to find that the room was cleaned, but a personal hand held mirror I had was broken. It looked as if it was dropped on the floor and then then just placed it back on the sink. There was no note, no call from the front desk, but they gladly took the tip that I left. I immediately called the front desk and explained that housekeeping broke my mirror and I was told by the associate that she would have a manager contact me the next morning probably between 9 and 10 am. I asked that they have the manager call me. My work event was cancelled for the next day so I was in my room the entire day with the exception of the 10 minutes I drove to go pick up lunch. There was no call, no note left, no care at all for their housekeeping’s lack of care of for my personal property. I checked out this morning and there was no acknowledgement of my issue and I was not even asked how my stay was so that I could address the issue again. I left the broken mirror on my bed in place of a tip, but I doubt it was mentioned to management. Sure, this was just a small, inexpensive mirror that could easily be replaced, but it could have been a computer, or a camera or one of many other item we leave in our room and expect them to be taken care of during service visits. The lack in any...

All of the employees the front desk and even the breakfast distributor for any given morning has a smile on their face and are always eager to help you. Bosnia is one of the many familiar and very friendly faces and he always ensures that you are taken care of. This last stay he phone our hotel room about 20 minutes after we had gotten in to it just to make sure that we made it in okay and that if we needed anything to call down at the front desk and he would assist.. Much initiative is taken by all Towneplace Marriott, front-desk employees. They've even helped me with my luggage when they witnessed me struggling one time. I've never experienced that by front desk employees at any other Anchorage hotel location.
The rooms are always clean, the room towels are fresh and the bathroom is always clean. The coffee maker, the kitchen counter top, the microwave, refrigerator, freezer, and stove top are always clean and in working order in the different rooms I've stayed within at this location.
The staff who clean the rooms are friendly and say hello as you pass down the hallway. I have always been able to exchange my used towels for new ones with no problem when I forget to remove the Do Not Disturb door handle tag.
This location is perfect because you are able to get to the movie theater, Baskin Robbins, Wal-Mart, general shopping, eating, Chuck E Cheese's (if you have kids), and even the library within walking distance. From multiple experiences, the cab ride to these places from the hotel is $3-$5, so one can comfortably walk to their intended destination and catch a cab back to the hotel. And directly next to the hotel is a brand new wall climbing facility.
If you're budgeting your trip, being able to access such locations directly from your hotel via walking can prove useful especially if you just want to get out of your room to get some fresh air.
There is also a pool and jacuzzi and the area is clean with access to fresh towels once done swimming. The breakfast consists of sausage patties, eggs, juice, hot coffee, DIY waffles, bagels, fruit, milk and more with 2 televisions tuned into the news in the morning. And the eating area is always clean, monitored, and avidly maintained throughout the dining experience.
I wholeheartedly appreciate the well-roundedness of the hotel staff and convenient location (to access other surrounding opportunities) of TownePlace Marriott hotel of...
